God save the Queen.
In celebration of Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday today, Stylight created a fun puzzle that challenges you to spot the monarch amongst numerous corgis…
This quiz was inspired by Hungarian artist Dudolf’s original ‘Find the Panda’ puzzle that went viral at the end of last year. How long did it take you to find The Queen? 🙂

Cyclones hockey game #16: playoff edition.
CYCLONES PLAYOFF HOCKEY! :The quest for the Kelly Cup. Tonight was game 3 of the first round, best-of-seven series against the Fort Wayne Komets. The ‘Clones won the first two games of the series in Fort Wayne. The Cyclones could close out the series by taking two out of the three games at US Bank Arena between tonight and the two games this weekend…
Paul McCartney is coming to US Bank Arena in July…
Tickets are too rich for our blood. At least, we got to see him at GABP. Back to hockey…
A minute into the game, and the Cyclones were already trailing 1-0…
And at the end of the first period, the ‘Clones were down 3-0…
At the end of the second period, the Cyclones were getting thumped 7-0…
Yep. It’s not a mistake. Your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you…
In the third, the highlight was one of the plexiglass panels came loose…
And the game ended, 8-0. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a Cyclones game where they lost that bad.
Hopefully, they’ll be able to bounce back and take the series this weekend.
UPDATE: The Cyclones lost game 7 of the series 2-0 to Fort Wayne to end their season. 😦

#GCRWeek16: Prime47.
Tonight, we continued our Greater Cincinnati Restaurant by checking out Prime47 at the corner of Walnut and Sixth Streets downtown. We’ve walked by Prime47 a million times on our way here or there. But we’ve never stopped in. We always thought it would be wicked expensive. Restaurant Week was the perfect chance for us to finally check it out and see what we’ve been missing…
Come to find out that Prime47 has a really tasty-sounding Lounge Menu that seems pretty reasonable. We’ll have to give that a try some other time. Back to the business at hand, Prime47’s Greater Cincinnati Restaurant Week offerings. Three courses for $35 each. Let’s get this dinner started…
We both started with the Caesar Salad and bread with oil…
I was going to get the 80z. Prmie NY Strip with twice baked potato. But they said they were all out of it. So we both ordered the 6oz. Petite Filet with shallots mashed, julienne vegetables with red wine demi…
Just look at that gorgeous piece of meat…
The steak was the perfect temperature, the demi was amazing, the julienne vegetables were a just little peppery and delicious, and mashed are always the perfect accompaniment for any great steak…
And I would put that steak right there in the running for one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Unbelievably good. Just perfect. For dessert, Genifer ordered the Grippo’s pretzel covered brownie with vanilla ice cream…
Just, wow! I ordered the half-baked chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream…
I really don’t know which dessert was better. They were both so rich and decadent. We would go back just for the desserts alone. And we’re not even huge dessert people. But the best part was that we had a $50 gift certificate that FC Cincinnati sent along as an extra gift with our season tickets…
So it was very reasonable for such an incredible meal. Come to find out that the kicker is the exact meal we had tonight is part of Prime47’s Prime Seating Menu, available from 4-6 daily. So we could do this dinner all over again! And we’ll definitely be back to savor this amazing meal again. 🙂

#GCRWeek16: Pompilio’s.
Greater Cincinnati Restaurant Week (#GCRWeek) started today. Restaurant week consists of restaurants offering specially selected 3-course dinner menus with a price point of $35 for one or two guests. We found ourselves across the river over in Newport this evening, and decided to kick-off our Restaurant Week with some amazing Italian cuisine at Pompolio’s…
We sat in Colonel Pomp’s Tavern so we could watch some of the Reds game…
ps. They lost.
Apparently, I was sitting in the Commish’s Chair…
We wondered if Tom Selleck was going walk into the bar, stop, look at us and give us one of his classic disapproving sighs. We each started with a house salad…
The house Italian dressing was incredible. Genifer ordered the cheese tortellini. And I had the chicken parmigiano…
Really enormous portions…
Chicken parm you taste so good…
Incredibly delicious stuff. The leftovers were just as delicious for lunch on Tuesday…
And finally, we shared this gigantic tiramisu for dessert…
Delicious stuff. And all for just $35! It was a great start to our Greater Cincinnati Restaurant Week! 🙂

Another lazy Sunday.
We just hung out around this morning. This afternoon we went over to enjoy our first grill out of the season with Randy and Allison on the Westside. And then we walked through a house we’ve been eyeballing over in Northside. But other than that, it was a pretty low-key Sunday. Lazy Sundays are the best. Taken with Instagram. 🙂

FC Cincinnati versus Louisville City.
We grabbed an Uber and headed up to UC early again to have a couple of pre-game happy hour beers at The St. Clair. What a difference a week makes with the weather. The area was absolutely buzzing with activity in a sea of blue and orange…
After a couple of beers, we made the short walk over to Nippert Stadium…

FC Cincinnati was playing host to Louisville City FC in what has been dubbed the River Cities Cup. But a lot of the fans have started calling it The Dirty River Derby, which I really like a whole better. With Louisville being just a hop-ship-and-a-jump down I-71, it makes sense that a rivalry has already started to form.
GOAL FC|C! 1-0!
Louisville City was awarded what I thought was a pretty cheap penalty when the ball bounced up and brushed an FC|C defender’s hand in the box…
1-1.
And it all kind of went downhill from there pretty quickly…
Louisville City were reduced to 10 men just before the end of the half on a second bookable offense…
It was just a gorgeous night for football…
And there was such an incredible atmosphere at tonight’s match. Nippert was rocking all evening despite FC|C playing from behind for most of the match…
FC Cincinnati managed to pull a goal back in just before the 90th minute. We headed out just before the end of injury time. And the match ended 3-2 to Louisville City…
But FC Cincinnati set a new USL regular season attendance record at tonight’s match!! I think that Cincinnati is definitely embracing their new sports team!
FC Cincinnati’s next home match is against Wilmington on April 30th, which happens to be the five-year anniversary of our very first date. See you at Nippert! 🙂

It’s Skyline Time!
A big thanks goes out to Skyline Chili for choosing me as one of their Third Place winners in their Skyline Chili Home Plate Sweepstakes 2016! I won this really sweet Skyline Reds ball cap and a $25 Skyline gift card!
Thanks again, Skyline! I definitely see some Skyline Time in our near future! 🙂

It’s what’s for dinner.
Genifer made this delicious BBQ orange chicken with broccoli and rice for dinner…
It was really delicious stuff! She’s such a good cook. I can’t wait to dig in to the leftovers. 🙂

#SaveTheDennison.
Could you imagine walking up Main Street and not seeing The Dennison Hotel? The view just wouldn’t be the same without this historic building…
The building’s owners are working to get Historic Conservation Board approval for the demolition of the historic Dennison Hotel.
From UrbanCincy, “Built in 1890, the Dennison Hotel is located within the Main Street Historic District and has sat vacant for several years. In the past, the eight-story brick structure had served as a single-occupancy room hotel in what was at that time a seedy part of the central business district.
Over the past several months historic preservationists have been organizing themselves in an effort to track the status of this historic structure as rumors have swirled that the owners were interested in demolition.”
It would be a real shame to lose a historic building that’s such an iconic part of the landscape of downtown Cincinnati. Well, at least it is for us. It’s been part of of view every time we looked out the windows…
Or walked out our front door…
And I would hate to loose a couple of my favorite ghost signs in all of Cincinnati…
