Reds baseball game #15.

The last weekend of the Reds baseball season. We wanted to get in one more ballgame to make it 15 trips to Great American Ball Park for us this season. We were hanging out at Washington Park for the Pokopolis Pig & Whiskey festival before the game…

Then we walked across Race Street so Genifer could ride the streetcar CB Connector for the first time…

Here it comes…

Apparently, everyone downtown had the exact same idea as us. The Connector was stupid packed…

But we eventually made it to The Banks. We’re pretty sure we could have walked there quicker.

The Reds were playing the Cubs for this final series of the regular season. It was cool to get to see the Cubbies before they embark on their postseason run…

John Lester was on the hill for the Cubs…

Joey Votto’s had an extraordinary second half of the season

It’s ridiculous how good he’s been this year after a slow start. Bases were full of Reds…

Eugenio Suarez went yard

Plenty of seats were still available…

So not surprisingly, we were able to find that Chick-fil-a cow…

And Rosie Red…

Last ball park snacks of the season…

Now the bases were chuck full of Cubbies…

BARGE!

The Cubs brought in Aroldis Chapman to pitch the eighth inning…

With two outs in the eighth, it was Aroldis Chapman versus Joey Votto…

Raisel Iglesias came in to try to shut the door on the Cubs…

And this one belongs to the Reds!

It was a long, tough season for the Reds. But the second half showed a lot of promise and potential for what could be next season. I just know now that for the next couple of weeks I’ll look at the clock see that it’s around 7pm, go to turn on the Reds game and have to remind myself that the season’s over. There isn’t any more Reds baseball until next Spring. And for me, that’s always the hardest part. It’s not the fact that they didn’t do well this year. It’s the fact that their season is over, and I have to wait all winter until I can get to watch my Reds play baseball again. 🙂

Reds baseball game #14.

We went to the second to last Reds Sunday church baseball game of the season…

It was our fourteenth Reds game of the season…

The Pirates Jason Jaso came in to pinch hit…

We saw this guy in the boxes below us, and thought Mat Latos was back in the house…

Time for the Sunday live edition of the Reds mascot race…

Gapper just edged out Fritz the Oktoberfest Zinzinnati mascot…

The Pirates were down to their last strike…

And this one belongs to the Reds!

It’s always great to be back at the ballpark. With a doubt, GABP is one of my favorite places to be in all of Cincinnati. 🙂

Reds baseball game #13.

Tonight, we made it back down to Great American Ball Park for Reds baseball game #13 of the season…

The Reds had won five in a row coming into tonight’s game. But tonight, they lost 7-0 to the Brewers tonight. It was still great to be back at the ballpark…

Remember when Cueto was on our team? Memories…

Click to see all the photos I took at Reds baseball game #13 of the season. 🙂

Reds baseball game #12.

It felt like forever since we’d last been to a Reds game. It had been over a month since we were last at the ballpark. I don’t think we went a month without going to a baseball game in all the time we lived downtown. Heck, I don’t think we went a week without taking in a Reds game. But with all the FC|C soccer and our move, things happen and times change. Tonight, we hopped on the Metro 17 bus (god bless that 17 bus) and made our way down to Great American BallPark. Taking the bus in was super easy and much cheaper than an Uber and definitely way cheaper than paying for parking. We got off the 17 at Government Square on Fifth Street, and walked down Main Street to GABP. We had almost the same distance to walk to the ballpark as when we lived on Sycamore Street. It felt a little odd and weird to walk down a different street after so many trips down Sycamore Street to see the Reds. But there we were at Reds game number 12. The journey might be a little different now but it’s still the same beautiful ballpark we know and love…

The Reds were playing those whiny birds…

We had tickets for the Cincinnati Bell Fioptics District again. We really like those seats. It was pretty empty on the way to the district.

And not surprisingly, they were plenty of good seats still available…

The Reds were down to their last strike…

And this one did not belong to the Reds, 5-4 to the Cardinals…

The Reds took two out of three from St. Louis. Since the All-Star break, they’ve won six straight series. And win or lose, it’s always great to be at the ballpark. We ended up riding the Metro 17 home. And that was a bit of an experience just because the bus was surprisingly packed. We had to stand the entire trip home. Next time, we go to an evening Reds game, we’ll most likely just catch an Uber home. 🙂

Reds baseball game #11.

