Weekend projects.

I got the plastic window insulation up on most of our windows this weekend before it became too cold outside and got really drafty inside our home…

It’s pretty crazy just how much difference a thin sheet of plastic over your windows can make in the comfortability inside…

Oscar did a very good job of supervising…

A lot of the lights in our bedroom had burned out. So I rehung new strings of decorative lights…

Oscar showed less interest in this activity but was on-hand to approve the final product…

And finally, we tested Christmas lights for our little Christmas tree and replaced some bulbs and fuses…

And once again, Oscar supervised. He’s a helper. 🙂

Redfest tickets!

We received two complimentary tickets to next weekend’s Redsfest at Duke Energy Center in the mail today from our beloved Cincinnati Reds…

Thanks Reds! Last season was a season of Reds baseball for the ages. We thoroughly enjoyed each and every game we attended. And we had an absolute blast at last year’s Redfest! But with all the trade rumors swirling around, we’re going to wait and see what happens with two of our favorite Reds, Aroldis Chapman and Brandon Phillips before we’ll be making any final decisions on whether or not we’ll be back as season ticket holders again next season. But we were definitely planning on attending Redfest! Thanks again for the free 2-day passes! 🙂

Seen & noted: BRU Burger Bar.

It looks like they’re getting really close to opening BRU Burger Bar at the corner of Walnut and Sixth Streets…

It’s always exciting when a new place is about to open in downtown Cincinnati’s Central Business District! 🙂

UPDATE: BRU has their sign up and open for business on Monday, December 7th…

I know where we’ll be on Monday! 🙂

Light Up the Square.

We headed over to Fountain Square this evening for the annual Light Up the Square

We got over to the Square right as the fireworks were starting…

Every year it seems like they try to cram more and more stuff around the ice rink on the Square, and there is less and less space to get a good view of stuff like Light Up the Square…

Click to see all the photos I took at this year’s Light Up the Square. 🙂

Black Friday.

Happy Black Friday morning from a little white dog…

As we were venturing out into the Black Friday afternoon, we couldn’t help but notice this funny, little guy on the sidewalk outside our building…

As is Black Friday tradition, we made our way to Lowe’s to pick out a little Christmas tree…

There’s our little Christmas tree!

We had lunch at Buckhead Mountain Grill…

And found DuClaw Brewing Company’s Sweet Baby Jesus at Party Source…

Our little tree at home…

We’ll have to decorate our little tree this week…

Later, we tried DuClaw Brewing Company’s Dirty Little Freak Coconut Caramel Chocolate Brown Ale

It was good. But not nearly as good as this…

Mmmm… Sweet Baby Jesus! And finally, we saw this guy made it inside our building…

Someone put him on top of the fireplace in the lobby. All in all, it was a pretty nice, relaxed Black Friday. 🙂

Our Thanksgiving.

We hope everyone had as great of a Thanksgiving as we did. Our morning started with some delicious magic crescent rolls…

We noticed the label on our cranberry sauce was on upside down…

Genifer was making the green bean casserole…

On the way over to Genifer’s mom’s house, we saw all these birds just hanging out being happy that they’re not turkeys…

We hope everyone had a very thankful and delicious Thanksgiving! I know we did. It was a great day. 🙂

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

So very thankful a great many things today.
Among them is being blessed with an amazing family.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Cyclones hockey game #5.

Tonight, we walked down to US Bank Arena to see our Cyclones take on the Fort Wayne Komets on the biggest bar night of the year. It’s our fifth hockey game of the season

US Bank Arena was packed tonight. It seems like every college kid in Cincinnati was at US Bank Arena. I wish I could say that everyone was there for the game…

Because it seemed like everyone was just in line for $1 beers. And once they got their beers, it seemed like they just got back in line. It made for ridiculously long lines everywhere in US Bank Arena not just for the dollar beers. We don’t remember it being that bad last year. Nowhere even close. But eventually, we did finally manage to get a couple of beers…

We ended up ducking out during the second intermission. When this game rolls around next season, I think this is one we’ll probably skip. We went to this game last year, and it wasn’t nearly as annoying. US Bank Arena was nutty and the concession lines were way out of control. And the Cyclones ended up losing 3-2 in overtime. :/

#TBT Pause for paws.

Milan used to love going to Fido Field…

He’d climb up the big hill…

To get up to the fenceline that ran along Gilbert Avenue…

And he’d wait patiently…

Waiting for cars to come around the bend…

And then race them down Gilbert Avenue…

He loved running and loved racing cars…

I really miss that bud dog. A lot. 🙂

Goodnight Moon.

When I was walking home from work, I couldn’t help but notice the big, bright moon hovering just above our building…

When we were walking Oscar, the moon was just as bright, if not brighter than the streetlights…

It looked like more like a moon you’d see around Halloween instead of a moon you’d see just a few days before Thanksgiving…

Goodnight Moon. Taken with Instagram. 🙂
