OrderUp: Los Potrillos.

When we lived downtown, we used to tap OrderUp to have dinner delivered every now and then. But the delivery times kept getting longer and longer. And eventually,
we gave up on OrderUp and we started using UberEats. For whatever reason, all the good restaurants we liked on UberEats gradually started disappearing to the point there are hardly any restaurants on the app anymore. Tonight, we gave OrderUp another try. We decided to have some delicious Mexican food delivered for dinner from Los Potrillos in Clifton’s Gaslight District. Mexican food always looks like such a hot mess especially when it’s to-go but it sure is delicious stuff! Genifer ordered some enchiladas with rice and beans…

I got my favorite, a ground beef chimichanga also with rice and beans…

We also got some Jalapeno Poppers but they weren’t very good…

But everything else was such great stuff! It’s a little dangerous to know someone will bring me a chimichanga at the push of a button. But pretty awesome at the same time. It’s good to know that OrderUp is back and there are a bunch of really great restaurants on there we’ll have to try. I can definitely see more OrderUp in our near future. 😀🌮🌯❤️

Pause for paws.

On our way to work this morning, we dropped Oscar off at the groomers to get him a haircut. He was starting to look pretty fuzzy again…

Now he looks so handsome again with his summer cut…

😀🐶❤️

A Saturday without power.

We woke up this morning and still didn’t have any power. We walked Oscar and then headed off to find someplace with food and air conditioning. When we got to the end of the street, we got our first real glimpse of what knocked out our power last night. It was this huge tree limb that fell on the power lines…

We walked down to Second Place to hang out for a bit. We got some lunch at Second Place. Genifer got Second Place’s awesome Cuban sammich and I got the smoked pork belly lunch special from The Littlefield

And my pork belly was served with buttermilk biscuits, warm peach compote, and a Jalapeño buttermilk slaw!

We hung out at Second Place for a while, watched the USMNT play Panama in the Gold Cup and then came home to our house without power. Apparently, Duke Energy says power should be restored by noon tomorrow. Thankfully, it was a pretty comfortable evening that wasn’t too hot…

It’s weird and kind of spooky trying to navigate your house without lights…

UPDATE: After spending the night in our surprisingly cool second guest bedroom, we woke up at 6:30 Sunday morning with power! HOORAY FOR POWER! 😀❤️

Friday night without power.

We were sitting on our back patio this evening and watched a storm roll in…

It poured and poured with really strong winds…

After the storm was over, there was a pretty spectacular post-storm evening sky…

We were sitting on our back patio watching the Reds game, and we heard a loud crack. BOOM. All of a sudden our power went out. Pitch black. We walked down to the end of our street to see if we could figure out what happened. We couldn’t see a lot. But it looked like a huge tree limb had fallen on some power lines…

We were hoping that our power would be back on when we woke up in the morning.
😀🌘🕯️🔦

We ate this.

We had some burgers from Tickle Pickle for dinner this evening…

YUM! Tickle Pickle burgers sure are delicious. 😀🍔❤️

It’s what’s for dinner.

Genifer made BBQ chicken with baked beans and crescent rolls for dinner tonight…

YUM! I don’t think there’s anything she’s made that hasn’t been delicious! 😀🐔❤️

One year ago…

I rode the Metro 17 bus into work downtown for the very first time

Cincinnati Metro has made it so easy to get to and from work every day over the last year. Thanks, TimehopTaken with Instagram. 😀🚌

Good morning from Northside.

Good morning from Northside. Taken with Instagram. 😀

Fourth of July.

Today was the annual Northside Fourth of July Parade. Last year, we skipped the parade because it was raining. And we were trying to get situated after just moving into our house. The weather this year wasmaybe a little on the warm side but pretty perfect. The parade was scheduled to step off from way up Hamilton Avenue at noon. So we walked down Pullan Avenue to try to stake out a spot streetside about fifteen minutes beforehand…

While we stood there waiting for our first glimpse of the parade, more and more people continued to line the sides of the street…

There was still no sign of the parade coming down the hill as we continued to bake in the hot noon sun…

So we started walking down Hamilton Avenue towards Hoffner Park…

Instead of standing with the masses, we walked down to Chase Avenue and proceeded over Northside Yacht Club. NSYC was having a Fourth of July USA beer & burger party with a Rhinegeist tap takeover

Genifer had the Burrito Mexican Lager. I had the Maracuja Gose with Passionfruit. And we shared in the legendary NSYC Burger awesomeness…

That was a really great burger! Afterwards, we walked over to Urban Artifact

And then we stopped back through Northside Rock n’ Roll Carnival for a little bit…

When we got home, we ordered a delicious NYPD Station House pizza…

When we got upstairs, we could hear fireworks all around us but we couldn’t see any…

But then we started to see some from our bedroom window…

We had a great Fourth of July enjoying all things Northside. Maybe we’ll watch the parade next year. 😀🍔🍺🍻🎸🍕🇺🇸

One year ago today…

We watched a pretty spectacular fireworks display right from our front lawn…

I hope we get to see some more fireworks tonight! 😀🎇🎆❤️🇺🇸
