Ridiculousness.

I can’t exactly put my finger on what we’ve been doing different but the sunrises and sunsets
have been ridiculously gorgeous over the last few days. And this morning was no exception.

I love autumn.

Tonight, there was that distinctive autumn crispness in the air. Brilliant night for a walk.

I love crisp autumn evenings like this in downtown Cincinnati. Geez, I really just love
downtown Cincinnati. I couldnt imagine living anywhere else. 🙂

Life is good.

I renewed the lease on my apartment for another year this morning. I’m really happy with my
place and where I am in life right now. A great place to live, great job that I look forward to
going to everyday, paying freelance photo gigs, an amazing girl in my life and of course, a
great buddy dog. Life is really good. And I don’t remember the last time I felt this content.

Everything just keeps coming up roses. And I love it.
Swoon. 🙂

Stop staring at me, squirrel.

Milan and I went on a medium length walk tonight. It was a really pretty evening again.

Milan saw another squirrel while we were walking…

And there was a second squirrel already up in the tree…
Milan
They stood there and stared at each other for a good 10 minutes…
Milan
For rest of our walk, he was scanning the trees for more squirrels.,,
Milan
He’s a pretty funny buddy dog. 🙂
Milan
We walked another 2.76 miles tonight. We love our walking.

TODT Exurbia.

I stopped at the Weston Art Gallery. We saw them installing the new exhibit last weekend.

“TODT is a collaborative of three artists who choose to remain anonymous. The word
“TODT” itself is both a brand name and a statement. “TODT” is an old German word
meaning “dead.” TODT can also be pronounced “TOT” to suggest a small child, or like
“TOD” which means death in German. Regardless, we encounter in the name a kind of
alpha and omega: it is an art that involved both beginnings and endings. Existence on
this earth alone fills the repertoire of TODT’s extraordinary imagery – and it includes
almost anything. NO aspect of reality is beyond their purview, however, it is a dark reality.”

–James K. Kettlewell, “TODT, An Artist Collaborative

Exurbia is TODT’s surreal and excessive distillation of technical culture. A terrarium
of “New Nature,”Exurbia processes an eco-Eden of hardened remains. Like an island
substance of charcoal and unctuous derivatives, our work renders a tectonic landscaping
between art and oil. The industrial inventory of materials and matter, of paint and rubber
and PVC, aerosois and expanding foam, of vinyl and glue, insulation board, silicone and
styrofoam forms, charcoal and gasoline – all the layers in its chemical of nature’s lubricating
machine, to TODT, Exurbia is a new nature beyond nature that diminishes any difference.

Happy trails, Shepard Fairey mural number 3.

When I was walking home today, I noticed that the Shepard Fairey mural that was lingering
on the front of the old Metropole Apartment building/New 21c Hotel had finally disappeared.

That’s the third Obey mural I’ve noticed bite the dust. This one and this one are gone too.

What’s your secret identity?

So yesterday when we were walking home from Fountain Square, I noticed this…
CAC
But it was dark and starting to rain, so I decided to investigate further on my walk to work.
CAC
It turns out to be some sort of caped crusader perched precariously up on the side of the CAC.

Turns out that it’s a promotion for Radius, a whole new kind of film experience…
“Radius is a film about secret identities—and the struggle to get to the heart of who someone
really is. Reveal your secret identity, and you just might see yourself on the big screen.”
Sounds interesting. And I grabbed a couple more shots on my walk home for good measure…

Because how often do you see a super hero twice in one day?

I didn’t know it was monsoon season.

I ran Genifer home this morning and while we were driving we got caught in one of the
worst storms I have ever driven in. It was hard to see where my lane was at times. But
as soon as I got her to her house, it stopped raining and the drive back downtown was
easy. Someone must have wanted her to stay downtown.

Cincinnati Celtic Fest, part two.

After a little disco nap, we walked back down to Fountain Square to catch the end of Celtic Fest.

The events that 3CDC puts on at Fountain Square are so much fun. Another great night. 🙂

Drew’s on the River.

After the soccer game, we stopped to get a bite to eat at a little hole-in-the-wall on the river
called oddly enough, Drew’s on the River.
