Urban Artifact.

After dropping off Oscar at Genifer’s mom’s house, we stopped at Urban Artifact on the way home to get a couple of growlers to take with us to Michigan…

We got a taster to decide which flavors to get in our growlers…

There was an pretty awesome Elvis impersonator…

Did you know there’s live music every night of the week at Urban Artifact?

We got a growler of Keypunch key lime gose, The Gadget raspberry & blackberry sour ale and a howler of Keypunch infused with jalapeño and lime…

We love Urban Artifact. It’s our favorite Cincinnati brewery. And it’s just right around the corner from us. 🙂

Arcade Legacy: Bar Edition.

After wandering through the Northside Summer Market and grabbing a bite to eat at The Littlefield, we decided to check out Arcade Legacy: Bar Edition. Arcade Legacy has been Cincinnati’s premier classic gaming destination since 2009. At their all ages location in the Cincinnati Mall, you can find 70+ arcade games and pinball machines, 20 classic and current gaming consoles, giant projection screens for the newest titles and Rock Band all for just one low admission price. At Arcade Legacy: Bar Edition in Northside, they offer a great selection of beers, cocktails and hot dog creations along with the nearly 50 arcade games and pinball machines, a classic console lounge, current console bar and an outdoor patio space. All games are free to play with the purchase of drinks or food except pinball which is 50¢ a game. It sounded a lot like 16-Bit down in OtR. And 16-Bit was fun the few times we went. But it was just such a looooong walk away from us. Arcade Legacy: Bar Edition is just a hop, skip and a jump from our house near the end of Hamilton Avenue on Spring Grove…

They don’t have many taps but still had some great options with Sweet Baby Jesus and Urban Artifact’s Keypunch…

We had perfect timing. Arcade Legacy: Bar Edition had just opened for the evening and we almost had the entire place to ourselves…

We got to play every arcade game in the place. There were a bunch of good ones. Genifer also schooled me at some Super Mario Bros on SNES…

We never had Nintendo growing up. We had Atari and Sega. The whole place was such a throwback to childhood. And so much fun! We’ll definitely be back to Arcade Legacy: Bar Edition again and again. I want to try some of those gourmet dogs as well! 🙂

Volksfest.

After running some errands this afternoon, we stopped at Listermann Brewing Company to check out this year’s Volksfest. You might remember last summer we managed to pull ourselves away from all the festivities of All-star weekend to check out Volksfest. And it was a lot of fun. It’s basically a summer beer festival serving only local beer from local breweries, and it was back…

On a side note, we didn’t realize that Listermann was so close to our new house, not walking distance or anything. But a pretty short car ride. We really need to check out some of their weekly specials…

Here’s the beer list for the two-day festival…

Everything with an X next to it is what was on tap while we were there.

We got to taste a lot of new beers. We got to try…

Blank Slate Out and About Gose
Tap & Screw Witty Friar Hefe
Rhinegeist Chester Cherry Saisson
Mt. Carmel Hibiscus Blue Blonde Ale
Triple Digit Cortex Imperial Coffee Stout
Mad Tree BA Rubus Cacao Stout aged in wine/bourbon barrels
Cellar Dweller BmlGrl Experimental Brown Ale
Braxton Summertrip Berliner Weiss with passionfruit

Genifer’s favorite was the Braxton Summertrip. Mine was the Rhinegeist Chester.
Good stuff. Volksfest was really a lot of fun. 🙂

Grady’s Cold Brew Coffee.

I’ve heard all sorts of stories about the amazing Grady’s Cold Brew Coffee. So I finally broke down and gave it a try. We ordered their Cold Brew Pour and Store Pouch. It was kind of a no-brainer for just $30 with free shipping. And it makes 36 cups of coffee. We’re not all that great at doing math but I think that works out to less than a dollar per cup of coffee…

We removed the twelve 2-ounce coffee bean bags from inside the Pour and Store pouch. Each bag brews 3 servings of coffee…

We added four of the bean bags to the pouch as instructed and filled it with water…

And then put the pouch in the fridge overnight…

Fast forward to this morning, and we were enjoying some amazing cold brew coffee…

I’m not a huge coffee fan but Genifer is, and we both think it’s pretty amazing stuff! The coffee stays fresh in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. But something tells me it’s not going to last anywhere near that long. I can definitely see Grady’s Cold Brew Coffee becoming a staple in our refrigerator. 🙂

Seen and noted.

The new Corkopolis Wine Market & Bar on Main Street in downtown Cincinnati…

🙂

The Rook Board Game Parlor.

This evening we walked up Vine Street into Over-the-Rhine to check out the brand new board game parlor called The Rook

The Rook is Cincinnati’s first Board Game Parlor, and features nearly 1000 board games along with a full service bar and restaurant serving game night classics!

Growing up, we used to play Rack-O a lot…

I remember playing Hi-Ho Cherry-O…

And classics like Chutes and Ladders and Candy Land…

They had all sorts of drinks with nostalgic touchs like adding a candy necklace garnish, or a pop rock or pixie stick cover rim…

Genifer started with a Tequila Sunny D Rise…

We ordered everything from the “Straight from the Game Table” section of the menu. We tried the traditional classic rolls, bacon & sharp cheddar dogs and the cheesy buffalo chicken tots…

Everything was really good. But hands down the winner was the traditional classic rolls…

Then we got into some games. We started Chutes & Ladders and Candy Land…

And then we dove into some Sorry!

Genifer also tried the Capri Against Humanity drink…

How fun is that? We also played a few rounds of Exploding Kittens and multiple hands of Uno! It was a really fun trip down memory lane. And definitely one that we look forward to taking again very soon! Such a few evening! 🙂

Taft’s Ale House.

After Asian Food Fest, we walked up Race Street….

To go to Taft’s Ale House

While we were there, we had to get some smoked wings with tots and beer cheese…

And on the way home, we saw the Streetcar out and about…

🙂

Nation Kitchen+The Derby.

We went to Nation Kitchen & Bar in Pendleton for a late lunch this afternoon…

We shared their fried bologna sammich, a grilled cheeses and some loaded tots…

Nation’s fried bologna sammich is just out of this world…

Afterwards, we hung around to watch The Derby and have a mint julep…

It was a fun afternoon. Awful lot of hype and build-up for such a short race. On the way home, we saw this city squirrel…

🙂

Happiest hours.

After work this evening, we stopped by Igby’s for some more happiest hours

Thanks to JJVE for gift card that continually funds our 4EG happiest hours! 🙂

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

We had our inspection this evening for the house we’re looking to buy in Northside. It went pretty well. Afterwards, we went over to Urban Artifact in Northside for a rather untraditional Cinco de Mayo beer….

We had a couple of their Key Punch key lime gose sours. They were pretty amazing…

When we got home, we thought about going over to nada for their Cinco de nada celebration. But it started to sprinkle. So we just called it a night. We had been to nada’s Cinco de nada celebration in 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011 and 2010. So we felt pretty okay missing this year’s festivities. Taken with Instagram. 🙂
