Who Dey think is actually going to win a playoff game?


The Bengals have now lost 7 straight playoff games. It’s the 2nd-longest active streak to Chiefs, who’ve lost 8 in a row. Next year. Next year.

Tonight we walked down to US Bank Arena to take in our ninth Cyclones hockey game of the season. We’ve been to half of the Cyclones home games so far. Tonight’s game was Throwback Night. Tickets were just $10, and $1 hotdogs, pizza, soda and BEER!

We picked up our tickets earlier in the afternoon, and headed down to try to beat the mad rush of people…

We didn’t beat them. That was the line for tickets. It was pretty nutty…

Good thing we got ours earlier. They had the upper bowl open of US Bank Arena for tonight’s game. I’ve never seen the upper bowl open before.

And as luck would have it, we got to sit in the upper bowl. Not a bad vantage point of the ice from up there. At all…








LET’S PLAY HOCKEY!



The Cyclones scored first and the Teddy Bear Toss, benefitting the Cincinnati Police Department, was in full effect…

Somehow this bear got caught on the netting behind the goal…










BACK TO HOCKEY!


At the first intermission that bear was still hanging on…




There were a bunch of people at the game…


And at the second intermission, there was chuck-a-puck…

There was a lot of throwing stuff tonight…

At the start of the third, it was Cyclones 3 Nailers 2…



Like I said, there were A LOT of people at the game!







And the Cyclones would go on to win the game 3-2 in front of a crowd of 12,585!!










And that bear was still hanging there on the net when we left. We’ll be sure to look for him when we go to our next game on January 14th.

Traffic was just sillyy after the game. We were really glad we just had a short walk home.


And on our walk home, it was 61º! January 3rd and it’s 61º!

The Cyclones games are so much fun. It’s really hard to believe there are 12,000+ people at every home game. But we’re kinda glad there aren’t. We love our Cyclones hockey! 🙂

The Johnny Rocket’s down in The Banks has become Crosley’s Cafe. We were told the space would be transforming dramatically over the next few months. The interior will be transitioning from a family restaurant into more of sports bar. The interior will be completely reworked, more TVs will added along with garage doors that will open to a great patio space with outdoor bar…

As for right now, they make a really great burger!

We can’t wait to see Crosley’s when it’s all finished. 🙂

Oh, and I forgot to mention that we heard they’ll be selling corn dogs out of their to-go window. It’s pretty hard to find a corn dog in downtown Cincinnati. And I love me some corn dogs.

The Reds sent us an All-Star Game Coaster Set for the holidays. The set contains five coasters each with a different Cincinnati All-Star Game logo throughout the years…









I guess membership has it’s privileges. Thanks, Reds! 🙂

Last year’s New Year’s Eve was so easy and fun that we decided to do a redo this year. And went back over to Nicholson’s to ring in 2015…

Tonight, we braved a pretty chilly Cincinnati evening to walk down to US Bank Arena to take in our eighth Cyclones game of this season so far. It was a very rare Monday night hockey game for the ‘Clones. We’re thinking tonight’s game must have been rescheduled from earlier in the year. Nevertheless, MONDAY NIGHT HOCKEY!

There were a lot of people at US Bank Arena for some Monday night hockey…





At the end of the first, the Cyclones trailed the Evansville Icemen 1-0…

Back to the hockey…





TIE GAME!

And then something crazy happened. Something we’ve never seen before…

The ‘Clones tallied three goals in one-minute and four seconds! Yes, you read that right…
3 goals in 1:04! It was just BANG! BANG! BANG! 3 goals in 1:04! And the third and fourth goals were just 16 seconds apart! WOW!

At the start of the third period, it was Cyclones 4 Icemen 1…




The Cyclones exchanged goals with the Icemen in the third…

There were a number of fights in the game including one with just 16.6 seconds left…



And the Cyclones win! 5-2! It’s the second win in a row for us at Cyclones games!








I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend a chilly Monday night in downtown Cincinnati! 🙂

I won TWO of the four fantasy football leagues I was in this season! I’m the Champion of one league that was just for fun AND Champion of our league at work. Taking home the Deskey Frothy Head Football League Championship at work is going to bring in around $350! Not too shabby. At all. 😀

Here’s how my teams fared this season…
At work my team, Turn Down for Watt went 11-4 during the regular season, and made the playoffs as the second seed. They then proceeded to stomp their way through the playoffs. I ended up winning the semi-final by 23. And the championship game by 25, 123-98. But it was never really that close. At one point yesterday, I was up by 80+ points. Show me the money!

Team Skulls & Chicken Bones, in the league Genifer and I were in together, went 6-7 during the regular season. Somehow, I made it into the playoffs as the fourth seed (out of eight teams), knocked off the 10-3 number one seed in the first round, and then won the two-week championship, 202-145. Sadly, Genifer’s Oscarbots went 5-8 and finished in eighth place. But she did hand me one of my seven regular season loses.

Team Capt Interception went 9-4 during the regular season, and went into the playoffs as the number one seed. I ended up losing in the first round of the playoffs by 6 points. SIX. The kicker is that I had Bengals RB Jeremy Hill on my bench, who posted a monster 26 point game. Had Hill been in my starting lineup, I would have had an easy 20 win. And, had I then played in the championship game, I would have beat the other team by like 60 points. So my Championship tally should have been three out of four.

And finally, Team Bunny Bears went 6-7 and finished in fifth place. But they did manage to win both of their games in the consolation ladder of the playoffs. 🙂

So much fun! I’m already looking forward to another fun fantasy season next year!
