This evening we went and picked up our fifth free pizza thanks to the Reds game on Tuesday!

Free pizza is delicious. π

Free pizza #5!

The Spread Buffet.
Okay. The Spread Buffet at Horseshoe Casino has a big promotion going through the end
of the month where if you bring in your Reds ticket you can get a complimentary buffet.
We’re not really huge fans of buffets. Not much at all. Between everyone digging in
your food and the resulting food coma from overeating, buffets are just kind of bleh.
But today, we finally summoned up the courage and got around to wandering up to the
casino to give The Spread Buffet the old college try. And when we got there, we were
met with a line. Not a wicked long line, mind you. But still a line. At a buffet.
We were told that it would be about ten minutes because “All the tables were full.”
But from we were standing, we could see that there were at least a good 15 or more
tables that were open. Anyway. Thirty minutes later, we’re granted our free buffet.
The buffet is broken into different world cuisine sections…

The thing that struck us was that there weren’t really very many options. At all.

And the Italian section was turned into a breakfast station. With a 30 egg omelet…

Here’s my plate half-way through. You know I’m underwhelmed if I forgot to take a photo.
The only thing that really had a wide variety was the dessert station. Cupcakes galore.
I had a couple of these red velvet ones!
I mean, don’t get me wrong. The food wasn’t bad. I was expecting better and more of it.
We’re going try to give it another chance when it’s not brunch, and see if it’s any better.
I certainly hope it is. Because at $23.99 a person, it should be a lot better than it was.
I’d say if you’re in the mood for a buffet, save yourself $25 and just go to Golden Corral.

RoeblingFest.
After lunch on the Levee, we caught the Southbank Shuttle over to Covington…

We were still trying to track down RoeblingFest. And mission accomplished…
Hmm…

Not a lot to it really. But they did have a tent with a whole bunch of historical photos…

Afterwards, we broke camp and went around the corner to Molly Malone’s to watch the
Brazil v. Italy Confederation’s Cup soccer match.
I guess it’s that time of year for baby birds…

RoeblingFest was a bit of a bust. But it’s always fun to try something different. π

Jefferson Social.
After this afternoon’s Reds game, we stopped at Jefferson Social for some tacos.

We their guacamole…
It didn’t taste very homemade and was pretty soupy. And the chips tasted old and stale.
I ordered three tacos…
A chicken taco…
A carnitas taco…
And my favorite, the Social Supreme…
Jefferson Social is definitely not Bakersfield or Barrio. But it’s still pretty good! π

Baby birds.
When we were walking the dogs this morning, we saw these baby birds at the P&G Gardens…

So cute. π

My Foursquare.
I hit another all-time for points over the last seven days with 957!
Someday, I hope to actually break 1000 points over a seven day span.
I love my Foursquare.

Reds baseball game #16
It was a pretty stormy-looking evening in downtown Cincinnati for the big NL Central
showdown between the Pittsburgh Pirates and our beloved Reds…
But that didn’t stop everyone from coming out to the ball park…

Latos was on the hill for the Reds tonight…

the Pirates touched him up for three runs in the first. But then he settled in.

Going into the fourth inning, Latos already had 8 K’s…

Choo, Choo, Choo!
Votto.
Beep.

But the Reds just couldn’t get anything going offensively. Reds pitchers were killing it.

Ten. One more strikeout for free pizza…
And it’s only the sixth inning!
AND BOOM GOES THE POWER STACK!

FREE PIZZA! It’s the sixth free pizza we’ve got so far this season!

Bleh. The Reds lost 4-0. And only could muster four hits on the night. We left at the top
of the eighth to go watch the USA-Honduras World Cup qualifier. And thankfully the USMNT
had better luck than the Reds on the night, grabbing a big 1-0 win. The Reds ended up losing
4-0. However, the Reds pitchers did combine for 17 strikeouts in the game. Get back at ’em
tomorrow, Reds. And remember to bring your bats this time. π

Reds baseball game #15!
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! The first 10,000 dad at today’s Reds versus Brewers game
got a free Reds gym bag, brought to you by the kind folks at Kahn’s. We got to the ball
park earlier than I’ve every been before. We were there before the gates even opened,
and lined up for our free bags. Mission accomplished! We got dad is Father’s Day Reds
gym bag. And I even got one too! I’m counting it as a future Father’s Day present for
somewhere on down the line.
We made swift use of the Reds new re-entry policy and broke camp from GABP to head
over to Yard House for lunch with our brand new bags in hand. And not a single photo was
taken. Then we headed back over to the ball park in plenty of time to see the first pitch!

Johnny Cueto wass back on the mound after a stint on the 15-day disabled list…

Beep.

Wait, what? This barge was having all sorts of trouble…

And back to the ball game…
Todd Frazier and Shin Soo Choo weren’t playing today…
But Joey Votto was…
And so was Jay Bruuuuuuce, who went yard…

‘Murica!

Alfredo Simon came on in relief in the seventh.
And he was promptly drilled with a ball hit back up the middle…
But he was okay.

It started sprinkling a bit in the eighth…
Simon got another rare at-bat…

BOOM!

Ball game. And this one belongs to the Reds!

I can’t think of a better way to spend Father’s Day. π
