Actress Cate Blanchett is in town filming a movie called “Carol.” Set in 1950s New York,
a department-store clerk who dreams of a better life falls for an older, married woman. Yep.
For some strange reason, they’re shooting part of it in downtown Cincinnati. This evening
Eighth Street was turned into a parking lot of classic cars from the 50s…













You never know what you’ll stumble across in downtown Cincinnati. 🙂

We watched a bunch of basketball today. After Wichita State’s loss to Kentucky, we went
up to the casino to have a delicious dinner at Margaritaville…

And then we gambled on the slots for a bit. We lost a whopping two dollars on five pulls
of the slots. My mom had a voucher for ten dollars in free slot play and turned that into
a combined total of over $30. And then she ended walking with a cool ten bucks. It was
a very fun, low-key Sunday chuck full of basketball and great company. 🙂

A lazy Saturday morning saving our energy for this evening’s Michigan-Texas game…

My parents came down from Michigan to visit for the weekend to watch some basketball
with us. With them, they brought a couple of Pizza King pizzas and a a Boonzaaijer cake.


Family, the opening weekend of March Madness and delicious stuff imported form Michigan…

It turned the corner and continued to trail back down Seventh Street. Yikes.

The carousel of restaurants that occupy the old Cadillac Ranch space continues to turn.
El Coyote has closed it’s doors and in it’s place opens the new Bullseye Bar & Fire Grill…



In the time I’ve lived downtown, it was Cadillac Ranch that first occupied that space and
then it became Cincy on Sixth, then it was El Coyote and now Bullseye. That space is like
the Bermuda Triangle of restaurants. And all but one of them featured a mechanical bull.
Coincidence? Probably not.

I found a couple more Canstruction exhibits when I wandered out to get lunch today.
This one in the lobby of the Aronoff Center is called “We’re not in CANsas Anymore”…


And I finally found a complete venue list at the Aronoff Center…

Just two days before the Canstruction is set to end. Thankfully, I was able to stumble
across a lot of the exhibit locations on my own. 🙂 I wandered over to Contemporary Arts
Center to check out the Canstruction exhibit there…

And then I headed down the block to Center at 600 Vine…

Really cool stuff. I’ve made it to all but one of the Canstruction locations. I saw the exhibits
at Weston Art Gallery. And the ones at the Main Library. And at the Hyatt. And now these
ones. Not too shabby. And there were a lot of really cool exhibits. 🙂

One of the best sports weekends of the year. Four days of nonstop college basketball
Madness! Thanks to technology, we were able to watch every game live this evening…


And we still had screens available for three more games. Isn’t technology wonderful? 🙂

It looked like there was going to be a window where we could get a peek inside the
revitalization and transformation of Tower Place into the brand new Mabley Place…

But it was all just a huge tease.

We were walking through TJ Maxx this evening, and saw this rather unfortunate t-shirt…

Unfortunate after Aroldis took a line drive to the face in a Spring Training game yesterday.
He could pitch again in 4 to 6 weeks. Get well soon, Chappy. Thoughts and prayers. 🙂
