An afternoon in Waynesville.

Good morning from Northside…

They were working on our street this morning…

Early this afternoon, we headed up to Waynesville

They were having a little street faire that we wanted to check out and we wanted to wander in and out of the all the little shop in the “antique capital of the MIdwest…”

Waynesville has a lot of very historic buildings…

We were going to eat at Stone House Tavern

So we walked back down to the end of the street faire to one of the food trucks…

They had Canadian Poutine…

Believe it or not, we’ve never had poutine before. And it was delicious…

We stopped for a espresso milk shake…

When we were done shopping, we ordered a pizza to take home with us…

And Genifer got and coffee and I got a strawberry smoothie for the ride home…

Good evening from Northside…

They didn’t make much progress on our street…

The pizza was delicious! Waynesville was a lot of fun. We were looking for old paintings to hang in our dining room. We found a few paintings to get us started. It was a really good Sunday. 😀🌄🚧🛍️🖼️🍕❤️

Dropping off our best friend.

Good morning from Northside…

After work, we dropped Mack off at Best Friends Pet Hotel…

He’s been getting better and better in the car. We’re so proud of him.

Genifer dropped Oscar off at Grandma’s house earlier.

And then we were on our way to Louisville for the weekend…

We’re looking forward to our weekend road trip. 😀🌄🐾🗺️❤️

Hello from Northside.

Good morning from Northside…

Good evening from Northside…

Do you remember Hank?

Hank was the little dog rescued by the Milwaukee Brewers when he wandered into their spring training facility before the start of the 2014 MLB season. He became an unofficial mascot of the Brewers. Seven years ago, it was announced that near the end of the season, the Brewers would have a BobbleHank night at Miller Park in Milwaukee. And as a result, we went to up to Milwaukee to get our BobbleHanks and had a really fun weekend.

It’s crazy to think that trip was seven years ago. 😀🌄☀️🗺️⚾️🐶❤️

Good morning from Indy.

Good morning from downtown Indianapolis…

Across the street from our hotel was Cafe Patachou

I ordered a Belgian waffle with fruit…

It was delicious. But Genifer completely out-ordered me with her incredible croissant french toast…

Cafe Patachou had some amazing coffees. When we were done with our breakfast, we got coffees to go and some snacks for later…

Thanks, Indianapolis! We had a blast!

And then it was back to Cincinnati…

On the way home, we stopped to pick up Mack from The Pet Spot

We’ll get Oscar and Bear from Geri’s after our fence is done. I think Mack was pretty happy to be home…

And we were really excited to try these guys later…

It was a great, really quick little adventure. 😀🗺️🧇❤️

Road trip to Indianapolis.

ROAD TRIP! This afternoon we drove over to Indianapolis. Before we left to go to North Carolina, we bought tickets on one of those ticket resale sites for the USL soccer match between Indy 11 and our favorite USL squad, Louisville City…

We dropped Mack at Pet Spot for the night and we dropped Oscar at Geri’s before heading over to Indianapolis…

Compared to all the driving we did last weekend, the drive over to Indianapolis really seemed like nothing. It went by so fast…

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Indianapolis…

It was a really nice hotel with a beautiful open air atrium…

Our room was very nice as well…

Before the match, we shared a BBQ burger and pepperjack cheese bites at Loughmiller’s Pub…

Amazing burger. And then it was on to Lucas Oil Stadium…

Indy 11 pulled back a goal from a penalty kick just the before the halftime whistle. And that made the score 3-1 to Lou City at the half.

After seeing four goals in the first half, we broke camp in the 60th minute. We didn’t want to wait around to see if Indy 11 could mount a pretty epic comeback.

Lucas Oil Stadium sure is a beautiful place to watch a game. We were so happy we got to see it with the roof open and without many people inside. The announced attendance was just 6,700.

And the final score of the match was Lou City 3-1 over Indy 11. We saw all the goals. Plus, we were sitting behind the goal where Lousiville scored all three of their goals and then we moved to the other end and were sitting behind the goal when Indy 11 scored their PK. Pretty neat stuff.

We stopped for a postgame drink at Brothers…

And then we meandered through downtown back to our hotel…

We ordered pizza and called it a night…

And good night from Indianapolis. It was a really fun day! 😀🗺️⚽️🍺❤️

And we’re back.

