Downtown details.

It was a really pretty afternoon in downtown Cincinnati. It was a little bit windy but the temperature was pretty nice for the beginning of December. So I ran out to get something to eat this afternoon. I walked over to The Banks. Along the way, I stopped to admire The Skystar Wheel with the Roebling Suspension Bridge in the background…

It’s become a permanent addition to The Banks. We still need to go ride on it. I bet the views are pretty spectacular. I ended up getting this sammich from Burgerfi

It was okay. I also stopped to admire the Rose Lavelle mural on West Freedom Way…

And when I was leaving work, Paul Bown Stadium was all lit up for some reason…

I love all the unique sights in downtown Cincinnati. 😀❤️

A quick run around downtown.

I ran some errands around downtown Cincinnati this afternoon. At the beginning of every baseball season, I let myself buy a new Reds sweatshirt and a new reds polo shirt.  I’ve been looking for a Reds quart-zip fleece forever. But I’ve never really been able to find exactly what I’ve been looking for. I bought a grey Reds quarter-zip online. But when it showed up in the mail, I really didn’t like it. It just seemed really cheap. But yet, the price tag wasn’t really cheap at all. So I dropped it off at the UPS Store by Fountain Square to send it back for a refund. From there, I headed down Fourth Street to Kock’s Sporting Goods to see if they had a Reds hoodie that I’ve been eyeballing for last three or four seasons now. They had it in stock, and it was $30 less than I’ve seen it anywhere else but they only it in a small. I stopped to admire the view of an empty lot where a rather large parking garage used to stand at the corner of Fourth and Race Streets…

I continued back down Fourth Street and noticed the new Sleepy Bee on Fourth…

I’ve heard nothing but good things about Sleepy Bee. Someday, I’ll have to give it a try. From there, I walked down to GABP…

I got us some Reds tickets for the seven-year anniversary of our first date on Monday…

The Reds team shop had the sweatshirt I’ve been eyeballing…

But it’s a Nike hoodie and it’s $120 in the team shop. And that’s just stupid. They also only had it in a medium. When I tried the medium on, it was a bit snug. I like my hoodies kind of baggy. Thankfully, they didn’t have a large. And I wasn’t tempting into paying way too much for a ridiculously overpriced sweatshirt to rep the worst team in baseball. Instead, I  ordered this Reds hoodie from Homage online while standing in the Reds team shop. And it was half the price of the Nike hoodie. And it was on sale. Coming out of the team shop, I noticed a new taco shop in the new AC Hotel in The Banks, Condado

All those people waiting outside for a table. It’s kind of silly. Inside looked cool though…

I made my way down the street to BurgerFi

I grabbed a burger and then I walked back to work. It was a nice little lunchtime run around downtown. And there’s always something new in downtown Cincinnati. 😀🏙️❤️

I rode the Streetcar.

This afternoon I rode the Streetcar Cincinnati Bell Connector

I got my $1 two-hour CB Connector pass…

And made sure to get it validated…

After waiting for a few minutes, the Connector rolled up to the Aronoff Center Station…

Next stop, Cincinnati Cyclones Station in The Banks…

From there, I walked around the corner to Great Amercian Ball Park…

I got to check out the new Pete Rose statue out in front of GABP…

I got us two tickets to Sunday’s Reds versus Cubs game…

After getting us tickets, I walked down East Freedom Way to get lunch from Burgerfi

I walked back to Cincinnati Cyclones Station in The Banks to wait for the Connector…

Seventeen minutes later…

And back to work…

Mmmmm, Burgerfi…

It was a fun little jaunt around downtown to break up the afternoon. But I’m pretty sure if I just walked down to The Banks and back, it would have been a WHOLE LOT faster. The CB Connector is neat and all, but if you’re trying to get someplace quickly or on a schedule, you should probably explore other options… or just walk. 😀

An afternoon in The Banks.

Back when we were in the Dominican Republic, we had tickets to a Cyclones hockey game that we obviously couldn’t use. We swapped those tickets for tonight’s Cyclones regular season home finale. We decided to make an afternoon of it and rode our beloved 17 bus into downtown to have a little fun before the hockey game…

We walked down to The Banks to check out some of the new places that have opened…

We went to check out latest new downtown burger joint called Burgerfi

We streamed the FC Cincinnati match away to Pittsburgh while we were waiting for our order to be ready. We each ordered a Burgerfi Cheeseburger and shared a Cry+Fry…

Look at the size of those gorgeous onion rings…

They’re practically the same size as the burgers…

Those are some pretty awesome burgers!

Burgerfi really kinda reminded me a lot of In-N-Out Burger with their really, REALLY awesome burgers. I can see taking many walks down to The Banks for a burger for lunch during the work week. Really great stuff! After we were all done with our burgers, we went two doors down to check out the latest bar from 4EG called The Stretch

The Stretch has cocktails on tap…

But they had Urban Artifact‘s Sliderule on tap. So we had a couple while we watched the first half of the South Carolina-Gonzaga game. And we streamed the second half of the FC Cincy match. They notched their first win of the season 1-0 over Pittsburgh.  Hopefully, the Reds can get their first win in a couple days as well…

These are a couple of really fun new places in The Banks. We wished we could have paid a visit to the new Pies & Pints in The Banks as well. Next time. It was a really fun pregame afternoon that we look forward to repeating next hockey season. 🙂
