#JJVECincy2021 Saturday.

Hello from Northside…

The clouds were looking a bit on the dark side this morning…

Good morning from Northside…

This morning Oscar was given the nickname Captain Oskey. And Mack was dubbed Cowboy Mac ‘n Cheese. Mostly because the kids thought Mack’s spots make him look like a little cow.

We headed out to start our big fun Saturday with JJVE. We had to duck under some awnings for cover from rain showers twice once we were on our way. And then the sun was out…

We walked to Bonomini Bakery to get donuts for breakfast…

Food & Wine recently named Bonomini The Best Doughnut in Ohio

We ate our donuts over at Hoffner Park…

But we were still hungry so we had lunch at Taqueria 251

Their esquite is pretty incredible…

And their chilaquiles rojos were really good…

After lunch, we walked over to Urban Artifact

When we got home, all of us took the dogs around the block…

We stopped at the playgrounds up at the school on the top of the hill…

Good evening from Northside…

We played some hybrid soccer in our backyard, made a bunch of drawlings and had an NYPD Pizza party…

We discovered Rollino Lattes…

And we played a bunch of Uno…

It was a big day. The kids wore Mack out…

We had the most amazing Saturday. It was the best day. 😀🌄🏡😍🥰❤️

Taqueria 251.

A new taco shop just opened up in Northside called Taqueria 251. And this afternoon we walked down Hamilton Avenue to check it out the new place in the neighborhood…

I’m digging their murals…

Taqueria 251 was still waiting for their liquor license…

We sat out on their very spacious patio…

We started with some chips and salsa…

The trio of salsas came in these half-full little squeeze bottles…

We thought it was kind of an odd presentation. Especially in the middle of a pandemic. But the salsas were all pretty good. The green was the mild and the one on the right was really spicy. The middle one was my favorite. But they all had really good flavors.

We ordered the Esquite as an appetizer. The Esquite is sweet corn cut off the cob brought to the table in a cup served with a side of spicy mayo, cotija cheese, Mexican cream, tajin and lime. And it’s all mixed right at the table…

And as soon as our Esquite was prepared, our tacos arrived…

We ordered the Al Pastor, Papa and Chicharron…

We also ordered the Gringa with the cheese crust…

The tacos were just okay. They were really just meat on a tortilla. The meats were really flavorful but a little dry. The Gringa was good. I enjoyed the cheese crust. The Papa was my favorite because it actually had a crema and cotija cheese on it. The Esquite was so dang good. It was the best thing I’ve eaten in a minute. The flavors were just amazing.

We also ordered their churros because I love churros and they don’t show up on a lot of menus. So we almost had to order them…

The churros were amazing too. They were served with a side of nutella, goats milk candy, condensed milk and sugar and cinnamon blend…

The Esquite and the churros were out-of-this-world incredibly good. I would definitely stop back at Taqueira 251 just for those two items, and maybe a Papa taco. It was pretty tasty too.

It’s always fun when a new place opens up in our neighborhood. 😀🇲🇽🌮❤️
