Brew Ha-Ha.

We wandered down to Sawyer Point to catch the end of the Cincinnati Brew Ha-Ha.

There were a bunch of people there. It seems like it gets bigger every year.

And they were starting to run out of a lot of the beers we wanted to try. But we got to try
a few new ones. Nothing that I would run right out and pick up. But they were decent.

And apparently, the Reds won!

It was fun. We just got there too late. We’ll have to try to make it down to next year’s
Brew Ha-Ha on Friday night before they start running out of all the good beers. πŸ™‚

McCabe’s Granola.

The nice people over McCabe’s Granola sent us a samples of their wonderful granola.
I have to say I was immediately drawn in by the fun packaging. Really nicely done.

McCabe's Granola
The story of McCabe’s Granola goes like this…
“McCabes was founded in 2006 by two girls attending the University of Dayton.
They came up with a recipe that was so delicious that they couldn’t make it fast
enough. They realized the full potential of their recipe when they could barter
homemade granola for computer repairs, a new bike or even a date.

Between new families, growing careers in their day jobs, doctoral studies and kids,
the girls decided to sell the company two years ago to a local family, the Muth’s.

But the Muths aren’t just any family though, Mom Susan is at the helm. She’s a
seasoned sales consultant with Cisco. Son Michael is in charge of store sales and
day-to-day operations. Father Chris and other son Jameson help out behind the scenes.

In two years, the company has grown exponentially, expanding into all of Ohio,
and major markets in Kentucky and Indiana through Kroger and Whole Foods.”

McCabe's Granola
I’m not a huge granola fan. But McCabe’s is some of the tastiest granola that we’ve even
put in my mouth. The Delta Blueberry and the PB&Chocolate are our two favorites flavors.
The Cran with a Twist is good too. I’m just not a real big cranberry guy. The True Original
is very tasty as well. But as delicious as the Delta Blueberry and PB&Chocolate both are,
I have no doubt in my mind that they’ll disappear first. Because I find myself reaching
for those bags again and again. It’s definitely worth picking up a bag or two and trying
them for yourself. McCabe’s is available at these fine retailers or you can order online.

Give McCabe’s Granola a try today! πŸ™‚

It’s sign.

Apparently, Reds left fielder Chris Heisey is going to be at the Newport Kroger on Saturday.

I want to drive out just to get a photo of the length of the line. Geesh. πŸ™‚

Anita’s Mexican Kitchen.

We were going to the grocery this evening. But we didn’t want to go on an empty stomach.
We tried to stop at our very favoritest Mexican place, Rio Grande. It was packed. So we
hopped back in the car and went exploring down Alexandria Pike, and eventually stumbled
across Anita’s Mexican Kitchen. With the taste for Mexican food already in our mouths,
we decided to try something new. Maybe we’ll find a new favorite Mexican restaurant.

We quickly scanned some of the reviews and tips on Foursquare, we followed their advice
and started with the queso, which almost all of the comments raved about.

Awesome! The guacamole could have used a little bit more flavor and kick. It was okay.
Genifer ordered this incredibly delicious cheese stuffed poblano pepper…

And an equally cheesy and delicious cheese enchilada…

I ordered two ground beef chalupas…
Anita's Mexican Kitchen
Awesome as well. And we finished off with a side of beans and rice…
Anita's Mexican Kitchen
Everything was delicious. We definitely ordered way too much food. Again. The staff was
super nice and attentive. I don’t know that Anita’s will replace Rio Grande as our go-to
Mexican restaurant but it’s definitely giving them a run for their money. I want to go back
to Anita’s soon and try my favorite Mexican dish of all time, ground beef chimichangas.
For me, that will be the real test of which Mexican joint truly reigns supreme in my heart.

I want my Baby Back.

I’ve been having this craving for Baby Back Ribs for a while now like you wouldn’t believe.
Conventional wisdom would say this post would be all about Montgomery Inn Boathouse
or maybe Velvet Smoke up at Findlay Market or the much celebrated Eli’s BBQ or SmoQ
all the way out in Fairfield. But who wants to drive anywhere? On a Tuesday night? Not me.
All those places are good. But it doesn’t really matter though. Because in my humble opinion,
the best ribs in Cincinnati are just down the street from us at Moerlein Lager House.
Moerlein Lager House
I mean, just look at this…
Moerlein Lager House

I just looked at them, and the meat fell right off the bone. And their BBQ sauce? Delicious.
Just enough of a tang to it but still sweet. I couldn’t imagine there being such a thing as
better ribs than the ribs from Moerlein Lager House.

Reds baseball game #25.

Tonight, we walked down to GABP to see the Reds take on the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Coming into today’s game, the Reds lead the D-Backs by 5 games for the second NL
wild-card spot. If the Reds could win this four game series, they could all but lock-up
a spot in the playoffs for the third time in the last four years.
Great American Ball Park
We walked over to Mr. Reds Smokehouse to see what the special was for this series
and noticed this craft beer stand along the way.

Usually, we just head straight up stairs to our seats, which were awesome today…

But they were too crowded, so we moved down the third baseball to get some more room.

There was some Parra on Parra action…

Newport on the Levee.

We spent this afternoon across the river wandering around Newport on the Levee.

We were this close to actually going to Ride the Ducks but decided to watch the Reds
beat up on the Brewers instead. Someday… Someday, we’ll finally Ride the Ducks. πŸ™‚

Free pizza #10!

This afternoon we enjoyed our tenth free pizza of the Reds season. This free pizza was
courtesy of last Sunday’s dramatic 3-2 extra innings win against the Padres.
LaRosa's
Last season, there were 13 total “pizza for strikeouts” games where the Reds pitchers
struck out 11 or more batters. According to the AP’s Dan Sewell, LaRosa’s has already
given 190,000 pizzas in 19 “pizza for strikeouts” games so far this season with nearly
2 dozen Reds home games left. And that adds up to over a half-million-dollars’ worth of
pizza so far this year. I certainly hope they can afford to keep this promotion going for
many more seasons to come because free pizza tastes awesome!

We’re going to the games on Monday, Wednesday and Sunday so maybe we’ll be there
when LaRosa’s gives away their 20th free pizza of the this Reds season! πŸ™‚

Artworks mural.

They finished the Artworks mural at 12th and Vine Streets a little while ago.

I’m not entirely sure that I get the concept behind this one. But I still really like it. That
light blue/turquoise color in the background is one of all-time my favorite colors. And
there’s a certain playful, whimsy to this one that I really enjoy. A lot. All these murals
make downtown a more colorful, beautiful place. And I say, the more, the merrier! πŸ™‚
