Constructing Cincinnati.
When I ride the Metro 17 bus downtown, I get off the bus at the corner of Walnut and Court Street right across from the new downtown Kroger tower. When it’s completed, it will be 18-stories tall and be home to a two-story supermarket, 139 apartments, and a six-story, 555-space parking garage. And it gets taller with each passing day…
I just don’t know what they’re trying to accomplish across the street from work…

It’s that time of year. Big trays of delicious cookies art showing up around the office…
These Busken cookies featuring the new logo I designed for Cincinnati Public Radio also showed up at the office…
It’s pretty neat to see a logo you designed printed on a cookie. I stopped at Graeter’s to get Genifer some of their delicious little tea cookies. They came in two sizes, a little box…
And holy geez that’s a lot of cookies basket…
You can never have too many cookies. And it seemed like there were a lot of them around today. 😀🍪❤️

Downtown details.
I was running some errands around downtown Cincinnati this afternoon, and I was kind of shocked to see that the Tiffany & Co. at Vine and Fifth Streets had closed…
It’s real shame. A while back the downtown TJ Maxx moved across the river to Newport. Then the downtown Macy’s closed their doors. And now Tiffany has left. The only real place to any shopping in the Central Business District is Saks Fifth Avenue. It getting harder and harder to do holiday or birthday shopping in CBD. And that’s a real shame. Also a real shame is the huge, old beautiful pine tree they cut down to display on Fountain Square for a little over a month…
I wish they would just get a big fake tree or come up with some alternative to chopping down a very old tree every year. But in an effort to remain positive, downtown did recently get a Frisch’s Big Boy in Carew Tower on Fifth Street…
I’ll have to check out the new Big Boy soon. Honestly, I keep forgetting it’s over there.
I guess the world giveth and taketh away. It seems like CBD has been more on the taketh side lately. And that also is a real shame.

Deskey holiday party.
Tonight was the Deskey holiday party, and this year it was held at Deskey…
Musical entertainment was provided by Moonshine and Wine…
And dinner was provided by Gabby’s Cafe in Wyoming…
It was another very fun holiday party. 😀🎉❤️

Deskey White Elephant Potluck.
Today was Deskey’s annual White Elephant Potluck Gift Exchange. And all sorts of delicious food made its way into the office for the event…
And of course, there were plenty of desserts too…
After everyone was done stuffing their faces, it was time for the main event…
The big foam fist beer koozie was brought in by our intern and was the hit of exchange. The pile of gifts kept getting smaller and smaller…
Finally, it was my turn. I ended up with this crazy detailed hippo serving tray…
And it goes perfectly with all the other items I’ve accumulated from the Deskey White Elephant Potluck gift exchanges throughout the years…
It was another very fun Deskey White Elephant Potluck. 😀🎁❤️

And I bet they got a really good deal on it. Christmas trees on the super cheap. Unless they’ve just driving around with the tree on top of their vehicle for the last few weeks kind of like that other SUV we saw a little while back. 😀🎄❤️

Three years ago…
Remember when the temperature hit 72º outside a few years back?
That was crazy. And we had the Deskey holiday party up at Rhinegeist…
We walked through the Holiday City Flea at Washington Party and then onto Rhinegeist and I remember to took me forever to stop sweating because it was so warm outside and I wore a jacket. Thanks for the fun memories, Timehop! 😀🦕❤️

Every time I’d walk by this archway on my way down a little alley to go to Dunkin Donuts in downtown Cincinnati, I was always kind of shocked that there wasn’t any graffiti on it…
