Free Donatos pizza!

Whenever the Cincinnati Cyclones score five goals and win, you have five days to exchange your ticket for a free Donatos one topping pizza. After work this evening,
I picked up our free Donatos pizzas from Wednesday’s 7-4 Cyclones win over the Reading Royals. And Genifer found someone’s ticket on the ground as we were leaving US Bank Arena so we had three tickets to redeem for free pizzas…

I managed to get all three of them home on the bus without eating any of them…

And then it was finally time to eat free pizza…

Free pizza sure is delicious! A super big thanks to Donatos and our Cyclones for our free pizza pies! 🙂

Cyclones hockey game #2.

Tonight, we had tickets to our second Cyclones hockey game of the season at US Bank Arena…

We got to US Bank Arena right as the puck was dropping…

And just a couple of minutes after we were in out seats, the Cyclones took a one-nothing lead…

And the ‘Clones made it 2-0 just a few minutes later…

And that’s the way the period would end, 2-0 to the Cyclones…

3-0!

And the ‘Clones took a 4-0 lead! One more goal combined with a Cyclones win and we get free pizza!

After Reading pulled a goal back, the Cyclones netted their fifth goal of the game…

We stepped away to get a beer and use the restroom, when we got back to our seats, the score was now 5-3…

Ugh. 5-4…

The Cyclones tacked on another goal to extend the lead to 6-4…

Two goals down, the Royals pulled their goalie…

And right on cue, the Cyclones capitalized to net their 7th goal of the game…

And that’s how the game would end, 7-4 to our Cyclones!

It was another great evening of Cyclones hockey at US Bank Arena! We can’t wait to get our free pizza from Donato’s in the next couple of days!

Happy North London Derby day!

UPDATE: The match ended in a 1-1 draw. :/

Cyclones hockey game #1.

Tonight, we had tickets to our first Cyclones hockey game of the season

We hopped on the Metro 17 bus from Northside…

And in no time, we were down at US Bank Arena…

It was good to be back at US Bank Arena…

The view from our 12-game season ticket seats is pretty nice…

LET’S PLAY HOCKEY!

There were plenty of good seats still available…

At the end of the first period, the ‘Clones were up 2-0 on the Quad City Mallards…

The Cyclones got a new “zamboni” from that chicken place. The Twister, Porkchop and some fans ride around the ice for a couple of laps and throw out a few t-shirts. But strangely, no new ice is actually laid down…

And then the actual zambonis come out and resurface the ice. Back to hockey…

At the end of the second, it was 3-1 Cyclones…

And the Cyclones won 4-1!

We took an Uber home after the game, and our Uber bill was just 13¢ thanks to a $10 credit we had from last weekend. It was a great surprise ending to a great evening of Cyclones hockey! 🙂

Unbelievable.

108 years, erased during one of the best baseball games I’ve ever seen.
Congratulations, Cubbies! World Series Champions at long last.

Simply unbelievable. Well done. ⚾😢😭😂

Cyclones season tickets.

Genifer got us another 12-game pack of tickets to our Cincinnati Cyclones. And this afternoon, I walked down to US Bank Arena to pick up our hockey tickets…

They were busy getting ready for Carrie Underwood and Disney on Ice at US Bank Arena…

I sure hope the ‘Clones can add to their banner collection again this season…

🙂

FC Cincinnati USL Playoff Edition.

This afternoon was FC Cincinnati’s first USL playoff game

FC|C was the third seed in the USL Eastern Conference. They were taking on the six seeded Charleston Battery. We were hoping for the best but apprehensive because during the regular season FC|C lost away to the Battery 1-0 and drew at Nippert 1-1

Before the match, I was interviewed by Fox19 news. We DVR’d the news and I made the cut. I’ll try to get a video posted of my little interview soon…

Here we go…

At the half, it was all knotted at 1-1 after FC|C’s Eric Stevenson launched a thirty yard rocket into the the upper right corner of the Charleston net in the 19th minute. The wunder strike earned Stevenson the 3 spot on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10 plays.

