Today, I went to check out Cuban Pete’s Sandwiches up on Court Street in the original Tom+Chee location. We had grabbed a bite to eat before from the Cuban Pete food truck, and it was good stuff. Now it was time to give their bricks and mortar shop a try…

I got the full El Cubano sammich and fries…

Really great stuff! The full sammich is huge! Definitely enough for two people to share. Next time, I’m just going to get half a sammich. And there will definitely be a next time! π

Reds game 28/40.
Reds game 28/40. Game two of the four game series between the Reds and Cubs…
Apparently, there was some sort of Nascar event at the ballpark tonight…

Anyway, we got some delicious Buffalo Chicken Frybox tonight! YUM!

BARGE!

We were dangerously close to getting the elusive free pizza…
The Reds led 4-2 going into the ninth. Then Middletown, Ohio native Kyle Schwarber put on a performance for the ages in return to the Cincinnati area, blasting a game-tying two-run homer in the ninth…
Skip ahead to the 13th, Schwarber crushed the go-ahead homer to almost single-handedly lift the Cubs over the Reds 5-4. There was one good thing. With the game lasting 13 innings, the Reds pitchers managed to combine for 18 strikeouts. And that means FREE PIZZA! HOORAY!!! It’s just our fourth free pizza of this season. In stark contrast to 2013 when we picked up 11 free pizzas in just 31 games. You know, back in the day when the Reds were actually kind of good.

Marlon Byrd hit a two-run shot. And then Jay Bruce added a monster two run-home run…

Brandon Phillips made yet another amazing play at second. Last night, Aroldis Chapman reached 500 strikeouts faster than any other player in MLB history…

And this belongs to the Reds, 5-4! Click to see all the photos I took at Reds game 27/40.

Reds game 26/40.
Reds versus Indians in what proved to be Johnny Cueto’s last game in a Reds uniform. π¦
Geri, Cleve and Alyssa joined us at the game today…
We’re going to miss watching Johnny Beisbol pitch. Truly a master of his craft.

The Live Sunday Mascot Race…

The Indians drew FOUR bases-loaded walks. The Indians Michael Brantley notched two of the RBI walks, one of which came against Johnny Cueto, who walked 6 in 4 innings.
The Reds fought back to force extra innings but fell in the eleventh 5-3. It wasn’t exactly the best game to celebrate our engagement. Afterwards, we all went to Moerlein Lager House to continue the engagement celebration…

It was a very special day. π Click to see all the photos I took at Reds game 26/40.

Reds game 24/40.
Now that the All-Star break is over, we’re back to our regular scheduled Reds baseball season. And it’s back with avengeance. We have six Reds games over the next six days. It didn’t get started off on exactly the right foot. We waited until the third inning to head down to the ballpark because it looked like this outside…
It was one of those situations that if we don’t head down to the game, it would never start to rain. But as soon as we got about halfway down to GABP, it started sprinkling. By the time we got to the ballpark, it was raining.
By the time we got upstairs, the game was in a rain delay…

An hour and five minutes later, Mike Leake was turning in six solid innings…
Marlon Byrd and Joey Votto helped Leake’s night with a home run apiece in the game…

Mike Leake also helped his own cause by driving in three runs, helping lead the Reds to a 6-1 interleague victory over the Indians in the annual battle for the Ohio Cup. π
