We went to a Roaring 20’s Halloween Party at Igby’s tonight.

Fun. π

French Crust Cafe.
Master Chef Jean-Robert de Cavel and pastry chef Jean Philippe Solnom have a new
breakfast/lunch spot just up Vine Street from Jean-Robert’s well-known Table. It’s in
the space that used to house Mayberry and then Burnell’s. It’s called French Crust Cafe,
and looks to bring a touch of France to downtown Cincinnati. Today, I went to check
it out for lunch.

They have a pretty awesome selection of pastries…
Complete with french macarons…
And little creme brulees….
I got the “C” BLT to go.
Though I can’t remember what the “C” stood for. Probably something French.
It was a very good sammich. And it came with a little side salad…
I got one of those little creme brulees to share with Genifer. π
French Crust is a great little place. Another terrific addition to the downtown Cincinnati
lunch scene. I just wish they were open on Saturdays. π
UPDATE: Check that. According to French Crust’s Facebook, they’re we starting Saturday
hours this weekend! They’ll be opening at 8 am. I suggest you get there early. π

Boston Strong!

The Red Sox Twitter and Instagram feeds posted some really incredible photos during
the entire World Series, especially during and after Game 6. I pulled a some of the best
and posted them in a set on my Flickr. Awesome, awesome stuff.
Congratulations Boston! You’re back on top of the baseball world once again! π

Two and a half years.
Today is the two and a half year anniversary of our first date. We went over to Jimmy G’s
to celebrate with their Steak :30 Wednesdays: salad, 8oz. filet and duck fat fries for $30.
They had Rivertown’s Pumpkin Beer on tap…

Caesar salad…

And filet with duck fat fries…

It was a amazingly delicious way to celebrate two and a half wonderful years! π

Obscura.
Walking home from work, I noticed the window coverings were removed at the new bar
at the corner of Seventh and Walnut Streets apparently called Obscura.

Looks like a pretty cool spot despite the fact that it’s owned by the same people that
graced downtown with FBs.

Digging the hardwood.
They finished installing the hardwood floors in the hallway of our building…
I’m really digging the way it looks. I kinda wish they would keep right on going and do the
floors in our apartment. Somehow I don’t think that’s the plan though. And that’s too bad.
While we were out and about over the weekend, we picked up this cute little owl doormat…
Genifer loves owl stuff. π

Irons Fruit Farm.
After lunch, we drove out to Lebanon to the Irons Fruit Farm. We wanted to get some
pumpkins from their pumpkin patch and try to navigate their giant corn maze.

This year’s corn maze theme was Cowboy Corn Maze.
The last time we came to their corn maze the theme was “It’s a Zoo Out There.”

And just like last time, there were six boxes hidden in the maze. Find all six and you get
a free homemade donut when you get back to the farm house. There’s one…
Two…
Three…

Four…
We couldn’t believe how many wooly-bear caterpillars were in that corn maze…

We found box number five…
And the final sixth box! HOORAY!
WE DID IT! We survived the 2013 Irons Fruit Farm Corn Maze!
I tracked how far we walked on my Runkeeper app. And all and all, the corn maze took
us just under an hour and a half and we walked just under a mile and a half. Fun stuff!
Now on to the pumpkin patch!

And just like last time, we saw hot air balloons on our way home.
What a really fun afternoon. Here’s a picture of the pumpkins we picked out…

P.F. Chang’s.
This afternoon we ate at P.F. Chang’s at the Rookwood Commons in Hyde Park.
We started with some delicious lettuce wraps…

We could have been done right there. But we pressed on. Genifer ordered sesame chicken…
And I ordered Chang’s spicy chicken….
Delicious, delicious stuff. And there’s definitely enough leftovers for lunches tomorrow. π

The final Rocktober on the Square.
Tonight was the last 4EG Rocktober on the Square. And it was the last live music of the
season on Fountain Square.
And the fountain was back on tonight…
500 miles to Memphis was rocking the Square…

It was another great season of live music on Fountain Square. π