We went to our 11th Reds game of the season so far, and they were playing the Cubbies. It would be our very last Reds game as downtown residents…

It was a beautiful night for baseball…

Kris Bryant went yard with a solo shot…

And then he hit another one…

This time it was a three-run shot. Jumbo Diaz was just recalled from AAA Louisville today…

And Jake Arrieta hit an opposite field home run…

Joey Votto got in on the act with the first of his two home runs…

Kris Bryant added his third home run of the night…

And Rizzo got in on the act and added a dinger…

We packed it in early so we could go home and pack up some more of our stuff…

The Reds would go on to lose 11-8. Kris Bryant put on a clinic going 5-5 with 3 home runs and 2 doubles. It was a pretty memorable night! 🙂

Reds baseball game #10.

Our final Sunday Reds game where we could just walk down the street to GABP…

Today, the Reds were retiring Pete’s Rose’s iconic #14…

And this one belongs to the Reds!

🙂

Reds baseball game #9.

Tonight, we walked down to GABP to watch our Reds take on those whiny bird Cardinals from St. Louis…

Because one our favorite ex-Reds pitchers was on the hill tonight, Mike Leake!

BARGE!

These guy were either giving the $1 hot dog stand a work-out, or doing the All-You-Can-Eat-Seats the right way…

Adam Duvall hit a dinger for the Reds…

The Cardinals tied the game at 6 in the top of the ninth…

In the bottom of ninth, Joey Votto hit a walk-off home run for the Reds win! Walk-off, Mr. Votto! Walk-off!

The Reds game are always fun, especially when they win! 🙂

Reds baseball game #7.

We went down to the ballpark to take in our seventh Reds game of the season. And it was a perfect afternoon for baseball. Just perfect. And the DirecTV Blimp was hovering high above Cincinnati again

It was the final game of the series between the Reds and the Seattle Mariners. So why wouldn’t there be a big pail of glow-in-the-dark light sabers and T-Rex dinosaur swords outside of GABP for a day game? And no. I did not buy one. I didn’t have any cash.

The DirecTV Blimp was overhead almost the entire game…

I remember when my parents used to take us to Cubs games, one of the free giveaways we got more than once were Cubs painter hats. I hadn’t thought about or seen a baseball painter hat in years. I wonder if our Cubs hats are still at my parents house in Michigan?

The Mariner’s Robinson Cano…

And he ended up on third…

Votto might be struggling right now. But I still get a tingle when he steps to the plate…

The Sunday live Reds mascot race…

This one belongs to Mr. Redlegs. He owned today’s race…

The Reds dropped another one. And ended up getting swept by the Mariners. :/

Oh well. It was a gorgeous day for a baseball game. And we got to see The Gies

Sundays like this are made for watching baseball, win or lose. 🙂

Reds baseball game #6.

Tonight, Genifer and I went to see our sixth game of this Reds season. They were playing the Cleveland Indians in the final game of the battle for the Ohio Cup. The Reds got destroyed the first two games up in Cleveland, getting outscored 28-7.  And they lost last night 8-7 in 12 innings. We were thinking that we’d just skip this series and go to the game on Sunday against the Mariners until Allison called to see if we’d like to use her family’s season tickets. And we jumped at the opportunity to sit in the second row, directly behind the Indians dugout. It’s been a while since we’ve sat in those seats. And both times were to see the Cubbies play

Tim Adleman had to leave the game early…

Joey Votto went yard…

There was a really big, almost full moon tonight…

The Reds ended getting swept by the Indians in the four-game Battle for the Ohio Cup…

Win or lose. It’s always fun to go hang out at the ballpark. Especially in those seats!

Thanks again, Allison! 🙂

Reds baseball game #5.

On a whim, we went to our fifth Reds game of the season tonight…

The Reds were playing the Pirates again…

There were a couple of plays that went under review…

This play at second ended up in the Pirates manager, Clint Hurdle and Starling Marte both getting tossed out of the game…

Our friends Scott and Cathy were at tonight’s game as well…

Bryan Price wasn’t happy about Oldendorf getting tossed after the Reds pitchers combined to plunk four Pirate batters…

The Reds led most of the game that featured five home runs (one by Jay Bruce), six hit batters and four ejections. But trailed 5-4 going into the ninth. Joey Votto came on to work some magic for the Reds and reached base on a walk…

But there wouldn’t be any late game heroics tonight for the Reds. And the game would go on to finish 5-4 Pirates

It was fun to get in another Reds game before they head out for a five-game road trip. 🙂
