Sunday funday.

We ran over to the grocery store early this morning even before we walked the dogs…

And then we stopped for Biggby Coffee…

When we got home, we took the dogs on their walk…

Good morning from morning…

We headed down to The Banks to go to our fourth Reds baseball game of the season…

We got a DORA drink before heading into the ballpark…

Welcome to the Great American Ball park…

Our tickets were in our favorite section of the ballpark, The Fioptics District…

Apparently, Fountain Square has a new stage…

We walked up to Queen City Radio in OtR to see if they had their amazing Whip burgers. They did not. So we hopped in an Uber and stopped for a drink at Northside Tavern…

And then we came home to hang out in our backyard for a bit with our new little lights…

And while we were sitting out on our patio, we watched the Grizzlies win game one of their first round best of seven against the Utah Jazz.

It was a terrific Sunday. 😀🌄⚾️🍺💡❤️

Downtown details.

It was cold outside today. I was going to walk through the Skywalk to avoid the cold on my way to the bus. On my way to the Skywalk, I noticed that the Millenium Hotel was closed and undergoing a liquidation sale…

I walked through the Hyatt Regency up to the second floor across The Skywalk over to Carew Tower. Carew Tower was having their 2020 Fight For Air Climb to support the American Lung Association by climbing the 804 Stairs over 45 floors of Carew Tower…

I was going to continue on through the Skywalk from Carew Tower across Fifth Street to Fountain Place but that portion Skywalk was closed…

I left Carew Tower and noticed the skating rink on Fountain Square had been taken down, just as it’s starting to feel like actual skating weather…

The Booksellers on Fountain Square is closed now…

Looking inside Fountain Place everything is closed. And that made me wonder what happened to Palomino up on the second floor

I went to see if Palomino was still there and it didn’t look good…

And Palomino’s gone and that’s pretty sad. I was happy to see that the Toynbee Tile was still on Seventh Street

And I noticed that there was a new-to-me Artworks mural on the side of the Hustler just a little ways down Seventh Street…

I walked by Deskey and they removed the mantra they had on their front windows

I always thought the mantra was kind of ridiculous. The almost full moon was already starting to pop out from behind the buildings…

And the exterior of the building at the corner of Eighth and Main Streets looked really close to being completed…

It’s interesting to me how much things can change downtown over just a few months but also just how much things stay the same. And the only real constant is change.
😀🏙️🚧❤️

Booksellers on Fountain Square.

I just saw that The Booksellers on Fountain Square is closing…

The Booksellers had the most wonderful children’s book section. Downtown Cincinnati is losing another great shopping option. This building alone at the corner of Fifth and Vine Streets has lost a Macy’s, Tiffany & Co, and now The Booksellers. If you need to run out to get a last minute gift, it seems that downtown has fewer and fewer options with each passing day. And that’s a real shame.  😰📘❤️

A little bit earlier every year.

Just like the ridiculous ice skating rink on Fountain Square, that holiday tree seems to arrive a little bit earlier every year…

It makes me a little ill that they cut down a big beautiful tree every year. I really wish they would find a more sustainable alternative to cutting down a tree. Taken with Instagram. 😕🎄❤️

Finishing touches.

Downtown Cincinnati is almost ready for Blink Cincinnati 2019 this weekend…

Downtown is going to be stupid nuts this weekend. We’re going to just watch the Blink festivities on the Instagrams.  😀👁️❤️

Downtown details.

I was running some errands around downtown Cincinnati this afternoon, and I was kind of shocked to see that the Tiffany & Co. at Vine and Fifth Streets had closed…

It’s real shame. A while back the downtown TJ Maxx moved across the river to Newport. Then the downtown Macy’s closed their doors. And now Tiffany has left. The only real place to any shopping in the Central Business District is Saks Fifth Avenue. It getting harder and harder to do holiday or birthday shopping in CBD. And that’s a real shame. Also a real shame is the huge, old beautiful pine tree they cut down to display on Fountain Square for a little over a month…

I wish they would just get a big fake tree or come up with some alternative to chopping down a very old tree every year. But in an effort to remain positive, downtown did recently get a Frisch’s Big Boy in Carew Tower on Fifth Street…

I’ll have to check out the new Big Boy soon. Honestly, I keep forgetting it’s over there.

I guess the world giveth and taketh away. It seems like CBD has been more on the taketh side lately. And that also is a real shame.

Strauss Troy Market.

I keep forgetting about the Strauss Troy Market on Tuesdays at Fountain Square

I’ll have to try to remember to check it out for lunch next Tuesday. 🙂

Strauss Troy Market on the Square.

I was out running a few errands around downtown this afternoon, and I couldn’t help but notice that the Tuesday Strauss Troy Market has returned to Fountain Square…

And that means great food, sweet treats, fresh produce and handmade items each and every Tuesday at lunchtime from 11-2pm…

I can’t wait to start digging into some Eli’s BBQ and Revolution Rotisserie. 🙂

Downtown details.

Today is October 28th, and today’s high is near 70º. And noon today, the ice skating rink on Fountain Square is officially open for the ice skating season…

Because why wouldn’t you want to ice skate before Halloween?  Or have an Halloween costume contest ON the ice? Makes perfect sense to me. :/

Another head-scratcher is the location of the Queen City Exchange on Court Street…

Queen City Exchange is one of those bars with stock market-style beer pricing. Prices change in 25-cent increments as supply and demand of different beers fluctuate. Prices drop dramatically during three-minute “market crashes” announced by a ringing bell. After the market “closes” at 9 pm, beer prices will be fixed for the rest of the night due to some silly Ohio law.

It’s really a pretty fun bar concept as we got to witness first hand up in Michigan at Kalamazoo Beer Exchange. It’s just a really odd location because there isn’t anything else nearby. :/

Cincinnati T-Shirt Expo.

While out running some errands, I wandered through Fountain Square this afternoon to check out the Cincinnati T-Shirt Expo

Remember when the Cincinnati t-shirt fest encompassed all of Fountain Square? Yeah, not this year. There were just a small handful of booths, and they were tucked away in the far northwest corner of Square…

But there was still some good stuff. Quality over quantity, I guess.

I almost got one of these Northside t-shirts…

Almost. $25 seemed a bit steep for it.

I got Genifer FC Cincinnati leggings she’s being wanting from Cincy Shirts. And I got three cool t-shirts and a pullover from Loyal Clothing all for $40. You can’t beat that. Good stuff. 🙂
