I’m not a big fan of New Year’s Eve. Everyplace you go is packed like sardines, cover charges are beyond ridiculous and generally speaking, it’s pretty cold outside. We were looking for a hassle-free, inexpensive way to celebrate New Year’s Eve without have to make a lot of plans or reservations. You know, just easy. And looking around, we stumbled across Nicholson’s NYE celebration. No cover, live entertainment, party favors as well as a champagne toast at midnight. Sounds perfect. Let’s go…


And we happened to wander in just at the right time, and get a seat at the bar!

After a slight miscalculation in counting last month that mistakenly led me to believe I
was done with car payments, I made the real final payment on my 2008 VW Jetta GLI
a couple of weeks ago. Now it’s all completely 100% paid off but for real this time!

And just recently, I got the title in mail…

Not too shabby to have a completely paid-for 2008 Jetta with only 26,000 miles on it!
You gotta love that downtown living. 🙂

In what has become a Sunday tradition, we went to Rock Bottom Brewery to watch the
final Sunday of games of my fantasy football season. And we celebrated a great first
season with Rock Bottom’s nachos…

I ended up with the best record in our league at 12-5. But came in third due to a debacle
in the first round playoff game that saw my team post our lowest point total of the season.
And then this week when we were just playing for pride, we posted our highest point total
of the season. Life’s funny like that. But the season was great fun. And I can’t wait to
do it all over again next year with a little experience under my belt. I’m hooked. 🙂

After wandering around OtR for a while, we stopped a Palomino for a snack.
Who knew that Palomino had amazing deviled eggs?

Later, we had dinner at Moerlein Lager House. I had their meatloaf…

And Genifer had their Pork Shank…


Incredible dinner. As always. 🙂

We both had the day off today. So we wandered up into OtR to see if we couldn’t grab
some lunch at one of the new restaurants that have been popping up left and right on
Vine Street. Like Holtman’s Donuts…

What we really wanted to try was The Eagle Food and Beer Hall from the same people
that brought OtR the awesomeness that is Bakersfield…

But they weren’t open for lunch. So we tried Salazar at 14th and Republic Streets….

But they didn’t open until 5:30pm. So we were going to go have lunch at Kaze…

They’re open for lunch. But only Tuesday through Saturdays…

We’ll have try this idea again some other day. Maybe on a Saturday. 🙂

This afternoon was The Deskey Holiday Party, part two. It was another fun beer Friday
followed by a White Elephant gift exchange and ugly holiday sweater contest.












The most creative gift in the gift exchange was this fish bowl complete with goldfish…




I walked away with this awesome bunny with a monocle made out of seashells…




Onto the ugly holiday sweater contest/fashion show…








It was decided that Matt had the ugliest holiday sweater on the day…





Such a fun group of people to work with. I love being at Deskey. 🙂

We got this cute Christmas card from Josh, Jeannette and Violette in Boston…

And we got this really big box in the mail from them as well…

Playoffs?! We’re talking about playoffs?! Yep. My fantasy football team has won it’s last four
games. And finally clinched the top seed in our fantasy football playoffs today. Hopefully, my
team can keep their recent momentum going and win the whole thing! Fingers crossed. 🙂
