Happy Valentine’s Day.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Good morning from Northside…

We ran over to the grocery this morning…

I thought Ice Bear had been pulled out of the claw machine…

But he was just moved from the front corner to the back corner. poor guy…

They were still out of pandas and trains…

But there were still plenty of Valentine’s Day balloons…

Lotsa balloons…

Cincinnati was expecting a big winter storm starting later in the afternoon. And that made the check-out lines really long…

And we stopped for coffees…

Arsenal smacked around Leeds United, 4-2. And Michigan was finally back from their three week COVID pause and they had to play away to Wisconsin…

And BOOM! They didn’t miss a beat…

After the Michigan game, we went over to Taft’s for pizza…

We tried Taft’s newest beer, Hazy Cabana Juice

It was really good. We got some loaded tots…

Very blurry tots. And we got a pepperoni, sausage and mushroom pizza…

Taft’s had a Valentine’s Day special with a heart-shaped pizza and cannoli. We didn’t get the special deal but they had extra cannoli and gave us a couple…

Good evening from Northside…

And then we hung out and had a few drinks and watched Mavs basketball…

It probably wasn’t the world’s most romantic Valentine’s Day but it was a really great Sunday. πŸ˜€πŸŒ„β˜οΈπŸ•πŸ€β€οΈ

Today was a really good day.

Today was my birthday. Apparently, there was a full moon last night and we could still sort of see it out of our bathroom window this morning…

There were some really pretty clouds this morning…

Good morning from Northside…

This morning we ran over to the Kroger Fuel Station to fill up…

We had 80Β’ off per gallon thanks to our Kroger Fuel points…

And then we ran over to Mad Llama for birthday coffee…

JAVA WHIPS!

And it was 29ΒΊ on January 29th…

Good evening from Northside…

Birthday presents!

We had a $10 off coupon from DoorDash so we ordered dinner from China Food

We ordered so much food…

But it was delicious. We can’t wait to order more dinners from China Food.

Later, we watched the Mavs lose to the Jazz. Bummer. And over in the Big Ten, #19 Illinois knocked off #7 Iowa…

Afterward, I saw this on Twitter

And there was this one. 🀣 Poor Sparty. They’re having a rough year. I really miss Michigan basketball. I can’t wait until they’re done with their quarantine.

I had a really wonderful birthday. Especially for being in the middle of a pandemic…

Thank you for all the cards and birthday wishes. πŸ˜€πŸŒ„β›½οΈβ˜•οΈπŸŽπŸ₯‘❀️

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

Today, we remember the legacy of a great man. We honor The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr… a man who dared to dream while standing fearlessly in the face of adversity. We celebrate the man who taught us to dream while still loving others…

β€œWe may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.”

β€œAn individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.”

β€œLove is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend.”

β€œOnly in the darkness can you see the stars.”

β€œEverybody can be great … because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

We both had the day off work today for the holiday. It was a cold and snowy day…

Good morning from Northside…

Genifer made cheesy buffalo chicken pasta with garlic bread for lunch…

Good evening from Northside…

I realized when we got to the stairs at the top of the hill at the end of our street that I had forgotten my little fisheye Moment lens

Today, we watched Arsenal beat Newcastle 3-0. And we watched the MLK Day NBA games especially the Grizzlies win over the Suns. I like the Griz. I think they have the best logo in the NBA. It was a very nice day off. And another very low-key, relaxing day. πŸ˜€πŸŒ„β„οΈπŸ”₯πŸ”βš½οΈπŸ€β€οΈ

Pizza with friends.

It was so nice this morning. The temperature was supposed to be in the low 60s today…

Good morning from Northside…

Day twelve of my Lego City Advent Calendar…

Early this afternoon it started pouring down rain though it was hard to tell from our third-floor WyzeCam

It rained for about an hour. And then it stopped just before we went to meet our friends Mehwish and Ben at the only place we really go to anymore because of the pandemic… Taft’s Brewpourium. We met them over there to hang out, catch up,
and of course, have a beer and eat some pizza…

I forgot to take a photo of all of us. I’m so bad at remembering to take a photo when we’re hanging out with people. Or maybe just self-conscious or something. But I did remember to take a photo of our pizzas…

This was Taft’s new pizza, The Fiamma…

It’s their mozzarella with tomato sauce base topped with hot soppressata and hot honey drizzle. And it was a really delicious pizza. It turns out soppressata was less like salami and more like pepperoni. The honey on the pizza was really good. And it was hot warm, not hot spicy. It was a really terrific pie.

