Constructing Cincinnati.

I’m still not sure what’s going on across the street from work…

😀🚧❤️

Looking up the shaft.

They’re working on the elevator at work this morning…

Have you ever looked up a six-floor elevator shaft before?

Yeah. Me either. Looks like I’m going to be taking the stairs today. It’s a good thing my hips are feeling so much better now. Taken with Instagram. 😀⬆️🆙❤️

Constructing Cincinnati.

When I ride the Metro 17 bus downtown, I get off the bus at the corner of Walnut and Court Street right across from the new downtown Kroger towerWhen it’s completed, it will be 18-stories tall and be home to a two-story supermarket, 139 apartments, and a six-story, 555-space parking garage. And it gets taller with each passing day…

I just don’t know what they’re trying to accomplish across the street from work

😀🚧❤️

Constructing Cincinnati.

No more building. No more debris. There isn’t even a big hole in the ground anymore. 😀🚧❤️

Constructing Cincinnati.

I was curious to see how much progress they would make on the building across the street from work after the long holiday weekend. Since I last looked, it seems like they cleared all the rubble and debris and they’re starting to fill in the void with dirt. I took this photo on Monday morning…

I’m stil not really sure what the plan is for this space. I thought they were going to build ridiculously priced condos here. But recently, I heard that deal fell through. So I don’t know what they plan to do with this piece of prime real estate in downtown Cincinnati. 😀🚧❤️

Constructing Cincinnati.

Earlier in the week, they finished knocking down the building across the street. Since then, they’ve been working to clear all the rubble and debris. I was kind of surprised to see how much progress they’ve made in just a few days…

It’s pretty crazy that a building can just disappear without a trace so quickly. And over on Court Street, the new downtown Kroger tower continues to reach skyward…

When it’s all said and done, this building will be 18-stories tall and be home to a two-story supermarket, 139 apartments and a six-story, 555-space parking garage. It would have been pretty awesome to have a Kroger right around the corner when we used to live downtown. 😀🚧❤️

Constructing Cincinnati.

I could make a whole separate blog just about construction and demolition. It’s been really fascinating to watch. At least it has been for me. But I’m going to combine all the daily photos I took over the last week into this one blog post so our blog doesn’t become that blog all about construction. On Tuesday, I could see the windows of our old apartment at Sycamore Place across the way…

If you used that exit, the first step would be a doozy…

Thursday, November 8th:

Friday, November 9th:

Monday, November 12th:

And I recorded this time-lapse video of the last bit of the demolition…

I also posted a very condensed time-lapse on my Instagram. And all that’s left now is just a massive pile of rubble and debris. It’s weird to not see that building across the street when I leave work…

Tuesday, November 13th:

It was an ugly building anyway. At least it’s out of its misery. 😀🚧❤️

Constructing Cincinnati.

The building across the street continues to get shorter as the demolition continues

It looks like they made quite a bit of progress over the weekend. 😀🚧❤️

Everything is Awesome!

On my way back from Skyline to the office, I passed by this construction work taking place on Sixth Street…

Classic. Awesome indeed. 😀👍❤️

Constructing Cincinnati.

The deconstruction continues

The building’s entire roof has now been demolished by hand and most of the sixth floor is now gone. 😀🚧❤️
