This identity concept was designed for a nonprofit program called Queens Village. . Queens Village is a supportive community of powerful Black women who come together to relax, re-power, and take care of ourselves & each other. . This mark draws heavily on the African Mako Adinkra symbol meaning inequality, unequal resources and uneven development. The Mako Adinkra translates literally to “All peppers do not ripen simultaneously.” The wisdom that not every one develops at the same rate and not every one is presented with the same opportunities in life. . With the Mako Adinkra as it’s focus, this concept is about the community coming together to share any and all resources that are available. With the goal being that all peppers will eventually get the opportunity to ripen.
