Celebrating Genifer’s birthday.

I met Genifer at Higher Gravity again this evening so we could celebrate her birthday. Our friends Cory and Amy met up with us with their sleepy kiddos…

Higher Gravity was doing a fun little tasting tonight. They were having a side by side tasting of Founder’s KBS and CBS. Chef Josh from Django Western Taco was at Higher Gravity pairing the beers with a Cinnamon Toast Crunch French Toast Tacos with Maple Pork Belly as well as Django guac and salsa. The tacos were pretty dang awesome and so were the beers. Both were gone before I even thought about taking a photo. Speaking of awesome, we also all shared a huge Chameleon Pizza

Eventually, word got out that it was Genifer’s birthday, and the guys at Higher Gravity gave her a bottle of Southern Tier’s Monstrosus for her special day…

That was super nice of them…

It was another really fun evening! But we always have a really good time at Higher Gravity. 😀🌮🍕🍻🍾❤️

Brunch at Django Western Taco.

We walked to Django Western Taco for brunch this morning…

We grabbed a seat at the bar next to this guy…

We started with some chips and salsa…

Genifer ordered the Fritos Mac&Cheese…

I ordered the Northside Slam with eggs scrambled, bacon, chipotle roasted tomato, Texas toast and Chef Josh’s famous tater tot casserole…

It was a really delicious brunch. It’s so nice to be able to walk to places again. 😀🌮❤️

Django Western Taco.

I’d been craving a Chicken Biscuit from Django Western Taco since well before my hip surgery. But we didn’t manage to make it to Django before the big day. It was too painful to try to walk there. And we felt silly driving to a place that is literally no more than three blocks away from our house. But today, we finally got some more of the Django deliciousness. This time delivered to us via UberEats. Genifer ordered her Django-style guacamole and a carne asda taco. And there it is Django’s Chicken Biscuit…

And we ordered some Frito Bacon Man N Cheese…

No joke. That’s what it says on the website, Frito Bacon Man N Cheese. You can call it whatever you’d like but I call it delicious. I’m glad we finally got some more goodness from Django Western Taco in our bellies once again. YUM! 😀🌮🇲🇽❤️

Over 1 million.

I got an email from Google this morning. And this email was to inform me that the 600+ photos I’ve posted publicly to Google Maps have now received over 1 milliion views

A million views on just 600 photos is a pretty amazing accomplishment especially when you consider that the 94,500+ photos I’ve uploaded to my Flickr since March 2007 have received just under 8 million views. My three most viewed photos on Google Maps…

Third was taken inside Melt Eclectic Cafe in Northside with over 54,000 views…

Second was inside Northside’s Blue Jay Restaurant with over 60,000 views…

And the bar at Django Western Taco’s old location is my most viewed photo on Google Maps with more than 80,000 views…

Isn’t that nuts? Social media stats like this just kind of blow mind. 😀📷👀❤️

Brunch at Django Western Taco.

This afternoon we walked over to Django Western Taco for brunch…

Genifer ordered one of Django’s amazing Jerk Chicken Quesadillas. We shared some tater tot casserole, chips and salsa and I ordered this amazing dish…

Barbacoa Benedict on a house made jalapeño English muffin, poached eggs, spinach, salsa verde and queso fresco. And it was awesome! But we ordered way too much food. Again. We should have just shared the Barbacoa Benedict. It was such an incredible meal for brunch. 😀🌮❤️

Django Western Taco Tuesday.

This evening we stopped to celebrate Genifer’s new position in GCB’s HR department with a bite to eat at Django Western Taco

Usually, we go with the old stand-bys. Genifer gets salsa, maybe some of their Django-style guacamole and a taco. I always go for the incredible chicken biscuit. But tonight Django threw us a curve ball by adding some new dishes. Like Totachos…

Tots topped with barbacoa pulled pork, queso, barbeque sauce and crema. Awe. Some. And the Chorizo Melt with chorizo, avocado and fried egg on Texas Toast…

Genifer also ordered another of our old favorites, the Jerk Chicken Quesadilla…

Outstanding stuff. Now whenever we go to Django, we’re going to be faced with some really tough decisions. And I’m good with that. 😀🌮❤️

Northside Saturday.

We headed out this afternoon in Northside. We stopped to gawk at the giant maneki-neko lucky cat in the window of Chicken Lays An Egg

And then we continued on to Django Western Taco for lunch…

Genifer ordered a big bowl of chicken tortilla soup with one of Django’s biscuits…

And speaking of biscuits…

THE CHICKEN BISCUIT IS BACK AT DJANGO!!!

And all is right in the world once again. I missed it so much. It’s so tasty. Chef Josh also let us try a taste of another soup he’s working on, a chipotle ham and veggie soup…

From there, we walked down to Second Place

For a nice bourbon slush and some popcorn…

Whoever does the Second Place calendar posters obviously has some fun with them…

And on the way home, we stopped at Higher Gravity for a beer. We walked into a benefit for The Good Boy Foundation that was just winding down with a whole bunch of dog’s in Halloween costumes…

We saw on Higher Gravity’s Untappd menu that they had just tapped a Robe Red Velvet Stout from Streetside Brewery and Holtman’s Donuts and also just tapped a Holtman’s Apple Fritter Cider from March First Brewing

YUM! It was just another fun Saturday afternoon in Northside. 😀⬆️❤️

Northside Wednesday.

After work this evening, we walked through the Northside Farmer’s Market

We stopped at Urban Artifact to try their latest creation called Love Letter Peach Midwest Tart, have another taste of their Anaglyph Banana Midwest Fruit Tart and try their new Spicy Chariot Tart Cherry Gose

Then we stopped a taco at Django Western Taco because it was National Taco Day

And then we headed home…

It was a pretty good Wednesday in Northside! 😀👨‍🌾🍺🌮❤️

IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN! IT’S GREATER CINCINNATI RESTAURANT WEEK!
Our first meal of restaurant week was at the only restaurant participating in Northside, the newly reopened Django Western Taco...

We got to try both of the appetizers…

Ensalada Fresca…

And Grilled Bread…

For the main course, we shared the Blended Steak Burger…

And Charred Eggplant Mushroom Enchiladas…

And we got to try both desserts…

The Chili Chocolate Mousse…

And the Warm Doughnuts…

Everything we had was absolutely delicious! But the salad, burger and mousse were the clear winners for us round by round…

What a wonderful way to start our Greater Cincinnati Restaurant Week! 😀🌮❤️

Django Western Taco.

After a three-month hiatus, Django Western Taco has reopened in their new location just up Hamilton Avenue a couple doors down from Tickle Pickle. They’re so close to us now. We’ve been anxiously waiting for their return, and tonight we were finally rewarded for our patience…

We started with some chips & salsa…

And added some Django-style guacamole…

I ordered a fried chicken taco and Genifer ordered a carne asda taco…

And I had to get a jerk chicken quesadilla…

Such delicious, delicious flavors. Everything was just the way we remember it, if not even better! So good! Speaking of so good, check out Django Western Taco’s menu for the upcoming Greater Cincinnati Restaurant Week…

I know where our first stop is going to be during restaurant week. It sounds delicious.

It’s so good to have Django Western Taco back in the neighborhood and just a hop, skip and a jump from our house. 😀🌮❤️
