Mural, mural on the wall.

How cool is the long mural on Gano Street downtown that’s on the side of the 21c Museum Hotel?

Usually whenever I walk by there is always a delivery van parked right in front of it. I think was the first time I walked by and could finally check it out unobstructed. Well done to the artists, @j_r_ustick and @kiikcreate

Bay Horse Cafe to celebrate 40 years.

This afternoon the office closed a little early to walk down to Bay Horse Cafe

We paused to celebrate our CEO and fearless leader, Doug Studer’s 40th-anniversary of work at Deskey…

Forty years with one company is a very momentous achievement…

SURPRISE!

It was a fun afternoon celebrating an incredible career achievement. And Bay Horse Cafe is a great little place. I can’t wait to head back soon for another beer and maybe grab some lunch from Bay Horse sometime soon. 😀🎂🍻❤️

Seen and noted.

I’ve posted a photo of this before but I love this Toynbee Tile on Seventh Street…

Unfortunately, it’s probably only a matter of time before it gets paved over. Taken with my Polaroid CUBE+. 😀🖌️❤️

It’s Skyline time!

It was Skyline Time for lunch today. Come to find out that in addition to being the Official Chili of our Cincinnati Reds, Skyline in is the Official Chili of our FC Cincinnati. And for a limited time, you could get a free FC Cincinnati cup with your purchase…

Done and done…

Skyline time is delicious. 😀🌭⚽️❤️

Hello praying mantis.

I saw another praying mantis today. This one was just hanging out at work…

That’s the second praying mantis we’ve seen recently. 😀🦗❤️

Bird Scooters?

I’ve been seeing these electric Bird Scooters all over around downtown…

Just one day, they just appeared out of the blue, and in a matter of a couple of days, they were literally everywhere downtown. I didn’t know very much about them at all. And I really didn’t give them much of a second thought. Having just had both hips of my replaced, the last thing I need to be doing is hopping on an electric scooter and zipping around downtown. But after seeing Casey Neistat talk about them on one of his vlogs, I became more curious and downloaded the app to learn more about them.

After you download the app, agree to the terms and conditions and enter billing information, it would appear that you’re good to go. Now from what I understand, you use the app to locate a scooter near you (and looking at the map, they’re everywhere downtown.) Once you find a scooter, you use the app again to unlock the scooter by scanning the barcode on the handlebars. You put the kickstand up, kick-start the scooter three times, then use the throttle button on the handlebar. You ride with both feet on the footboard, use the handbrake to slow down and obey the traffic laws. You end your ride by tapping the END button in the app. Apparently, the scooters cost $1 to unlock with an additional 15¢ a minute until you end your ride and relock your scooter whenever you get to wherever you’re going.

Initially, I’m very skeptical about these scooters. But I was also very skeptical initially about Uber and now we use Uber all the dang time. So someday when I’m feeling particularly brave, I’ll have to take one of these scooters for a ride and check it out.

Crown Republic’s walk-up pastry window.

This afternoon I walked down Eighth Street to Crown Republic to see if I could find the fabled Crown Republic pastry window that I saw mentioned on their Instagram. I was looking for these cookies in particular…

And there it was. The Crown Republic pastry window. And there was also a door…

I managed to get us some goodies for later…

I got us a chocolate pound cake and those delicious-looking chocolate chip cookies…

The pastry window/door is a brilliant idea. And the pastries were delicious! 😀🍪❤️

You saw it here first.

It’s August 1st. And the CVS downtown has Halloween Candy out on the shelves…

August 1st. Please stop rushing my summer. Thank you. 😀🎃❤️

Lunch at someplace other than Arnolds.

We had lunch at nada today for a coworker celebration. Usually, we always have these sort of things at Arnold’s. It’s almost as if someone at work has a minority share in the ownership of the Arnold’s or something with the frequency we have group lunches there. It was really refreshing to go somewhere else. Anywhere else. And I haven’t been to nada in ages

I ordered the little nada sliders with steamed onion, cheese, jalapeño and sweet chili-glazed fries with crema. It was really good. I had forgotten how much I liked their little slider burgers…

Genifer and I will have to go check out their Vacation Vibes Wednesdays after work someday in the not too distant future. 😀🇲🇽🍔❤️

I found another one.

I was on my way back to the office after getting my haircut. And I saw another of these little guys in the crosswalk at Seventh and Walnut Streets…

This one was a little worse for wear than the first one I saw at the intersection of Main and Seventh Streets. I’m still really curious what their stories are? And if there is still some sort of backstory like the Toynbee Tiles around downtown. Now that I’ve seen and second one, I’m going to have to keep an eye out to try to see if I can find any more of them around downtown Cincinnati. 😀🏙️🤖❤️
