One year ago today.

One year ago, I watched the start of March Madness at work on my iPad and iPod…

And then after work, we stopped by Queen City Radio to watch some more hoops…

And we shared a delicious Whip Classic burger…

Mmmmmm, Whip Classic. I can’t wait until we can have a Whip Classic again.

And Opening Day was only SIX days away…

Oh good times. I really miss sports. Hopefully, they’ll start again soon. πŸ˜€πŸ€πŸ»πŸ”β€οΈ

A world without sports.

Last night, the NBA shocked everyone by abruptly suspending the remaining games of their season after a player on the Utah Jazz tested positive for coronavirus…

But at least, my Mavs are the 2019/20 Champions. This afternoon, Michigan was set to begin their 2020 B1G TEN tournament against Rutgers in Indianapolis at a Bankers Life Fieldhouse without any spectators…

And just as the game was about to tipoff, the entire tournament was canceled…

Both teams were on the floor, warmed up and ready to tip-off their tournament and then the plug was pulled on the whole thing.

Some things are bigger than basketball. This is a global situation and we need to make sure we follow the guidance and direction of the experts and health officials. While we are disappointed of not being able to play this event β€” especially for Zavier and Jon.

We need to stay bonded together during this time. We want everyone to stay safe and take precautions to protect yourselves and loved ones.

We are a Michigan family… forever.

β€” Michigan Head Coach, Juwan Howard

But on the upside, Michigan is still undefeated against Rutgers.

And less than an hour later, MLS postponed their season for 30 days…

No Minnesota United soccer for a while

In a related story, I’m done with FC Cincinnati. Completely done. But that’s another post for another time. And not long after MLS, USL followed suit and suspended their season for at least 30 days as well…

Louisville City just completed their soccer-specific stadium before the beginning of this season, and now they’re going to have to wait a little while longer to christen their stadium. But it looks just beautiful…

A few hours later, it was baseball’s turn…

And then later this afternoon, March Madness turned into March Sadness…

Ha. And when I got home from work, I saw an update from England…

Apparently, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been diagnosed with COVID-19…

The FA is scheduled to release a statement of the future of the English Premier League season. I’m guessing it will be postponed for the foreseeable future…

And there you go. Now we’re living in my nightmare, a world without sports. It’s a very sad day. And it’s going to be a really long month. 😭🚫❀️

UPDATE: The Premier League season has been suspended with the intention of returning on April 4. The League intends to reschedule the postponed matches.

And the NBA season is likely to resume. Games could return in April and possibly go straight into the playoffs, or the league could push the entire calendar back. But my Mavericks will always be 2019/20 NBA Champions to me.

Our Saturday.

This morning we got up early and went to Trader Joe’s and then to Kroger for groceries. Afterward, we stopped at Biggby Coffee for our weekend morning drinks…

It was kind of a sports Saturday. We watched Leicester draw with Chelsea, Xavier beat #10 Seton Hall, the second half of Wolves super boring draw with United, Michigan beat #25 Rutgers. And later, #23 Wichita State lost to Tulsa. The two underdogs we were cheering for won but the favorited Shockers lost and both of our soccer teams drew.

We finished watching 11.22.63 on Hulu. It was really good. We wished it would have kept going for more episodes. We started watching a new series on Netflix. This one isΒ  called The Stranger. It seems like another pretty good one. πŸ˜€β˜•οΈβš½οΈπŸ€πŸ“Ίβ€οΈ

Another rainy Saturday.

This morning we woke up early again to head over to Trader Joe’s before it got too crazy busy on Saturday. The later it gets, the busier it gets. We usually try to get to Trader Joe’s as close to 8am when it open as we can. This morning was our best time
so far. We pulled into their parking lot at 8:02am…

I just thought that little berry bunny was pretty cute. We didn’t get any frozen chocolate cover strawberry pieces though. I wonder if they would be good?

After we were done getting groceries at TJ’s, we headed over to get our Saturday morning coffee at Biggby

Biggby is our reward for getting up and getting groceries out of the way. We both got hot chocolates this morning. Biggby had more student artwork on display on their walls. I really liked the hills with the watercolor skies…

The owl and the elephant were really great too…

And if we had a daughter and named her Niala…

She would be Niala Fiala. Maybe Niala could be a middle name.

Later, we went over to Taft’s Brewpourium for another lunch with our gift cards we got for Christmas…

Taft’s had a new Hazelnut Latte Coffee Milk Stout on tap…

And it was really delicious. We watched the Michigan-Illinois game on our little tablet. We shared a small pizza with pepperoni, sausage and banana peppers…

We also shared some of Taft’s chicken wings…

We had six buffalo wings and six Cherrywood BBQ wings…

I think I really like the Cherrywood BBQ the best. But they’re both really good. And even though, Michigan lost. Again. It was a great lunch. We just love Taft’s pizza and wings.

Later, we started watching a series called 11.22.63 on Hulu. It’s pretty good so far. And even though it was another rainy day, it was another pretty good Saturday. πŸ˜€πŸŒ¨οΈβ€οΈ

Unranked to #4.

After winning the Battle 4 Atlantis, Michigan jumped all the way to number 4…

Who has it better than us?! GO BLUE! πŸ˜€γ€½οΈπŸ€πŸ†β€οΈ

Pizza King pizza for the win!

This afternoon we hung out at home with my parents, ate delicious Pizza King pizza

And watched Michigan Hoops compete in the Battle 4 Atlantis basketball tournament in the Bahamas. Yesterday, unranked Michigan knocked-off #6, North Carolina…

Oddly enough, Michigan beat North Carolina one year ago to the day. On November 28th 2019, the 7th-ranked Wolverines stormed back from an early double-digit deficit to beat the No. 11 Tar Heels 84-67 Wednesday in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Michigan forward Ignas Brazdeikis led all scorers with 24 points for the Wolverines.

Today, Michigan was playing #8, Gonzaga in the championship game…

The best weekend of the year.

It’s the official start of the best sports weekend of the year. Today, March Madness has begun and the 2019 NCAA basketball tournament tipped off…

So much basketball. πŸ˜€πŸ€β€οΈ

Six years ago.

Thanks for the memories, Timehop!πŸ˜€πŸ¦•β€οΈAND #GoBLUE! πŸ˜€πŸ€1⃣❀️

Sunday Funday.

We went back to Taft’s Brewpourium to watch Michigan take on Rutgers. We hadn’t been to the Brewpourium for a quick minute…

While we were watching the game, we ordered another one of Taft’s New Haven-style apizzas, some of their delicious garlic knots, loaded tots topped with Cincinnati chili and some great Taft’s beers…

Everything was as delicious as always. And Michigan beat Rutgers 62-47! We always have a good time at Taft’s Brewpourium.Β πŸ˜€πŸ•πŸ“ΊπŸ€β€οΈ

It has begun!

One of the best sports weekends of the year is finally back!

NCAA March Madness started today! HOORAY! πŸ™‚
