Friday night at the ‘Shoe.

Horseshoe Casino
We watched the Buckeyes luck run out. Again. πŸ™‚

Cafe Italia.

I’ve been wanting to give the pizza place, Cafe Italia inside Horseshoe Casino a try for
a bit now. We walk by it every time we’re at the casino to go to Bobby’s Burger Palace
and it always looked pretty enticing. Pizza sounded really good and it’s not a far walk
from the office this cold afternoon so I thought it would be a good day to try some pizza.

I got a slice of three meat and a slice of Italian sausage and a soda for $8. Not bad.
If the pizza was a lot better. It was really greasy with super-thin, almost rubbery crust.

My jaw hurt hurt by the time I was done chewy up the first slice. One more to go…
Cafe Italia
I guess sometimes when you try new sometimes you’re going to get misses.
And this was definitely one of them. Pizza King it was not. :/

Evening abstraction.

Looking out at a chilly downtown evening through the condensation on the front window
of Shanghai Mama’s.

Snowy morning.

P&G Gardens
It’s a snowy morning in downtown Cincinnati. Brr. It’s cold. And more snow’s on the way. :/

Happy New Year’s Eve!

I’m not a big fan of New Year’s Eve. Everyplace you go is packed like sardines, cover charges are beyond ridiculous and generally speaking, it’s pretty cold outside. We were looking for a hassle-free, inexpensive way to celebrate New Year’s Eve without have to make a lot of plans or reservations. You know, just easy. And looking around, we stumbled across Nicholson’s NYE celebration. No cover, live entertainment, party favors as well as a champagne toast at midnight. Sounds perfect. Let’s go…

And we happened to wander in just at the right time, and get a seat at the bar!

Fun night. We hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year’s Eve! πŸ™‚

And I’m done.

After a slight miscalculation in counting last month that mistakenly led me to believe I
was done with car payments, I made the real final payment on my 2008 VW Jetta GLI
a couple of weeks ago. Now it’s all completely 100% paid off but for real this time!
VW Jetta GLI
And just recently, I got the title in mail…
IMAG4007
Not too shabby to have a completely paid-for 2008 Jetta with only 26,000 miles on it!
You gotta love that downtown living. πŸ™‚

It’s become a Sunday tradition.

In what has become a Sunday tradition, we went to Rock Bottom Brewery to watch the
final Sunday of games of my fantasy football season. And we celebrated a great first
season with Rock Bottom’s nachos…

I ended up with the best record in our league at 12-5. But came in third due to a debacle
in the first round playoff game that saw my team post our lowest point total of the season.
And then this week when we were just playing for pride, we posted our highest point total
of the season. Life’s funny like that. But the season was great fun. And I can’t wait to
do it all over again next year with a little experience under my belt. I’m hooked. πŸ™‚

Merry Christmas everyone!

Merry Christmas!

We finally got to eat something.

After wandering around OtR for a while, we stopped a Palomino for a snack.
Who knew that Palomino had amazing deviled eggs?

Later, we had dinner at Moerlein Lager House. I had their meatloaf…

And Genifer had their Pork Shank…

Incredible dinner. As always. πŸ™‚

A bunch of new options, just not on Monday.

We both had the day off today. So we wandered up into OtR to see if we couldn’t grab
some lunch at one of the new restaurants that have been popping up left and right on
Vine Street. Like Holtman’s Donuts
Over-the-Rhine
What we really wanted to try was The Eagle Food and Beer Hall from the same people
that brought OtR the awesomeness that is Bakersfield
Over-the-Rhine
But they weren’t open for lunch. So we tried Salazar at 14th and Republic Streets….
Over-the-Rhine
But they didn’t open until 5:30pm. So we were going to go have lunch at Kaze
Over-the-Rhine
They’re open for lunch. But only Tuesday through Saturdays…
Over-the-Rhine
We’ll have try this idea again some other day. Maybe on a Saturday. πŸ™‚
