It’s what’s for dinner.

For dinner tonight, Genifer made these amazing lasagna roll-ups

And they were pretty darn delicious! Especially when it’s with garlic bread. I love me some garlic bread. It’s really incredible to be blessed with a beautiful wife who’s also such a terrific cook! 🙂

#GCRWeek16: Prime47.

Tonight, we continued our Greater Cincinnati Restaurant by checking out Prime47 at the corner of Walnut and Sixth Streets downtown. We’ve walked by Prime47 a million times on our way here or there. But we’ve never stopped in. We always thought it would be wicked expensive. Restaurant Week was the perfect chance for us to finally check it out and see what we’ve been missing…

Come to find out that Prime47 has a really tasty-sounding Lounge Menu that seems pretty reasonable. We’ll have to give that a try some other time. Back to the business at hand, Prime47’s Greater Cincinnati Restaurant Week offerings. Three courses for $35 each.  Let’s get this dinner started…

We both started with the Caesar Salad and bread with oil…

I was going to get the 80z. Prmie NY Strip with twice baked potato. But they said they were all out of it. So we both ordered the 6oz. Petite Filet with shallots mashed, julienne vegetables with red wine demi…

Just look at that gorgeous piece of meat…

The steak was the perfect temperature, the demi was amazing, the julienne vegetables were a just little peppery and delicious, and mashed are always the perfect accompaniment for any great steak…

And I would put that steak right there in the running for one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Unbelievably good. Just perfect. For dessert, Genifer ordered the Grippo’s pretzel covered brownie with vanilla ice cream…

Just, wow! I ordered the half-baked chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream…

I really don’t know which dessert was better. They were both so rich and decadent. We would go back just for the desserts alone. And we’re not even huge dessert people. But the best part was that we had a $50 gift certificate that FC Cincinnati sent along as an extra gift with our season tickets

So it was very reasonable for such an incredible meal. Come to find out that the kicker is the exact meal we had tonight is part of Prime47’s Prime Seating Menu, available from 4-6 daily. So we could do this dinner all over again! And we’ll definitely be back to savor this amazing meal again. 🙂

#GCRWeek16: Pompilio’s.

Greater Cincinnati Restaurant Week (#GCRWeek) started today. Restaurant week consists of restaurants offering specially selected 3-course dinner menus with a price point of $35 for one or two guests. We found ourselves across the river over in Newport this evening, and decided to kick-off our Restaurant Week with some amazing Italian cuisine at Pompolio’s

We sat in Colonel Pomp’s Tavern so we could watch some of the Reds game…

ps. They lost. :/

Apparently, I was sitting in the Commish’s Chair…

We wondered if Tom Selleck was going walk into the bar, stop, look at us and give us one of his classic disapproving sighs. We each started with a house salad…

The house Italian dressing was incredible. Genifer ordered the cheese tortellini. And I had the chicken parmigiano…

Really enormous portions…

Chicken parm you taste so good

Incredibly delicious stuff. The leftovers were just as delicious for lunch on Tuesday…

And finally, we shared this gigantic tiramisu for dessert…

Delicious stuff. And all for just $35! It was a great start to our Greater Cincinnati Restaurant Week! 🙂

It’s what’s for dinner.

Genifer made this delicious BBQ orange chicken with broccoli and rice for dinner…

It was really delicious stuff! She’s such a good cook. I can’t wait to dig in to the leftovers. 🙂

Americano Tuesdays.

Did you know on Tuesdays you can order up an Americano Burger for just $5 over at Americano Burger Bar?

We took full advantage of that fact this evening…

And it was delicious! Taken with Instagram.  🍔 🙂

Tickle Pickle.

We found ourselves over in Northside this evening looking at some houses. So afterwards, we stopped in to check out Tickle Pickle

Tickle Pickle specializes in organic grass fed burgers, organic slaw, taters and sides with organic milkshakes and they’re all named after rock bands…

We ordered two Buns ‘n Roses with smashed potatoes and mac ‘n cheese…

And that’s one pretty delicious burger!

Great place! And on our way out, we picked up a couple of milkshakes on the way out.

Oreo Speedwagon and a Flan Halen. Awesome milkshakes!

