Taken with Instagram.

We spent most of the day packing and getting ready for our trip. 🙂

Good morning from Northside.

It was a pretty start to the end of the week. 🙂

Mian Street is losing an icon.

It’s hard to imagine what Main Street would look like without the Dennison Hotel. 😦

Cyclones hockey game #9.

It was a gorgeous evening in Cincinnati…

For Cyclones hockey game #9 of the season

We got there early enough to see the pregame warm-ups…

Because we wanted to get our free Cyclones coffee tumbler from Dunkin Donuts…

And we finally got the Cyclones bottomless tub of popcorn…

LET’S PLAY HOCKEY!

We got to see a team we’ve never seen before, Wichita Thunder. And the Thunder scored just 36 seconds into the game. It was kind of a shocker, and it took us a minute to figure out just what the heck happened…

At the end of the first period, it was all tied at one…

And the Thunder scored just 12 seconds into the second period…

And at the end of the second, the game was getting from the Cyclones at 3-1…

But at least our photo made the scoreboard again…

The Cyclones lost 5-1. Hopefully, the Cyclones will do better next time. But at least we got to eat a bunch of popcorn and we got our coffee tumblers! 🙂

It’s what’s for dinner.

Genifer made this ranch chicken breaded in Ritz Crackers

And she made mashed potatoes with broccoli mac & cheese…

And it was delicious! She’s such a good cook. 🙂

Lalo Chino Latino.

In the old location of Huit Asian BBQ on Court Street is Lalo Chino Latino. Lalo is the sister restaurant of the Huit Group’s other restaurant on Main Street, Neuf. I stopped into Lalo this afternoon to check it out…

The item that intrigued me the most was an Asian BBQ Quesadilla…

And it was incredible! I also tried the Chicken Curry Empanadas…

House-made pastry stuffed with curried chicken Served with warm curry dip! Really delicious stuff! I can’t wait to go back to try their Chorizo Potstickers. I’d be really hard pressed to try to decide which place I like better, Neuf or Lola. Both are awesome! 🙂

Seen and noted.

Walking back down Court Street, I stumbled across one of the most amazing Artworks murals I’ve seen yet. It’s a mural paying homage to Cincinnati’s rich toy history

Cincinnati Toy Heritage celebrates “the legacy of Kenner Toys, a Cincinnati-based toy company founded in 1947, in this work of art which showcases some of the most popular toys that were designed by the company.” Artworks has done some amzing, incredible murals. It’s just really a shame I have to look at this one all day at work. :/

And on my way back to work, I noticed this crude little drawling on the side of one of the buildings on Walnut Street…

It’s nowhere near as elaborate as the Artworks mural but every bit as entertaining. 🙂

Minges Candy Store.

This afternoon I walked up to Court Street with some coworkers to visit Cincinnati’s oldest candy store, Peter Minges & Son ConfectionaryI’ve walked by Minges Candy Store more than a few times. But I’ve never been inside until today…

It’s a pretty amazing place. They have every candy you could think of. Unfortunately, you can only by most of the candy in bulk. So if you need a box of 36 Kit Kat’s, this is your place. And they also had this amazing old skool, freestanding popcorn maker for sale…

Next time I find myself needing a 5 lb bag of Swedish Fish, I know where to go. 🙂

A really foggy Monday morning.

It was really foggy on this Monday morning…

And it was really foggy downtown too…

🙂

Cyclones hockey game #8.

This afternoon we went down to US Bank Arena for the rare Cyclones Sunday kids matinee hockey game. This was our eighth Cyclones hockey game of the season

When we got inside, we found the upper bowl of US Bank Arena was open. And that’s sweet! Because we had a whole section to ourselves!

LET’S PLAY HOCKEY!

And then they made us move to the lower bowl. :/

At the end of the first period, the Cyclones were up 1-0 on the Fort Wayne Komets…

Halfway through the second period, the ‘Clones were up 4-0…

And at the end of the second, it was 4-2 Cyclones…

Daniel Tiger was at the game this afternoon…

4-3…

And there it is…

And once again, our photo made the scoreboard…

The Cyclones blew a 4-0 lead halfway through the second period to force overtime with Komets. Thankfully, they were able to cling to the tie throughout the extra hockey. The game went to shoot-outs and somehow the Cyclones finally prevailed 5-4. 🙂
