We walk by Trattoria Roma on Sixth Street almost every day, and have never stopped in
to check it out for whatever reason. This evening we finally got around to taking advantage
of the Downtown Cincinnati Restaurant Week by having dinner at Trattoria Roma…
We were started off with some delicious rolls…
The first of our three courses were salads. We both had the caesar salad…
Genifer ordered the filet with asparagus and potatoes…
Simply delicious. And I ordered the veal parmigiana…
Absolutely amazing! For dessert, Genifer ordered the cannoli…
And I ordered the tiramisu…
The tiramisu alone was well worth the price of admission by itself. Absolutely incredible!
Everything was simply delicious. The next time we’re crazing some delicious Italian food,
we’ll definitely be back! ๐

D.Burnham’s at the Renaissance Hotel.
This afternoon, we went back to the newly opened Renaissance Hotel downtown…
And we had lunch at their restaurant, D.Burnham’s. Genifer ordered this turkey burger…
It was the most delicious turkey burger that I’ve ever tasted. Seasoned to perfection.
I ordered this monstrous BBQ cheeseburger with Jarlsburg cheese…

It was an incredibly delicious and huge lunch. When you go (ha ha, pun intended), you
have to play with the lighting on the mirrors in the bathrooms…
We’ll definitely be back to have lunch or dinner at D.Burnham’s. To split something. ๐
Yet another great restaurant in downtown Cincinnati. ๐

Midpoint Indie Summer Series.
This evening we walked back over to Fountain Square to check some live music at the
Friday night Midpoint Indie Summer Series. Tonight’s headlining band was Protomen…
Cool sign…

Look at the size of that drum…

They were rocking the Square. But then it started to get odd…

Really odd…

Like I said they were good, but it just got odd in a hurry at the end. I dunno, maybe we’re
just getting older. But the end of their show of definitely odd.

Family of groundhogs.
Walking back from Newport on the Levee, we noticed that the family of groundhogs are
still happily living under the Fort Washington Way Overpass where 50 and 71 merge…

They’re so cute. And it makes me happy that they’re still there. ๐

The Great Inland Seafood Festival.
After lunch at Redondo, we noticed that the Great Inland Seafood Festival was going on…
You could get a whole Maine lobster for just $10.95. There’s just something weird about
eating seafood at a street festival along the Ohio River that just kinda turns us off.

Redondo Taqueira at Newport on the Levee.
I had my summer hours this afternoon at work. We rode the Southbank Shuttle across
the river to Newport on the Levee to try a new restaurant that we just recently noticed
over on the street level called Redondo Taqueria…
On the way in, we took note of their really nice looking patio…

It’s incredibly hard for us not to compare any taco shop to Bakersfield in OtR. So with
that incredibly high standard already being set, we started with the chips and salsa with
a wee-little side of guacamole for a whopping 3 bucks…
The salsa was very good and guacamole was pretty good but not anywhere near as good
as Bakersfield’s. And at nada, you used to be able to get a salsa AND guac for like $7.
We ordered a sampler of three tacos for $11…
We ordered the Carnitas, Adobo Chicken, Crispy Pork Belly…
And we added the short rib taco for an additional $2.50…
They were all really tasty but small. Like two bites and you were done with each taco,
that small. We also ordered the short rib appetizer…
It was definitely the stand-out dish of our entire meal. And that rice that came with the
short rib was out of this world. Everything was delicious and flavorful especially that short
rib starter and we left very full but our bill with two beers each was twice as much as any
bill we’ve ever had at Bakersfield for the same amount or more food. Better food. It was
good and all. And it’s nice to try something new but the next time we want some tacos
OR guac, we’ll just be fighting the crowds to get back to Bakersfield or nada…

Another completed ArtWorks mural.
ArtWorks just completed their mural at the corner of Eighth and Main Streets…

Pretty sharp. ๐

Reds baseball game #26!
Our first businessman’s special of the year to see the second game of the two game
series between the Reds and the Boston Red Sox at Great American Ball Park!

Mike Leake was on the mound for the Reds, starting place of Homer Bailey…

It was a good thing we went to last night Reds-Sox game as well. At today’s game, the
Sox didn’t have Pedey OR Papi in the lineup…

But we got to see Yoenis Cespedes play again…

And we got see more of Mike Napoli…

Runners on second and third for the Reds…
Mesorocket…

Skip Schumaker knocked the ball out of the ballpark…

And then Mike Leake helped his own cause, and went yard as well…

Look at those helmets of nachos just waiting to be smothered in cheese…
Then Mike Napoli answered with a longball for the Sox…

And the Sox took the lead…
Kristopher Negron tried to get the Reds rally started with a lead-off triple…

Pedey came in to pinch hit…

It was a hot one today at GABP…

In the bottom of the ninth, the Reds have runners on first and second…

But the offense would stall again and the Red Sox took both games of the series…

Still we’re so happy that we got to see both Red Sox games in Cincinnati! ๐

Reds baseball game #25!
We’ve been waiting all season for this series Reds versus the BOSTON RED SOX!

Latos was on the hill for the Reds…
And when the Sox took the field, we got to see Papi, David Ortiz…

And Pedey, Dustin Pedroia…
And the newest addition to the Sox, Yoenis Cespedes…
Brandon Workman was on the mound for the Sox…

Pedey…

Papi…

And Cespedes…

It was a beautiful night for baseball…

BARGE!

Johnny Baseball was named NL Player of the Week…
It started to look a bit ominous…
We got see one of our favorite vendors at GABP do his thing…
https://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf
The Sox brought in Mike Napoli to hit…

Papi…
Cespedes…

And Cespedes took big Jonathan Broxton yard to give the Sox the lead…
I thought for certain that tonight would have been a sellout…

Still a pretty good crowd for a Tuesday evening. Check out the Sox shift put on for Bruce…

The play was called safe in favor of the Sox on the field…

A review finally went the Reds way…

The Sox closer Koji Uehara came in to try to nail the game down for the Sox…

And Koji shut down the Reds…

I felt like no matter who actually won the game tonight, I was going to be happy. Getting
to see my favorite NL team play my favorite AL team? Heck. Sign me up for that game
any day and twice on Sunday. I just wish the game would have gone to extra innings so
it would have kept going well into the night. Just another incredible night at GABP! ๐

Glier’s Goettafest, part two.
After playing by the Ohio River, we got some pretzels and more Goetta…
Those little sliders were pretty tasty…
But that Goetta’n Chedda was where it was at…
One of our favorite Cincy bands, The Cincy Brass was about to perform…

The Cincy Brass did Gangsta’s Paradise…
https://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf
BARGE!

And The Cincy Brass did my favorite song they do… THRILLER…
https://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf
BARGE!!

Storm clouds started to move in…
The inflatable Glier’s Goetta wasn’t looking so good…
The Glier’s Goetta vending machine…
And with that we headed home…
