Well, it’s almost back. The Premier League season begins again in earnest tomorrow with newly promoted Brentford playing host to my Arsenal. In anticipation of the new season, here is the new Premier League Matchday Intro for the 2021/22 season. And it’s absolutely magnificent…
Welcome back, Premier League. I simply cannot wait for tomorrow. And come on you, Gunners! 😀⚽️😍❤️
I played NBA fantasy basketball again this year. And just like last years COVID shortened season, I played eight teams again. Seven of my eight teams made the playoffs. Six of those seven made it to the championship round. And four of those six won their leagues. Four championships from eight teams is pretty good, right?
Fantasy basketball makes the basketball season so much fun, and this was another great season. 😀🏀🏆❤️
I’ve been a fan of Arsenal football club for as long as I can remember. My love for the club dates back to the early nineties. Way back in the day, I would watch (and record) the hour-long highlight show from the week that was in the English first division. And I fell in love with Arsenal. I fell hard. Their name, their kit, their larger-than-life cast of characters, their style of play with all the intricate passing, and jaw-dropping team goals. Before Arsene Wenger led the club to new heights. Heck, even before there was even an English Premier League. Arsenal has just always been my team for as long as I can remember.
Fast forward to the start of the 2014/15 season, and newly promoted Leceister City caught my attention. I still remember the piece NBCSN did on the newly promoted Foxes from “Lester.” And I thought if Arsenal were my top-of-the-table team, Leceister would be my relegation battle team. Leicester survived their first season back in the Premier League and then went on to become Premier League Champions during their unbelievably magical 2015/16 season. All of a sudden Leicester is my team competing for top-four finishes. Because in the meantime, Arsenal forced out their club legend manager, Arsene Wagner and is now somehow a middle of the table team.
Long story short, I’m a big fan of two football clubs.
Today, Leicester played in their fifth FA Cup final. They’d made the finals on four other occasions and lost all four, the last itme being during the 1968/69 season.
But today, the Foxes won their first-ever FA Cup by beating Chelsea 1-0on a Youri Tielemans goal from 25 yards out. I collected a bunch of images from social media to commemorate the occasion…
It was an amazing match! It had a bit of everything… a banger of a goal from Youri Tielemans, an iconic save from Kasper Schmeichel, VAR controversary and most importantly, Leicester City lifting the Cup!
I don’t know if you’ve been following along but a new European football Super League was proposed recently with twelve of Europe’s biggest football clubs wanting to create their own closed Super League simply so they could make more money. I’m not really a fan of James Corden but his take on this proposed Super League was spot on…
Also, mad respect to him for doing an eight minute segment on American TV knowing that most people couldn’t care less about European football.
Anyway, the people that did care about European football were pretty pissed about the proposed new Super League…
My favorite club Arsenal was one of the twelve teams that wanted to break away. The official Arsenal supporters organization in the United States released this statement…
And just as quickly as the Super League was created, it all fell apart as teams started to come to their sense and began backing out…
Now it’s the Fyre Festival of the footballing world…
And now comes the fallout…
Rest in peace, Super League. I hope to never hear about you again. 😠😡🤬⚽🤣
This morning we hopped in an Uber to get downtown to go to our first Reds baseball is what seems like forever. Before the game, we stopped at the relatively new DORA (Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area) in The Banks…
We rode the Streetcar up into OtR. We walked to The Pony to share their incredible Chicken Fingers and then we were going to walk to Mecca for a drink or two but they don’t open until six. So we wandered around OtR for a bit…
