This afternoon we picked up our first free Donato’s pizza of this hockey season thanks to the Cyclones 5-1 win over Toledo on Saturday. In case you missed it, Donato’s is giving away a free personal pizza to everyone at the game whenever the Cyclones score 5 or more goals at US Bank Arena this season… 
I also tried one of Donato’s 3 meat stromboli’s because… why not?
The stromboli was pretty good. Not as good as LaRosa’s calzones but still pretty good. Big thanks goes out to Donato’s and the Cyclones for making this promotion happen because free still makes pizza taste even more delicious! 🙂

ArtWorks mural: Completed.
This morning they were finishing taking down the rest of the scaffolding across Eighth Street. It looks like The ArtWorks Elizabeth Nourse mural is finished…
To be honest, it’s looked finished to me for quite a while now. Over the last few weeks, there really haven’t been any real noticeable changes to the mural. I’m guessing it was a lot of final touches and little details. When I was leaving work this evening, I snapped this photo of the finished mural…
A lot of pretty talented people put in a lot of hard work to make this happen. 🙂

Brunch at nada.
We went to brunch at nada this afternoon. It’s seems like it’s been forever since we’ve last had brunch at nada. We had a gift card, and we couldn’t think of a better place to use it. Genifer went with her incredibly beloved chicken tacos…
I went with the delicious chicken tinga…
And nada fries…
Throw in a couple of nadarita’s, some of nada’s incredible guacamole and it’s just been waaaay too long. Delicious, delicious stuff! 🙂

First Face-Off!
Hockey is back! Tonight was First Face-off. And the puck dropped on a new season of Cincinnati Cyclones hockey at US Bank Arena! 
There was a little bit bigger crowd tonight than for the preseason game…
At the end of the second period, it was 2-0 ‘Clones…
The Cyclones newest mascot, Puckchop…
And the Cyclones would add three more in the third to win 5-1!
Annnnd… new for this season whenever the Cyclones score 5 goals in a game, everyone in attendance gets a FREE one-topping personal pizza from Donato’s. How awesome is that? More free pizza! I’m really happy that hockey is back in downtown Cincinnati!

The Works.
After spending the afternoon at Blooms & Berries Farm Market, we stopped at The Works Brick Oven Pizzeria in Loveland for lunch…
We started with a half dozen chicken wings. Even though we just got them tossed in mild sauce, they still had a nice little zing to them…
And then we shared The Works’ signature pizza, The Commish…
Delicious stuff! I wish we lived closer to The Works because we’d be there all the time. 🙂

Genifer’s wedding band.
The downtown jewelry store where we got Genifer’s engagement ring, Richter & Phillips was having a 60% off sale this morning. Yesterday afternoon, we stopped in to look at wedding bands before the rush. Needless to say this morning, the place was packed…
This morning we got up and braved the crowds to get Genifer’s diamond infinity wedding band for a whopping 60% off…
You just can’t beat a deal like that. But we were really glad that we stopped in prior to the sale and had the ring we wanted on already on hold. It made everything so much easier. 🙂

OrderUp: Mad Mike’s Burgers.
OrderUp was running a promotion for our building this weekend for $8 off your order. So we ordered up some burgers from Mad Mike’s Burgers & Fries over across the river in Newport. We’d eaten at Mad Mike’s before, and it was really good stuff. Genifer ordered one of Mad Mike’s A Little Smaller Burgers cheeseburger. I went for broke and tried Mad Mike’s Goliath burger with American cheese, bacon, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato and BBQ sauce all sammiched between 2 Toasted Cheeses which were used as the buns. Yep. A double patty cheeseburger served between two toasted cheese sammiches…
And it was awesome! Messy as all get-up but deliciously awesome! God bless America! 🙂

Johnny Beisbol.
Our boy Johnny Cueto made good on his guarantee, and looked like the ace he is this evening. Johnny Beisbol was dominant retiring 19 straight Astros while throwing just 91 total pitches over eight innings, and propelling the Royals back to the ALCS… 
Congratulations to Johnny Cueto and the Kansas City Royals! I’d really love to see a Cubs-Royals World Series! Now that would be fun. Taken with Instagram. 🙂
