Tonight was the final Midpoint Indie Summer performance of the season on Fountain Square.




It was another great summer of music on the Square. 🙂

UPDATE: Michigan just barely eeked out the win against Central Michigan 59-9. Ouch. 🙂

I’ve been noticing all sorts of cool bicycles around downtown lately, and it’s made me
really miss riding my bike. I really can’t believe it’s spent all summer in a closet.




We need to look into get Genifer a bicycle and then we could go on bike rides together. 🙂

So rumor has it that there is another rooftop bar in downtown Cincinnati. This one is high
atop the Residence Inn on Fourth Street across right across from Lytle Park.

A while back, there were a couple of days where we saw a huge crane on Fourth Street
lifting a bunch of stuff up to the roof of the Residence Inn. We wondered what they were
doing but didn’t pay it much mind. A roof top bar makes prefect sense.


We wandered into the Residence Inn and thought it odd that the way to the roof top bar
wasn’t more clearly marked like in the elevator up to the Cocktail Terrace at 21c. But
nonetheless, we rode the elevator to the top only to find out that there was a private
party going on this evening. And then a member of the staff informed up us that it wasn’t
really open to the general public because it isn’t typically staffed. They might open it to
the public next summer. Hmm. Okay. So a little dejected, we just went to their downstairs
ground floor cocktail lounge, Bar 506 at The Phelps. I heard somewhere that this place wasn’t
cheap. But really, what hotel bar is? But Bar 506 has an incredible happy hour from 5-9:30pm
with $5 drafts and a bunch of half-sized $5 menu items. We sized up the menu and decided to
give a couple items a whirl…

We ordered their Pulled Pork Nachos…

And their Lollipop Wings…

Both were delicious! Especially for just $5. After we were finished eating, we took our drinks
outside, hung out on their gorgeous back patio…






It’s like a little urban oasis with a wonderful happy hour. We’ll definitely be back. 🙂

Where is our summer disappearing to?

While we were at letting the dogs run around at Fido Field this evening, we checked to see
if there were any more vegetables at the little urban vegetable garden just outside the dog
park. There were some little peppers that were making progress…


And a couple of good looking little pumpkins…

And we brought home a bunch of little tomatoes and a handful of green beans…

After the Reds game, we went to Yard House. And Genifer tried her first mojito.

Mojitos, Mo’ Problems. Mmm… minty. 🙂

Today we met up with our friends, Dimitri and Joyette again. And walked down to Great
American Ball Park to work on our tans It was a hot one as the Reds took on the Brewers.





BARGE!






Yeah, you saw that right. The Reds were getting one-hit through seven. Ugh.

Joey Votto hit a home run while I was in the restroom. (You’re welcome.) Rally time!

And nope. No rallies today.

Before it was El Coyote, the place was called Cincy on Sixth and before that it was called
Cadillac Ranch. And when it was Cadillac Ranch, they had a mechanical bull. Fast forward
to today. El Coyote in all their infinite wisdom thought it would be a wonderful idea to bring
back said mechanical bull so that guy’s girlfriends can be adamant about stopping in to ride
the bull. And that is what people call marketing, folks. Here goes Genifer riding the bull…





Eight seconds it was not.

DJ Jazzy Jeff was spinning on Fountain Square tonight! You know we had to see that.













For me, the best part was when he took it way back and played “Summertime.” Awesome.

And while we were down there we ran into our friends, Dimitri and Joyette.
