Covington Yard & Holiday Spirits.

This afternoon we headed out to cross the river over into Kentucky…

On our way, we drove by the new soccer stadium in the West End…

It looks pretty nice. Too bad the team that will be playing in the there is so terrible. We also drove by our old apartment building

And then it was over the river into Kentucky…

And then we were at Covington Yard

Genifer had a sangria slushie…

There are three shipping containers restaurants at Covington Yard: Mr. Bulgogi Korean BBQ, Django Western Taco and Yardbird…

We can get delicious Django tacos whenever we want and Mr. Bulgogi wasn’t open so we shared their delicious chicken sammich and fries from Yardbird…

That chicken sammich was really delicious.

Genifer had a bourbon slush and I had a Mango Cart…

Covington Yard is so fun. On our way back home, we stopped in Over-the-Spirits at Holiday Spirits

We talked about all the trips we’d like to take when the pandemic is over.

And we watched a Black Lives Matter march go by on Liberty Street…

There was the new stadium again…

And we’ve come full circle. We had a really fun afternoon. 😀🐔🍟🍻❤️

#LOVEtheCOV.

This afternoon we went across the Ohio River back into Kentucky over to Covington to finally check out Libby’s Southern Comfort for brunch

We had one of those Cherrywine Bourbon Slushes that we’ve heard so much about…

And they definitely lived up to the hype…

They were delicious. We shared some goetta hushpuppies…

Genifer had a house salad…

I had their oyster po’ boy…

Behind the bar, they had a whole bunch of really old bourbons…

Including one from the year I was born…

I wanted to ask how much a shot of it was, but didn’t get the chance. I can’t imagine that those were cheap. At all. Libby’s was really good. But it was also a bit on the expensive side for brunch. I’m glad we got to try it but I don’t think we’ll be rushing right back until I get a bonus or something.

After we were finished eating, we walked around the corner to Braxton Brewing

Last night was the grand opening of Braxton’s new rooftop patio…

The elevator wasn’t working so we had to take the stairs…

We were getting our steps today, that’s for sure…

Their rooftop patio os beautiful and so big with some great views…

I can’t believe I didn’t take a photo of downtown Cincinnati for up here. But oh well…
what are you going to do? Guess we’ll have to get one next time.

It’s always fun to check out other neighborhoods. We #LOVEtheCOV but we’re sticking with our Northside. 😀🥃🍺❤️

The Deskey holiday party.

Tonight was Deskey’s holiday party at The Frock in Covington…

After the party, we stopped at Braxton Brewing Company for a beer. It was a great night celebrating the holidays with some really great people. 🙂

Mainstrasse Goettafest.

We hopped on the Southbank Shuttle across the Roebling Bridge…

To go check out the 16th Annual MainStrasse Village “Original” Goettafest

Brought to Northern Kentucky by the early German immigrants, Goetta has always been a breakfast staple in the Greater Cincinnati area. Goetta was originally a peasant dish, meant to stretch out servings of meat over several meals to conserve money by adding pin-head oats and spices to ground meat  usually pork, or pork and beef. We’ve hit up the Mainstrasse Goettafest before, and it’s a fun time. But not to be confused with the other Goettafest, Glier’s Goettafest over in Newport where I fell in love with the Goetta ‘n Chedda grilled cheese sammich…

Not Goetta…

Also not Goetta…

Getting closer…

And then, we finally found it…

Goetta ‘n Chedda! The secret is a slice of cheese on each slice of bread with the Goetta in the center…

Genifer snapped this photo of me enjoying my first bite of Goetta ‘n Chedda!
I was so happy! Goetta ‘n Chedda! HOORAY!

Genifer found some of the best beer cheese I’ve ever had in my life…

We were so full of Goetta ‘n Chedda and amazing beer cheese that we didn’t have room for a bucket of delicious little donuts, also known as a Bucket of Heaven…

Or any ice creams at Piper’s Cafe

And when we were done, we just hopped the Shuttle back downtown…

It was a great afternoon full of Goetta and beer cheese deliciousness! 🙂

Braxton Brewing Co.

After Genifer got home from work, we ventured over across the river to Covington…

To finally check out Braxton Brewing Company

I was tinkering with the idea of coming over yesterday to check it out. Braxton was having a Block Party. But I thought it would be way more fun to wait and check out Braxton for the first time with Genifer.

We got a taster flight with Storm Golden Cream Ale, Dead Blow Tropical Stout, Dead Blow brewed with Starter Coffee and Level Saison

The Dead Blow with Starter Coffee was out of this world. Was it beer? Was it coffee? There’s no need to decide. It was just pure amazing.

After the taster, I got a Storm and Genifer got a Dead Blow on nitro…

We followed that up with two of the Dead Blows brewed with Starter Coffee. Outstanding.

Google Maps has an awesome 360º interactive view of the interior of the Braxton taproom

We hung out and watched the Pats eek out the one-point win over the Giants.

Great beers. Awesome place. We’ll definitely be back! 🙂

Wedding details.

Genifer found her wedding dress today at Donna Salyers’ Fabulous Bridal in Covington

We’re so excited to be getting married in February. 🙂
