Every month, we’ve been getting vouchers in the mail from Horseshoe Casino. The
vouchers have always been $10 in free slots play, which is kind of cool. But not really
worth our time to walk up to the casino just to play their $10 and leave. In November’s
mailing, the sent us $20 in free slot play per week. Alright. Now we’re talking…
So this afternoon was really pretty outside, what better place to spend it than a place
without any windows? Off to the casino we go…
But first, Bobby’s Burger Palace for a burger. You can’t gamble on an empty stomach…
We shared the burger of the month, the Pacific Northwest Burger: White American Cheese,
Cremini Mushrooms, Red Wine BBQ Sauce. Delicious burger…
Sorry about the crappy photo. I didn’t take my camera with me. And just used my mobile.
We also shared some of their amazing onion rings…
These are damn near actual size. After we were done at BBP, we hit up the slots. We
didn’t break the bank. We’re not going to retire off this. Or Buy ourselves a private island
or anything. But we did parlay our $20 free voucher into $26.90 cash money…
Our goal going in was to walk with enough money to get ourselves a full slab of delicious
Moerlein Lager House ribs sometime next week. Mission accomplished. After we ran ran
out of free gambling money, we had a drink in the casino’s Rock Bar…
There was a really great acoustic band, Floyd and the Walkmen in there performing…

It was a fun evening. And thanks to our BBP rewards card, our next burger is free!
We also have three more $20 vouchers for free slot play to use this month. Chances
are you’ll be seeing a couple more posts just like this over the next couple weeks.
And thanks in advance for the Moerlein Lager House ribs, Horseshoe! π
Thanks, Horseshoe!

The Penguin.
We were really tinkering with the notion of going to see The Features at the Taft Theatre
Ballroom tonight. But we ended up dragging our feet too long. And we couldn’t get our act
together. So we went back to The Penguin Dueling Piano Bar to listen to some live music
and have a couple of drinks instead.

The Penguin is always fun. Especially on Fridays. π

The Deskey Chili Cook-off.
Today at work, we had a lunchtime Deskey Chili Cook-off to celebrate all the October
and November birthdays in the office. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate.
There were plenty of pre-chili snacks…
While all the different chilis were slowly making their way to staging area…
While the final chili preparations were being made, the grilled cheese bar was in full effect.

Just waiting on a couple more chili entries…

Getting closer to tasting time…

Let the tasting begin!

And out the the eight entries, our chili came in second! Not too bad at all!

What a fun way to celebrate office birthdays! π

Is it chili in here?
Today at work, we’re having a chili cook-off to celebrate those with October/November
birthdays. Last night, Genifer and I went to the store to get some ingredients to make
our chili to enter in the contest. It simmered all high in the crockpot. This morning it
looked ready, and smelled delicious…

YUM! On a side note, having your home smell like delicious chili all night while you’re
trying to sleep produces some very odd dreams. But that’s a small price to pay. π

Clever cheap gas headline…
We saved 40Β’/gallon on gas when we filled up this evening thanks to our Kroger Plus Card!
You can’t bet that at all! Thanks Kroger Plus Card! π

Article.
There’s a new high-end men’s designer clothing boutique up in The Gateway Quarter
of Over-the-Rhine called Article, offering “Genuine Goods for the Classic Man.”

A lot of good-looking stuff for classic guys that don’t mind breaking the bank to look good.

Mr. Cowpie’s Party Animals.
Just away from the disappointing City Apple Festival were Mr. Cowpie’s Party Animals.

The turtle wasn’t very happy that it was so chilly out side…

It’s hard to go wrong with a petting zoo. π

City Apple Festival.
We stopped by Washington Park to check out the first annual City Apple Festival.
There was an extremely overcrowded, poorly placed apple pie eating contest…

And other than at the Green Bean Delivery table, there wasn’t an apple to be found.