Charlotte tied the game on a very soft goal in the 40th minute. At halftime, we moved down closer to the goal FC|C would be attacking…

We were waiting for the second FC|C goal that never materialized. Instead, it was Charleston who took the lead 2-1 in the 65th minute…

And in typical FC Cincinnati fashion, they set an new attendance record for a USL post season match. 30,187 showed up to see FC|C’s first posteseason match…

And that’s the way the match would end 2-1 to the Battery

It was an incredible inaugural season that ended much too abruptly. A disappointing way for the season to end but FC Cincinnati’s first season definitely exceeded all expectations. I would have never guessed when it was first announced that Cincinnati was getting a USL soccer team that they would finish third in the Eastern Conference, make the playoffs as the three seed and set the USL single game attendance record not once, twice but three times, broke the USL single season attendance record and the single game attendance for a soccer game in the state of Ohio during their friendly against Crystal Palace. They averaged over 17,000 people per home game. And Ugo Okoli won the USL’s Golden Boot award. It was simply just an amazing first season. We made to every match FC|C played in CincinnatiWe’ve already renewed our season tickets, and we can’t wait for the second season of FC Cincinnati soccer because this season was a blast! And I have the distinct feeling it’s only going to keep getting better and better. 🙂

Reds baseball game #15.

The last weekend of the Reds baseball season. We wanted to get in one more ballgame to make it 15 trips to Great American Ball Park for us this season. We were hanging out at Washington Park for the Pokopolis Pig & Whiskey festival before the game…

Then we walked across Race Street so Genifer could ride the streetcar CB Connector for the first time…

Here it comes…

Apparently, everyone downtown had the exact same idea as us. The Connector was stupid packed…

But we eventually made it to The Banks. We’re pretty sure we could have walked there quicker.

The Reds were playing the Cubs for this final series of the regular season. It was cool to get to see the Cubbies before they embark on their postseason run…

John Lester was on the hill for the Cubs…

Joey Votto’s had an extraordinary second half of the season

It’s ridiculous how good he’s been this year after a slow start. Bases were full of Reds…

Eugenio Suarez went yard

29970410931_5d7562a48a_b

Plenty of seats were still available…

So not surprisingly, we were able to find that Chick-fil-a cow…

And Rosie Red…

Last ball park snacks of the season…

Now the bases were chuck full of Cubbies…

BARGE!

The Cubs brought in Aroldis Chapman to pitch the eighth inning…

With two outs in the eighth, it was Aroldis Chapman versus Joey Votto…

Raisel Iglesias came in to try to shut the door on the Cubs…

And this one belongs to the Reds!

It was a long, tough season for the Reds. But the second half showed a lot of promise and potential for what could be next season. I just know now that for the next couple of weeks I’ll look at the clock see that it’s around 7pm, go to turn on the Reds game and have to remind myself that the season’s over. There isn’t any more Reds baseball until next Spring. And for me, that’s always the hardest part. It’s not the fact that they didn’t do well this year. It’s the fact that their season is over, and I have to wait all winter until I can get to watch my Reds play baseball again. 🙂

Reds baseball game #14.

We went to the second to last Reds Sunday church baseball game of the season…

It was our fourteenth Reds game of the season…

The Pirates Jason Jaso came in to pinch hit…

We saw this guy in the boxes below us, and thought Mat Latos was back in the house…

Time for the Sunday live edition of the Reds mascot race…

Gapper just edged out Fritz the Oktoberfest Zinzinnati mascot…

The Pirates were down to their last strike…

And this one belongs to the Reds!

It’s always great to be back at the ballpark. With a doubt, GABP is one of my favorite places to be in all of Cincinnati. 🙂

FC Cincinnati versus Orlando City B.

This evening we went to watch FC Cincinnati take on Orlando City B at Nippert

At halftime, it was still nil-nil…

SPRINKLES!

1-0 to FC Cincinnati!

And FC Cincinnati reset the USL single game attendance record again for the third time this season…

And that’s the way the match end, 1-0 to FC Cincinnati

And…

With today’s win, FC Cincinnati clinched a home match in the first round of the USL playoffs

FC|C’s home playoff match will be played on Sunday, October 2nd. Get your playoff tickets now! We’ll see you there! 🙂
