We’ve been really enjoying Bad Veins new Album, “The Mess We’ve Made.” They used
one or more of my photos on their new album artwork…

I know that the one in the second row on the left is one of my photos…

I think one or two of the others may be mine but I’m not exactly sure.

And it ended up raining pretty much all evening.

Finding ourselves out and about in suburbia this afternoon, we decided to venture just a
little bit further to find the much renowned Cincinnati BBQ joint, SmoQ.

There were so many amazing sounding things on their menu. Making a decision was tough.

We started off with some hushpuppies. I’ve been craving hushpuppies for weeks.
And they gave us some of the best cornbread muffins that I’ve ever tasted.

Genifer ordered the pulled pork sammich with cole slaw on top…

I went for broke. And ordered the rib combo. It was a full slab but half Memphis-style
baby back ribs, and a half slab of dry rub St. Louis-style ribs. It came with two sides
and we decided on the mashed potatoes and three-cheese mac and cheese…

Both were excellent. But the St. Louis-style ribs were where it was at. Soo delicious.

We ate and ate and ate on our meals but still had a huge box of BBQ to take with us.

We’re going to have to find more excuses to venture out to the ‘burbs to enjoy more of the
delicious SmoQ BBQ. It is really pretty amazing stuff. When we left, we were pretty much
in a meat coma. When we got home, we turned on the Reds game and took a nap.

We took Milan to get his annual check-up and renewed all his shots and vaccines.

And he everything checked out fine with him. The vet said he’s in perfect health.

He should be all good for the next year. 🙂

It was one of my coworkers birthdays and we went to Istanbul Cafe.

I ordered a Doner wrap, beef and lamb. And it was good.

But there are definitely better gyros in downtown Cincinnati.

I’m glad we went to the baseball game last night and not tonight.
It looks like it’s going to pour tonight.

UPDATE: It sprinkled all evening but the Reds got through their game
and won 4-2! Go Redlegs. 🙂

Genifer got an article she wrote published in a Sociology textbook!


Except they spelled her name wrong…

In celebration of Earth Day, a three-week installation of original sculptures made out
of recycled and/or recyclable materials has been on display on Fountain Square.

At lunchtime today was the official award ceremony for 2012 EcoSculpt where the first,
second and third place winners as well as the people’s choice award winner were announced.
The Cliftones provided entertainment before and after the ceremony. And there were various
earth friendly vendors displayed on the Square for all to browse.










Third place went to “Timeless.”


Second place went to “The Windmill Putt.”


The People Choice winner went to “Vegetation Regurgitation.”


And the first place award at the 2012 EcoSculpt went to “Renewed Tree of Life.”






There’s always something interesting happening in downtown Cincinnati. 🙂

Genifer got new red Converse All-Stars to wear to the Reds games.

I hope they bring the team some luck. 🙂

After we were done with all the pirate laser tag fun, we went over to Genifer’s brother’s
house to continue her nephew’s birthday celebration with a grill-out, cake and presents.
