The world almost felt normal today.

Good morning from Northside…

This morning we hopped in an Uber to get downtown to go to our first Reds baseball is what seems like forever. Before the game, we stopped at the relatively new DORA (Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area) in The Banks…

We stopped at Fishbowl at The Banks to share a little fishbowl…

And then we headed into Great American Ball Park…

It felt so good to be back home…

BARGE!

And this one belongs to the Reds! They whooped the Cards 12-1.

We found our Reds All-Star Legacy brick

We rode the Streetcar up into OtR. We walked to The Pony to share their incredible Chicken Fingers and then we were going to walk to Mecca for a drink or two but they don’t open until six. So we wandered around OtR for a bit…

And ended up at Holiday Spirits for a drink…

And then we hopped in an Uber and headed for home.

Good evening from Northside…

And it was an incredible day too. The world almost felt normal today. We’ve missed baseball so much. Especially Sunday baseball. 😀🌄⚾️🐔🍻❤️

And chicken tenders for later.

Good morning from Northside…

We got NYPD hoagies for lunch today…

And I got chicken tenders for lunch tomorrow.

Good evening from Northside…

There was a 99.9% full moon tonight over Northside…

And this evening we watched Michigan thump Florida State to reach the Elite Eight…

Two years ago, we were watching Opening Day baseball and having Habenero Mango Oberons at Pony…

Gosh. I miss baseball and Pony. Still, we had a pretty good Sunday. 😀🌄☁️🥪🍟🏀❤️

It was a really fun Saturday.

This morning we were out running errands and got coffees from Hyde Perk

Later, we went down to Over-the-Rhine. We stopped to admire OtR’s Ziegler Park

Then we stopped at The Pony for lunch. They had Bell’s Pineapple Jalapeno Oberon on tap. And it was sooooo good…

The Pony has some of the best chicken tenders in all of Cincinnati…

Then we walked down Main Street to finally get to check out the relatively new Pins Mechanical Company just down from The Pony…

Pins has Duck Pin Bowling…

We didn’t try any bowling. We’ll have to save that fun for another time. And upon the second floor of Pins…

Pins has a whole bunch of pinball machines…

Upon the third floor, they have an awesome patio with a bocce ball court and giant Jenga. But that is another story for another time. On the way home, we stopped at Second Place to watch the end of the Champions League Final…

It was another pretty fun Saturday. 😀🐴🎳❤️

Sunday funday.

This afternoon we went downtown got an Uber to see this afternoon’s Reds game…

They were playing the Pirates in a doubleheader today…

We had tickets way back at the beginning of the season for the Reds second game…

But it got rained out which led to the FC|C monsoon game

There’s this new outpost bar out by the Wiffle ball field at GABP…

They’re always adding something new at the ballpark…

And the Reds lost 8-5. But of course, they won the second game 8-1 with a Jose Iglesias grand slam in a six-run first inning. And Puig and Double D went back-to-back in the 7th. Figures. After the game, we passed through Taste of Cincinnati…

Soooo many people. We also walked by our old apartment building. They built a whole brand new dog area in front of Sycamore Place…

It looked really nice. It smelled a bit like dog pee when we were walked by but it was a much better use of the space than when it was just a silly ten space parking lot…

And we kept walking up in OtR to have lunch at The Pony

And then we hopped in an Uber and headed for home. It was another really fun Sunday. 😀⚾️🐴❤️

Today was Genifer’s birthday!

Today was my beautiful wife’s birthday. Genifer’s mom sent these fun balloons and very pretty flowers. When we opened the door to take the dogs on a walk, the flowers were sitting on our porch. We opened the door and the balloons scared poor Mack half to death. He jumped a foot straight up in the air…

Thank you to my parents for their lovely card. And thank you to everyone for all the happy birthday wishes. This afternoon we went out in OtR to celebrate…

We started at Queen City Radio…

We stopped by Cobblestone…

And Longfellows…

We walked up to The Pony…

And then we walked over to the new Holiday Spirits…

It was a really fun evening. Happy birthday, Genifer. I love you so much! 😀🎂🎊🍺❤️

Best laid plans.