We’re back from our road trip to Duck, North Carolina in the Outer Banks. We were really happy that we had the chance to getaway for a few days. And we had a really wonderful time…

The house we stayed in was really nice, a little older but it had plenty of space and a terrific salt water pool. It was also in a great location just outside out of downtown Duck with just a short walk down Seahawk Drive West and then to the beach. We spent a lot of time at the beach and in the pool

We got up to watch the sunrise on the beach one morning, and got coffees from three different coffee shops… Sweet T’s, Duck Cottage and Treehouse Coffee. We also got espresso milkshakes from Sunset Ice Cream. We had some really great meals at Rundown Cafe (Bloody Marys and coconut shrimps), Duck Duck Burgers (mmmmburgers), Treehouse Coffee (chicken biscuit), Coastal Cravings (crab cakes, shrimps, clams and hush puppies) and Aqua (Mahi tacos and fish & chips with bang shrimps and the banana pudding cheesecake). So much good stuff. And we got to wander through some of the many souvenir shops.

This trip marked two years in a row for us at the Outer Banks. We really liked Duck. We liked it a lot more than when we were out in Nags Head last year. Duck was very walkable. It just seemed like there was more to do and everything was a lot closer.

We really hope to make a trip to the Outer Banks an every year event. It’s really wonderful out there. And we just really like it a lot. We’re already thinking about our next trip out to the Outer Banks. Did I mention we like it out there?

We drove out to Outer Banks through Ohio through West Virginia. It was really pretty driving through West Virginia but the Google Maps took us on these twisting, turning little two lane roads through the mountains that were pretty white knuckle at times. It turns out that we had the “avoid toll roads” option turned ON in Google Maps. And it took us on some of the most narrow winding roads through the mountains of West Virginia from Charleston to Lewisburg. We stopped in Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday night. And we found a Krispy Kreme right by our hotel Sunday morning. And we coasted the rest of the way into Duck on Sunday afternoon.

After relaxing in Duck for the week, we dropped down the coast to Surf City on Top Sail Island. We had lunch at Surf Dog (I got my delicious Carolina BBQ) and had a beer at Salty Turtle Beer Co. before staying at North Top Sail Beach. We swam in their pool, watched Goonies in our room and drank a crowler from Salty Turtle.

We drove back home through North Carolina to avoid the treacherous West Virginia mountain roads but the roads on the way back got a little dicey too. Not nearly as bad a West Virginia but there was a 20 mile stretch that wasn’t a cake walk. But we also got to go through a tunnel. So, it all evens out. We eventually made it and we stopped in Knoxville and had pizza before heading home the next day.

We took a bunch of photos during our adventure. We didn’t do a lot with Instagram this trip. I think we’ve kind of lost interest in the ‘grams. I might go and #Latergram some photos. But our Flickr album from this trip has over 1000 photos. There were just a lot of great memories made on this trip.

It was a great trip. We had a wonderful time. But it’s really nice to be home.😀🗺️🏖️❤️

Forecastle Fest 2020.

They released the 2020 lineup this morning for Forecastle Fest

And it looks like we’ll be heading back to Louisville this summer to see Jack Johnson play on Friday! Plus both the Louisville Bats and Louisville City FC play at home on Saturday. It’s already shaping up for another fun weekend in July! 😀🗺️🎶❤️

Louisville is pretty awesome.

We had such a good time in Louisville this weekend. Our hotel was right across the street from KFC Yum Center. It was the perfect location for our trip. On Friday, we walked to Lousiville’s Waterfront Park where we saw The Killers at Forecastle and had some incredible Louisville-style pizza from Bearno’s afterward. On Saturday, we walked to get coffee from Please&Thank You. We were just going to get coffee and go back to the hotel. But we wandered off to find a house close by where Thomas Edison lived for a year when he was nineteen and then proceeded to stumble upon three breweries within a few blocks of each other… Falls City, Akasha, and Goodwood. We made it back to the hotel to rest and change before we headed back out to walk over to Against the Grain Brewing at Lousiville Slugger Field before we watched a Lousiville Bats game and met the Louisville Bat mascot. Afterward, we had more Lousiville-style pizza from Impellizzeri’s. Sunday morning we had breakfast at Dish on Market before heading home. Louisville is just a little over an hour away. We’ll definitely have to come back when Louisville City finish their USL soccer stadium if not sooner. 😀🗺️📷❤️

Who knew Louisville is so dang awesome? And we can’t wait to go back.