TRAIN!

And we saw a beautiful sunset from Taft’s…

We had so much fun hanging out with Mehwish and Ben. It was great to see them, hang out and catch up. It’s been a minute since we’ve hung out with other people.

It ended up being a pretty evening in Northside…

Good evening from Northside…

The NBA preseason started this evening with both my Mavs and Grizzlies playing their first games of the new season. We didn’t get to watch either of their games. We don’t get many of the Mavs or Grizz games on TV. But it’s terrific to know that NBA Basketball is back!

We had a pretty fun Saturday. πŸ˜€πŸŒ„πŸŒ§οΈπŸ•πŸš‚πŸ€β€οΈ

The last of the cupcakes.

Good morning from Northside…

I don’t remember what we had for dinner. But we finished the cupcakes

It’s always a little sad when you eat your last cupcake.

Good evening from Northside…

And we played ball in the backyard…

We watched the Grizzlies beat the Bucks by 13 to officially clinched a spot in the Western Conference play-in game against the Portland Trailblazers. It was probably the Grizzlies best win of the bubble. I like the Grizzlies. I think they have the best logo in the NBA. But then again, I just really like bears. So I might be biased. And we watched the Phoenix Suns finish a perfect 8-0 in the NBA bubble as they defeated our Mavericks, 128-102. I’ve been really getting into the NBA bubble games. The officiating has been horrible as ever. But it’s been fun to watch the basketball. πŸ˜€πŸŒ„πŸΎπŸ€β€οΈ

A world without sports.

Last night, the NBA shocked everyone by abruptly suspending the remaining games of their season after a player on the Utah Jazz tested positive for coronavirus…

But at least, my Mavs are the 2019/20 Champions. This afternoon, Michigan was set to begin their 2020 B1G TEN tournament against Rutgers in Indianapolis at a Bankers Life Fieldhouse without any spectators…

And just as the game was about to tipoff, the entire tournament was canceled…

Both teams were on the floor, warmed up and ready to tip-off their tournament and then the plug was pulled on the whole thing.

Some things are bigger than basketball. This is a global situation and we need to make sure we follow the guidance and direction of the experts and health officials. While we are disappointed of not being able to play this event β€” especially for Zavier and Jon.

We need to stay bonded together during this time. We want everyone to stay safe and take precautions to protect yourselves and loved ones.

We are a Michigan family… forever.

β€” Michigan Head Coach, Juwan Howard

But on the upside, Michigan is still undefeated against Rutgers.

And less than an hour later, MLS postponed their season for 30 days…

No Minnesota United soccer for a while

In a related story, I’m done with FC Cincinnati. Completely done. But that’s another post for another time. And not long after MLS, USL followed suit and suspended their season for at least 30 days as well…

Louisville City just completed their soccer-specific stadium before the beginning of this season, and now they’re going to have to wait a little while longer to christen their stadium. But it looks just beautiful…

A few hours later, it was baseball’s turn…

And then later this afternoon, March Madness turned into March Sadness…

Ha. And when I got home from work, I saw an update from England…

Apparently, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been diagnosed with COVID-19…

The FA is scheduled to release a statement of the future of the English Premier League season. I’m guessing it will be postponed for the foreseeable future…

And there you go. Now we’re living in my nightmare, a world without sports. It’s a very sad day. And it’s going to be a really long month. 😭🚫❀️

UPDATE: The Premier League season has been suspended with the intention of returning on April 4. The League intends to reschedule the postponed matches.

And the NBA season is likely to resume. Games could return in April and possibly go straight into the playoffs, or the league could push the entire calendar back. But my Mavericks will always be 2019/20 NBA Champions to me.

2019/20 NBA Champions!

Tonight, I was watching my Dallas Mavericks play the Denver Nuggets on ESPN. And during the game, the NBA decided to cancel the rest of the NBA season while the Mavs game was still going. The Mavs ended up thumping Nuggets by 16 points.

So since the Mavericks won the final game of the NBA season… THEY’RE YOUR 2019/20 NBA CHAMPIONS!

Luka Doncic dropped 28 in the final game. He was just one rebound short of another double-double. But your final MVP is Boban Marjanovic with 31 points and 17 boards.

And the Mavs rested one of their superstars, Kristaps Porzingis in the championship game… just because they could. Gangsta.