We had a whole entire day of Cincinnati sports planned today. A couple of weeks ago, we bought Fioptics District tickets for today’s afternoon Reds game. And then after the Reds game, we were going to ride the Metro 17 bus up to tonight’s FC Cincinnati match. Before the Reds game, we stopped to eat lunch at The Pony

And look what they still had on draft…

BELL’S MANGO HABANERO OBERON!

The Pony is such a great little place…

We shared a chicken finger basket. Their chicken fingers are just out of this world…

And we shared their delicious chicken wing dip…

It was remarkably similar to Genifer’s buffalo chicken dip. But it was served with Frito’s instead of tortilla chips. I really liked it with Frito’s. I liked it a lot. Genifer also got the very last of the Bell’s Mango Habanero Oberon…

While we were eating, it would alternate between being sunny outside and then a few minutes later it would be pouring down rain. We were watching the Reds Twitter for any updates, And as we were getting ready to head down towards the ballpark, this tweet popped up…

The start of the Reds game was delayed. And then there was this tweet that popped up a little while later…

Bummer. You know what they say about best-laid plans, right? At least we got a really good lunch out of it at The Pony. 😀🐴🌧️⚾️❤️

Our Opening Day in OtR.

After work, we stopped by Platform Brewing’s Locoba at Twelfth and Main Streets to watch the Reds Opening Day baseball game against the Pirates…

We had a couple of Platform’s beer while we watched the game…

Both of the beers were very tasty…

And the Reds won their Opening Day game 5-3 after a four-run seventh inning, capped off by a three-run pinch-hit home run from Derek Dietrich…

And then we walked down Main Street to The Pony…

Where we found that The Pony had Bell’s Habanero Mango Oberon on tap…

And they were giving away Bell’s Oberon chapsticks…

It was a pretty great Opening Day! It’s great to have baseball back! 😀⚾️❤️

The most epic Saturday.

This afternoon we bus the Cincinnati Metro 17 bus downtown to celebrate my birthday. First stop on our adventure was one of most favorite bars from when we used to live downtown, Igby’s

From Igby’s, we walked down to The Banks

We were planning to eat at Moerlein Lager House

But even after being open all this time, it was still packed on a Saturday night…

So instead, we walked back up to the new Galla Park where the old Crave used to be…

I’ve been on a White Russian kick since we went to Northside Distilling

As is our new custom, we shared Galla Park’s giant soft pretzel…

It was pretty terrific. Their mustard was outstanding. And we also shared Galla Park’s Cuban sammich…

It was very good as well. It’s good to see that something new is now in the space the Crave used to occupy. We have a lot of fun memories in that space. From Galla Park, we headed down the block to US Bank Arena

Ealier, we bought tickets to tonight’s Cyclones hockey game against Tulsa Oilers…

In the new ECHL app, you can purchase Cyclones tickets through your phone…

And that means, we don’t have to wait in line to buy Cyclones tickets anymore…

It was a pretty full house tonight at US Bank Arena…

Cheers! It’s good to be back ‘Clones!

The Cyclones were already up 2-0 by the time we were in our seats…

And it was pink the rink night tonight…

At the end of the second period, it was 6-1…

And then there was chuck-a-puck…

CYCLONES WIN!

The Cyclones thumped the Oilers 7-1! Seven Cyclones goals and four fights makes for one heck of a hockey game. It was great to finally be back at US Bank Arena watching our Cyclones play hockey again. And soon we’ll be back at GABP too!

From US Bank Arena, we walked over to catch the Streetcar Cincinnati Connector

We rode it up into Over-the-Rhine and got off at Twelfth and Vine Streets…

We walked back down Twelfth Street to Main to the new Platform Beer taproom that just opened for the very first time tonight…

We found this little private room where we could hang out and drink our beers…

I don’t normally dig wallpaper in bathrooms but this wallpaper is just wow…

Platform’s taprom is such a fun place and an incredible additon to Main Street…

From Platform, we walked up Main Street to The Pony for a nightcap…

And from The Pony we hopped in an Uber and headed home. And it brought to an end a pretty epic Saturday. 😀🥃🏒🍺❤️
