Tonight after work, we walked up Vine Street to check out the latest addition to The Gateway Quarter, Kreuger’s Tavern. It gets its name from Kreuger’s Brewing. The New Jersey brewery that was the first to sell beer in cans all the way back in 1935. Kreuger’s Tavern is the latest project from Thunderdome Restaurant Group, who also own OtR darling’s, Bakersfield and The Eagle Beer and Food Hall.

We thought the framed moss on the walls was really pretty cool…

You won’t find any draft beers here. Kreuger’s thing is canned beer. In fact, they have 88 different cans of beers in all varieties on the menu…
Genifer got Kreuger’s signature drink, a gin & tonic. I just got a Miller Lite. It tastes great and it’s less filling…
Speaking of tasting great, that was the best gin & juice I’ve ever tasted. Soooo smooth. Genifer spied beer cheese in the Snacks section of Kreuger’s menu…
BAM!

Oh man. I could literally eat that beer cheese EVERY single day. It was amaaazing!
Genifer ordered the house-made Lincolnshire Sausage on mashed potatoes…
It was delicious! And I ordered Kreuger’s Burger. Our server described the burger as a Big Mac on steroids. It was incredible!

Genifer ordered a Western Row beer cocktail…
Who would have that bourbon and beer would have been so tasty together? We knew Kreuger’s was going to be terrific just based off of how good Bakersfield and The Eagle are. But we had no idea of just how incredible it would be. We can’t wait to get back to Kreugers very, very soon. And you should too before there’s a three-hour wait on a Saturday night like there is at Bakersfield and The Eagle. π

"For the city, it is a dream come true."
It was a big day for Cincinnati Music Hall. Music Hall received Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credits in the amount of $25 million to put the historic venue one step closer to the amount needed to do a full renovation and be preserved for many generations to come.

Cyclones hockey game #6!
It was a cold and chilly night in downtown Cincinnati. Perfect hockey weather. So we walked down to US Bank Arena to take in our sixth Cyclones game of the season!

It was $1 beer night. Check out this guy’s beer holder…

At the end of the first it was 1-0 Greenville…

At the start of the third period, the ‘Clones were down 2-0…

And Greenville added an open-netter to take the game 3-0.

Oh well. Hopefully, the ‘Clones will do better next time. π

Are you ready some football?
We ordered some more delicious Jet’s Pizza and just watched football today …
Three of my four fantasy football teams have made the playoffs! Fingers crossed! π

The City Flea: December edition.
This evening was the December edition of The City Flea at Washington Park…

It got pretty crowded and congested in places…

Who knew Cincinnati used to have a basketball team? I did not.

Wandering through The City Flea is always fun. π

Washington Park.
Last night, Washington Park’s holiday tree was lit up during the 4th annual Light Up OtR…

It’s another really pretty downtown holiday tree, just on a slightly smaller scale than the massive tree on Fountain Square. π

Cincinnati Santacon.
The Cincinnnati Santacon was going on today all over downtown. For the most part, it was just a bunch of drunk people staggering around downtown from bar to bar in Santa hats. But then there were those who really went all out. And these two definitely get my vote for the most Christmas spirit…

The Blind Pig.
We heard about a new bar just opened up down on west Third Street. The Blind Pig is being marketed as a modernized speakeasy for the new age, an updated take of what a speakeasy is now… a place to grab some fantastic food, sip on updated versions of the quirky drinks that were invented during prohibition and catch your favorite teams on TV.
When I think of speakeasys, I think of a hard-to-find little place that’s down some back alley without a sign to be seen. It wasn’t nearly as hard to find as we had hoped…

Check out this patio…
There’s a real shortage of places with great patios in downtown Cincinnati…

Great place, great drinks, super friendly staff. We can’t wait to go back for something to eat as soon as they get the finishing touches on their menu worked out. π