Delicious stuff! We’ll definitely be stopping in to Tickle Pickle again! Northside is a fun place. 🙂

Nashville Hot.

This afternoon we drove out to Crescent Springs, Kentucky to pay a visit to Nashville Hot. They serve up authentic Nashville-style hot chicken with a custom spice blend and southern-inspired sides. To be honest with you, I’ve never heard of Nashville-style hot chicken until that colonel started trying to shove his KFC Nashville Hot chicken down my throat. :/ Apparently, Nashville Hot opened back at the beginning of February. But I didn’t hear about them until they recently hosted a tap takeover with Braxton Brewing Company. Let’s check it out…

Genifer ordered a house salad and added two boneless chicken tenders. And I ordered the Hot Chicken Sandwich on Texas Toast with a side of baked mac ‘n cheese. Throw in a couple of Braxton Storms, and there’s our lunch…

I had mine with the Southern Heat and Genifer had the Midwest Medium heat. The Southern Heat definitely lived up to its name, but next time I’m going all in on the Nashville Hot. There really wasn’t a good way to eat this sammich. But it was such delicious stuff!

We can’t wait to come back to eat more amazing chicken at Nashville Hot. 🙂

Dinner at Sotto.

We’ve been to Sotto a few times. Drinks here and some shared plates there. But for whatever reason, we’ve never gone to Sotto for a full-blown dinner. Maybe it was that there wasn’t an occasion that felt special enough. Maybe it was we just didn’t know what we were missing. With it being a month to the day since we were married in Jamaica, we finally felt like we had an occasion special enough to have dinner at Sotto. And finally use the gift card my sister, Shannon gave us a little while ago…

We started with the goat cheese & hazelnut honey bruschetta…

We shared a prosciutto arugula salad with parmigiano & lemon oil for the antipasta course. And wouldn’t you know, I completely forgot to take a photo of it. Then moved on to main event, the primi… (from the upper left) short rib cappellacci with shallot, amish butter and thyme, tonnarelli cacio e pepe with black pepper and pecorino, and finally, gnocchi alla romana with bĂ©chamel, sausage ragu & pecorino…

Unbelievable stuff. Luckily, I didn’t have to try to pronounce any of it. I just pointed. My Italian… she’s a not so good. Our favorite dish was the gnocchi and then the short rib cappellacci. The tonnarelli was delicious as well. It’s just that the other two were just, WOW! Everything had such great flavors. For dessert, we ordered the incredible little ricotta doughnuts that everyone raves about. They came with chocolate, pistachio and salted caramel dipping sauces …

Those things lived up to the hype. They were outstanding. The last amazing little donut…

After dinner, we had a drink at the bar…

What an amazing way to celebrate our first mini wedding anniversary. Thank you, Sotto! And thank you Shannon for the Sotto gift card! 🙂

And now for something completely different.

We go over to Americano Burger Bar all the time for burgers. All the time. But tonight, we decided to try something completely different. Well, a little bit different, at least. We decided to try Americano’s Melting-Pot Nachos Supreme…

And those nachos are some really delicious stuff! Viva la Velvita queso, housemade chili, black beans, olives, jalapeños, pico de gallo, sour cream, cilantro, lettuce, and of course, we just had to Rafa’s guac to our nachos! They were definitely big enough to share. But we didn’t stop there. We also had to get some of Americano’s incredible wings with the house rub…

And… some of Americano’s hand-battered, golden and crispy amazing onion rings…

I washed it all down with a Miller High Life draft. Genifer had a sangria…

Delicious stuff, as always. We’ll have to start heading over to Americano on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings…

Americano Burger Bar, not just for amazing burgers any more. 🙂

Happy Pi Day!

Today’s March Fourteenth, 3.14! Happy Pi Day! And today’ s even more special because it’s Pi Rounded Day… 3.14.16! And where else in downtown Cincinnati would we go to celebrate Pi day? Pi Pizzeria, of course!

Today, Pi was running a very irrational promotion… buy one large pizza, get a second pizza of equal or lesser value for just $3.14.

We ordered a deep dish South Side Classico and a thin crust The Hill…

What a delicious way to celebrate Pi Day! And we have leftovers for lunch tomorrow!

Thank goodness for Pi! 🙂
