Cyclones hockey game #5.

Tonight, we walked down to US Bank Arena to see our Cyclones take on the Fort Wayne Komets on the biggest bar night of the year. It’s our fifth hockey game of the season

US Bank Arena was packed tonight. It seems like every college kid in Cincinnati was at US Bank Arena. I wish I could say that everyone was there for the game…

Because it seemed like everyone was just in line for $1 beers. And once they got their beers, it seemed like they just got back in line. It made for ridiculously long lines everywhere in US Bank Arena not just for the dollar beers. We don’t remember it being that bad last year. Nowhere even close. But eventually, we did finally manage to get a couple of beers…

We ended up ducking out during the second intermission. When this game rolls around next season, I think this is one we’ll probably skip. We went to this game last year, and it wasn’t nearly as annoying. US Bank Arena was nutty and the concession lines were way out of control. And the Cyclones ended up losing 3-2 in overtime. :/

#TBT Pause for paws.

Milan used to love going to Fido Field…

He’d climb up the big hill…

To get up to the fenceline that ran along Gilbert Avenue…

And he’d wait patiently…

Waiting for cars to come around the bend…

And then race them down Gilbert Avenue…

He loved running and loved racing cars…

I really miss that bud dog. A lot. 🙂

Goodnight Moon.

When I was walking home from work, I couldn’t help but notice the big, bright moon hovering just above our building…

When we were walking Oscar, the moon was just as bright, if not brighter than the streetlights…

It looked like more like a moon you’d see around Halloween instead of a moon you’d see just a few days before Thanksgiving…

A lazy Sunday.

When Genifer got home from work, we went across the river to grab a bite to eat at Buckhead Mountain Grill. I love the view of downtown Cincinnati from Bellevue, Kentucky. Especially at dusk…

We got home in time to watch the first leg of the Crew’s MLS playoff semi-final versus Red Bulls. And the Crew won 2-0! The match included the Crew scoring the fastest goal in MLS playoff history, just 9 seconds into the match. Genifer picked up a little growler of DuClaw Brewing‘s Sweet Baby Jesus Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter from Flipdaddy’s

Delicious, delicious stuff! Taken with Instagram. 🙂

Oscar from Friday night…

And enjoying a little patch of sun on a chilly Sunday…

🙂

Seen & noted.

Check out the pretty Christmas tree in the foyer of Skyline on Fourth Street…

By the way, it was Skyline time for lunch! YUM! 🙂

Igby’s three-year anniversary party.

Tonight, Igby’s was celebrating their three-year anniversary. We stopped by for the last bit of happy hour this evening…

For the last three years, Igby’s has always been one of our favorite places to grab a drink…

We actually headed out just before the party was about get started…

Happy third-year anniversary, Igby’s! Here’s to many, many more boozy years to come! 🙂

Our Reds All-Star Legacy brick.

The Reds All-Star Legacy brick that Josh, Jeannette, Violette and Edgerton ordered for us as an engagement present arrived in the mail today…

We love it! We can’t wait to find our brick down at Great American Ball Park next season! Thanks JJVE! 🙂

It was pretty rainy afternoon in downtown Cincinnati…

And a pretty grey and overcast, melancholy evening…

But later, there were some pretty spectacular night clouds…

Frisch’s Pumpkin Pie.

A treasured seasonal treat is back: Frisch’s pumpkin pie!

Frisch’s Big Boy has been baking pumpkin pie from the same closely guarded secret recipe and the best-available, highest-quality ingredients for over 50 years. Famous for the flaky, handmade pastry crust, creamy pumpkin filling and the perfect balance of special spices, Frisch’s pumpkin pie is a dessert worthy of even the most deserving individuals.

We were invited to tour the Frisch’s Big Boy bakery in Cincinnati to see how they bake their pies fresh, each day. But the scheduling didn’t work out. And unfortunately, we missed out on a great opportunity to see where all that deliciousness is made. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I had to pick up a Frisch’s pumpkin pie just for the two of us so we wouldn’t have to share…

Look at that pumpkin pie gorgeousness…

And that is what pure pumpkin pie heaven looks like. It’s still easily some of the best pumpkin pie I’ve had ever had. Thanks to Frisch’s Big Boy and the Powers Agency for hooking us up with one of their delicious pumpkin pies. You should definitely pick up a couple, three pies for your Thanksgiving celebrations. You’ll be thankful you did. YUM! 🙂
