I was craving spaghetti for lunch. I scoured Downtown Cincinnati Inc’s restaurant list
of available Italian and pizzeria options. Then looked for my spaghetti options. I saw
on Snappy Tomato Pizza’s website that they have baked spaghetti. I’ve never ate at the
Snappy Tomato down at Fourth and Walnut Streets. And thought I would give it a try…
When I get there, they don’t have spaghetti. Only baked rigatoni. Fine.

The rigatoni was just okay. The biggest hinderance was trying to break through that thick
protective layer of cheese with a flimsy plastic fork. Once I finally broke though, like I
said, it was just okay. I was pretty excited that it came with two pieces of garlic bread.
But those were pretty soggy. And not very garlic-y. I glanced at their all-you-can eat lunch
pizza buffet while I ws waiting, it didn’t look bad. Nothing to get all excited about. But
seems like a good value at $6. Hopefully, it’s better than their rigatoni. Because at the
end of the end, I’m still really craving spaghetti.

St. Patrick’s Day on the Square.
This afternoon we checked out the St. Patrick’s Day celebration on Fountain Square.

We’ve really missed all the events on the Square. If you missed Saturday’s St. Patty’s Day
celebration, you get another chance to celebrate all things Irish on the Square Monday from
11am to 2pm and 5pm to 8pm! π

St. Patrick’s Day parade!
The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade took place at noon today in downtown Cincinnati.
And for the second year in a row, the parade route came down Sycamore Street right
in front of building! People were out early lining the streets…
We ended up taking the dogs on a walk right as the parade was approaching home…

Parades are fun. π

Chichow! part two & Canstruction, part three.
We wanted a couple more pints of the delicious Chickow! from Triple Digit Brewery so
we headed back to Red Rosst Tavern. On the way in, there was another Canstruction
on display. Hunger is Wicked…

Great beers! Genifer had her Quinoa salad again. And I had this amazing Irish burger…
YUM!:)

Canstruction, part two.
On my way back to the office with lunch, I stopped in the main branch of the library to take
a look at some more Canstruction exhibits. First up was Out to Minion-mize Hunger…

And Power Up to Fight Hunger…

Canstruction.
On my way home from work, I stopped into the Weston Art Gallery to check out their share
of the 17th annual Canstruction exhibition on display all over downtown Cincinnati…
Saving the Kingdom, One Can at a Time…

Fighting Hunger: One Fork at a Time…

Study of Cans as a Wall with Pattern and Texture…

Ducking the Obstacles of Hunger…

And a display without a title…

My favorite was Saving the Kingdom, One Can at Time…
Awesome, awesome stuff. I can’t wait to check out the rest of the Canstruction exhibits! π

Our intertubes must be all tangled.
Our Time Warner cable and internet went out last night around 8 o’clock. When we woke
up this morning, it was sill out. Not a big deal, just pretty annoying. I was happy to see
these two Time Warner vans outside of our building when I was leaving for work…
Thankfully when I came home at lunch to check on it, everything was fully functional again.
With all the Cincinnati Streetcar construction going on downtown, I really wonder if someone
didn’t clip a cable line that they shouldn’t have.

Annnd, we’re back to winter…
After the last couple days of really gorgeous almost spring-like weather, this morning was
cloudy and rainy and cold with the temperature dropping by the minute…

And then, it started sprinkling…
As we were rounding the corner for home, we were caught in a torrential downpour. This
afternoon, I looked out my window at work and it was snowing. Again. This evening wasn’t
much better. It was just downright cold. And the sky looked near apocalyptic…

There is no spring, only Zuul.

Blues, Brews & BBQ’s.
Moerlein Lager House has recently started running a Monday night dinner special called
Blues, Brews & BBQ’s. Their BBQ plate is just $15.99 and includes 1/3 rack of ribs, pulled
pork and smoked sausage served with a corn cake, green beans and cole slaw and your
choice of BBQ sauce. You never beat the view from the upstairs of the Lager House…
And here it is… Moerlein Lager House’s BBQ plate…

WOW! Delicious, heavenly BBQ! Everything was delicious. But I tell you what, that corn
cake was the star of the show for us. It was outstanding, and paired perfectly with all the
BBQ meats. As did the green beans. You can never go wrong with some green beans!
Genifer ordered their BBQ Chicken Flatbread and a side of french fries…
Everything we’ve ever ordered at Lager House has been nothing short of terrific.

And we’ll definitely be back on another Monday for more of their delicious BBQ meats! π

Red Roost… Chickow!
We went back over to Red Roost Tavern in the Hyatt Regency for dinner this evening…

While we were there, we stumbled across this really outstanding hazelnut double brown
ale called Chickow! from Cincinnati’s own Triple Digit Brewery…

I would go back just for the beer alone. But we also ordered dinner…
Last time we were at Red Roost, Genifer ordered a delightful Summer Salad. But with
Red Roost’s concept being farm to table, they didn’t have the Summer Salad since it’s
not summer. She ordered this spectacular Quinoa Salad with winter squash, walnuts,
arugula, roasted tomatoes and apple cider vinaigrette…
It was delicious. Last time we were here, I had the Bison Burger. They were out of it this
time. So I just ordered the equally delicious Grass-Fed Burger…

And we shared their amazing French Onion soup…
Delicious, delicious stuff. We’ll definitely be hurrying back to get a couple more Chickow!
And another incredible meal very soon! π
