Happy Memorial Day.

Remembering the brave men and women who sacrificed everything to keep us safe. Thank you to everyone who protect and serve our great country.

“As we commemorate Memorial Day, I ask you to hold all our fallen heroes in your hearts. And every day, letโ€™s work together to preserve what their sacrifices achieved to make our country even stronger, even more fair, even more free.”

Our Sunday funday.

We woke up early this morning to take Oscar to Petsmart to finally get his haircut. But first, we stopped to admire our front yard again in the morning light…

We were running a bit early for his appointment so to burn a little bit of time we stopped through the drive-thru at Biggby for some delicious Biggby coffee

Then it was time for to get his haircut…

While we were waiting for Oscar to get done with his grooming, we stopped to do some grocery shopping at Kroger…

Holy margarita display…

And it worked. We bought a bottle of peach margaritas. But this giant iguana in a tree didn’t get us to buy anything…

Oscar was ready to come home with some new toys…

And he looked so handsome again…

After we got home with Oscar with put away our groceries, we sunk our stepping stone into our front yard…

And then we rewarded ourselves with one of those margaritas in our backyard…

As we sat on our patio in our backyard, the skies started to look a bit ominous…

And was pretty much our Sunday. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ“…โค๏ธ

#ScareCorona, part 5.

We saw a few more ScareCoronas this evening. Here are the latest…

I had to walk down Pullan Avenue to see this one…

It’s the most amazing ScareCorona I’ve seen so far…

It was a rainy evening but the sky was really pretty…

And also, a rainy good evening from Northside. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿฆ ๐ŸŒ„wp-15891669894883245732497874256717.jpg

How cool is that? We love walking. And that’s a lot of Godzilla steps! ๐Ÿ˜€โšก๏ธโค๏ธ

Tiny little worlds.

We’ve noticed this little plant growing through a crack in the sidewalk while we were walking the dogs the last couple of days…

We’ve been calling it the little world. We’ve wondered if there is little life living in there that think they are living in a vast wilderness only to discover their vast wilderness is just a small blip on sidewalk leading up to a forest…

Still, the resilience of nature is pretty incredible. It reminds me of the powerful TV spot about Derrick Rose narrated by Tupac Shakur. ๐Ÿ˜€๐ŸŒณโค๏ธ

Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature’s law is wrong it
learned to walk without having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams,
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared.

Good evening from Northside.

It was a really beautiful evening tonight…

And after working on our front yard, we hung out in our backyard this evening…

Back to Taft’s Brewpourium.

As Cincinnati restaurants begin to finally reopen, things like hand sanitizing stations, masked servers, and social distanceโ€“marked floors are all going to apparently be the new dining-out norm. On Friday, May 15, Ohio restaurants put many of these practices into place as they reopened their patios. And yesterday, they followed by opening their indoor dining room service too.

So after working on our front yard all day, we decided to treat ourselves and order pizza to eat AT Taft’s Brewpourium. The way we figured it, it was all pretty poetic…

The Brewpourium was the last restaurant we ate at before the pandemic closed everything for just over two long months. It was only fitting that the Brewpourium was the first place we ate when restaurants finally reopened…

We dropped off a whole bunch of old growlers for recycling…

I think we almost completely filled those first two boxes.

Please wait to be seated is also going to be the new normal…

We were shown to our table…

We made fancy pants reservations because we thought there would be a whole lot more people craving to eat AT the Brewpourium as much as we were…

We were wrong. But we didn’t care. We had the place all to ourselves last time. Why not have the place all to ourselves this time too?

Cheers to dining out again!

AND…

And, and, and… Taft’s Brewpourium had their incredible chicken wings back available. And I had been missing their wings so much. They weren’t available for online ordering during the shutdown. I almost ordered 12 wings. But there’s no way two people can eat 12 Brewpourium wings. No way. So we got 6 Cherrywood BBQ wings and a small white pizza with sausage. And it was amazing to be back out somewhere…

Their white pizza was seriously delicious…

After we finished eating, we just sat there and had a couple of beers and stared out their garage door windows that were wide open. And it was heavenly.

We’re really glad that all the restaurants, especially Taft’s Brewpourium are back open. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ”๐Ÿบโค๏ธ

We hope people are smart and use common sense when they’re out so that the inevitable second wave of COVID-19 is minimized as much as possible. But we weren’t not going to hold our breath. People are idiots.

Our front yard.

Happy start to long Memorial Day weekend! We both had the day off work today so we took this opportunity to work on our front yard. We got up early this morning and ran over to Lowe’s to get some supplies. This is what we were starting with…

A few weeks ago, we ripped up a bunch of weeds and some grass on the far side of our lawn. When we got home from Lowe’s, we pulled up the bricks that lined our path in our backyard and brought them around to the front yard to create an area to contain some small stones…

We planted a couple of little bushes and laid down weed barrier fabric…

And then we added all our bags of stones and placed our stepping stones…

It’s turning out really nice. We’re really happy with the progress we’ve made. We need a few more bags of stones and sink our stepping stones a bit. But we’ll keep plugging away to make our front yard look nicer. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿกโค๏ธ
