Covington Yard & Holiday Spirits.

This afternoon we headed out to cross the river over into Kentucky…

On our way, we drove by the new soccer stadium in the West End…

It looks pretty nice. Too bad the team that will be playing in the there is so terrible. We also drove by our old apartment building

And then it was over the river into Kentucky…

And then we were at Covington Yard

Genifer had a sangria slushie…

There are three shipping containers restaurants at Covington Yard: Mr. Bulgogi Korean BBQ, Django Western Taco and Yardbird…

We can get delicious Django tacos whenever we want and Mr. Bulgogi wasn’t open so we shared their delicious chicken sammich and fries from Yardbird…

That chicken sammich was really delicious.

Genifer had a bourbon slush and I had a Mango Cart…

Covington Yard is so fun. On our way back home, we stopped in Over-the-Spirits at Holiday Spirits

We talked about all the trips we’d like to take when the pandemic is over.

And we watched a Black Lives Matter march go by on Liberty Street…

There was the new stadium again…

And we’ve come full circle. We had a really fun afternoon. 😀🐔🍟🍻❤️

#LOVEtheCOV.

This afternoon we went across the Ohio River back into Kentucky over to Covington to finally check out Libby’s Southern Comfort for brunch

We had one of those Cherrywine Bourbon Slushes that we’ve heard so much about…

And they definitely lived up to the hype…

They were delicious. We shared some goetta hushpuppies…

Genifer had a house salad…

I had their oyster po’ boy…

Behind the bar, they had a whole bunch of really old bourbons…

Including one from the year I was born…

I wanted to ask how much a shot of it was, but didn’t get the chance. I can’t imagine that those were cheap. At all. Libby’s was really good. But it was also a bit on the expensive side for brunch. I’m glad we got to try it but I don’t think we’ll be rushing right back until I get a bonus or something.

After we were finished eating, we walked around the corner to Braxton Brewing

Last night was the grand opening of Braxton’s new rooftop patio…

The elevator wasn’t working so we had to take the stairs…

We were getting our steps today, that’s for sure…

Their rooftop patio os beautiful and so big with some great views…

I can’t believe I didn’t take a photo of downtown Cincinnati for up here. But oh well…
what are you going to do? Guess we’ll have to get one next time.

It’s always fun to check out other neighborhoods. We #LOVEtheCOV but we’re sticking with our Northside. 😀🥃🍺❤️

Covington’s Flying Axes.

This afternoon the creative team at Grey Midwest had an outing to go try our hand at some axe throwing over at Flying Axes in Covington

It was a bit daunting at first with axe in hand staring down the bullseye…

But once you figured out the motion and the distance, it was really a lot of fun...

I even managed to splinter my axe…

Who knew that axe throwing would be such a really good time? I think it would be pretty fun to get a group together to join the axe throwing league night…

Please exit through the gift shop…

Afterward, we walked over for a drink at Braxton

And then I caught an Uber home. It was a really fun evening, and I got to know some of my new coworkers a little bit better. 😀🧿🍺❤️

Shining Stars & BDubs.

This morning we went to the grocery store. I don’t ever really get to go the grocery all that much. It was just a pretty normal trip to the store. But look at how cute this space bear was…

Those Shining Stars came home with us. We also noticed these moonshine sausages…

I wonder wat those are like. And there were these completely plant-based sausages that I want to try once it’s time to slow down and grill again

I wonder if they’re good. Speaking of good after the grocery, we stopped at BDubs. It was some of the best BDubs that I’ve had in quite a while. Genifer ordered boneless wings and fries…

We shared some mini corn dogs. I had the crispy BBQ chicken sammich…

And I got a free snack-sized wing for my birthday through their app…

It was really good stuff. 😀🐻🐔❤️

Meanwhile across the river.

This morning we dropped off the rental car we that we used to drive up to Michigan…

It was a pretty nice ride. The check engine came on in our Jetta GLI the day before we were going to drive to Michigan. We didn’t feel super comfortable driving all the way up north with that hanging over our heads so we just rented a car from Budget at CVG to get us there and back…

After we dropped it off, we stopped by Crestview Hills Town Center and decided to have lunch at The Pub

We shared a Scotch Egg…

Genfier had a half chicken salad wrap and a caesar salad…

I had these delicious fish and chip sliders…

We don’t get over to Crestview Hills very often, It’s pretty nice over there, and The Pub has some really good lunch. 😀🇬🇧❤️

Press on Monmouth.

After dropping Oscar off at his groomers in Newport for his haircut, we stopped into Press on Monmouth again for some coffee…

We ordered a couple of coffees and I got another one of their sausage biscuits to go…

We really like Press on Monmouth. 😀☕️❤️

Pause for paws.

We took Oscar over to Newport to get his haircut this morning…

Now he looks all handsome again…

What a good looking guy. 😀🐶❤️

Press on Monmouth.

After dropping off Oscar at his groomers, we stopped at Press on Monmouth over in Newport for some coffee…

We follow Press on Monmouth on Instagram and their stuff always looks so good…

It’s so cute inside…

Genifer got a latte and I got a cold brew coffee on nitro….

Genifer also got a chicken cobb salad for later. I forgot to take a photo of it. But it was huge. I got a sausage biscuit with egg and hot honey…

It was an incredible breakfast sammich that I wish I could eat every morning. I wish we could get over to Press on Monmouth more often. They have delicious stuff. 😀☕️❤️

Pause for paws.

We took Oscar to get his haircut this morning. He was getting pretty fuzzy…

We took him to Wags-n-Whiskers across the river in Newport…

And now he looks all handsome again with his Thanksgiving bandana and all…

Genifer posted this awesome before and after on her Instagram

Oscar’s so handsome. 😀🐶❤️

Mainstrasse Goettafest.

We hopped on the Southbank Shuttle across the Roebling Bridge…

To go check out the 16th Annual MainStrasse Village “Original” Goettafest

Brought to Northern Kentucky by the early German immigrants, Goetta has always been a breakfast staple in the Greater Cincinnati area. Goetta was originally a peasant dish, meant to stretch out servings of meat over several meals to conserve money by adding pin-head oats and spices to ground meat  usually pork, or pork and beef. We’ve hit up the Mainstrasse Goettafest before, and it’s a fun time. But not to be confused with the other Goettafest, Glier’s Goettafest over in Newport where I fell in love with the Goetta ‘n Chedda grilled cheese sammich…

Not Goetta…

Also not Goetta…

Getting closer…

And then, we finally found it…

Goetta ‘n Chedda! The secret is a slice of cheese on each slice of bread with the Goetta in the center…

Genifer snapped this photo of me enjoying my first bite of Goetta ‘n Chedda!
I was so happy! Goetta ‘n Chedda! HOORAY!

Genifer found some of the best beer cheese I’ve ever had in my life…

We were so full of Goetta ‘n Chedda and amazing beer cheese that we didn’t have room for a bucket of delicious little donuts, also known as a Bucket of Heaven…

Or any ice creams at Piper’s Cafe

And when we were done, we just hopped the Shuttle back downtown…

It was a great afternoon full of Goetta and beer cheese deliciousness! 🙂
