Happy Fourth of July!

Good morning from Northside…

People were shooting off a few firework at the end of our street…

And then there fireworks at both ends of our street…

And we could even see fireworks from our backyard…

The ones we saw in our backyard were my favorites. We’ve seen some really great firework displays from our house over the last five years…

And speaking of five years ago, this weekend we were just moving into our house…

We could hear the fireworks popping late into the night. And it was just a pretty lazy Fourth of July. 😀🌄🏡🇺🇸🎆❤️

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Independence Day morning from Northside…

Later this afternoon, we headed out to Geri’s house for a Fourth of July BBQ. On the way out to the burbs, we stopped at a Walgreens in West Chester. And inside Walgreens, we found a floor stand I designed for Venus featuring Four-Time World Surfing Champion & US Olympic hopeful, Carissa Moore

The floor stand really looked terrific. And the next wave of my Venus displays featuring Carissa Moore are going to be arriving in stores very soon. Be sure to keep an eye out for them. It’s always neat when you see your designs come to life out in the real world. Pretty neat stuff!

When we got to Geri’s house, we grilled up a whole bunch of goodness…

YUM! Stuff always tastes so good on the grill even though I left the burgers on the grill a little too long. You can’t beat a Fourth of July cookout.

And then we were back home. Good evening from Northside…

As we settled in for the evening, we got ready to watch some fireworks from our third-floor bedroom window WyzeCam. We’ve been hearing fireworks around us every night for the last two weeks. So we were expecting quite the show tonight…

And we weren’t disappointed…

And here are all the little videos I captured combined into one long video…

And then the fireworks we could see out of our windows were done. We could hear all sorts of fireworks going off all around our house until very early in the morning. We just couldn’t see them.

We hope everyone had a happy and safe Fourth of July. 😀🇺🇸❤️

Labor Day fireworks.

This evening we were invited to our friend Robert’s house in Mount Adams to watch the annual big Labor Day fireworks spectacular. Even when we lived downtown, we usually didn’t bother with the Labor Day fireworks because it’s just a mess of people and traffic. But we were invited and a bunch of our friends were all going so what the heck. He had an incredible view of downtown and the Ohio Riverfront from his patio, perfect for watching the fireworks. It was definitely the best view we’ve had for watching these fireworks. We had a very colorful Uber ride to Mount Adams…

I was messing around with the LapseIt app again during the fireworks…

I also took a video of the entire spectacular fireworks display with my Polaroid CUBE+. That video ended up being just under a half hour long, and there was a lot of chit-chat in the background. So I sped up the video and condensed it to just five minutes and cut out all the sound…

I also captured a couple of slow-motion photos that I posted straight to my Instagram. After the fireworks, there was beer pong…

And there was some flip cup…

I’ve never really played a whole bunch of drinking games. It’s a fact that people find somewhat shocking. When I was younger, we would just go out and get drinks. We didn’t play games. We’d just get drinks. Drinking games always seemed pretty silly. What’s not silly was the view of downtown from Rob’s place…

Everyone headed out to bar hop in Mount Adams, and we hopped in an Uber to head back to Northside. It was a really fun night. 😀🎆❤️

My left hip revision surgery.

This afternoon I went back to The Christ Hospital Joint & Spine Center to undergo my hip revision surgery on my total left hip replacement.

From what I was told, the procedure went great and the revision was a complete success. Genifer hung out with me until the Reds game was about to scheduled to start and then she left to let Mack out in our backyard to go potty…

The bear Genifer got me for my first left hip surgery kept me company…

I had a much better-positioned recovery room this time around for the Reds Friday Night Fireworks. Last time, I could kind of see the fireworks from my recovery room. This time around I had an excellent front room seat for the show…

I had a chef salad for an evening snack…

They had the best bread pudding. It was delicious. I’ll definitely miss having them bring me the delicious bread pudding with caramel sauce.

After a long rain delay, I finally got to watch the Reds game…

I saw bits and pieces of the game. I guess the Reds lost 12-1. Ouch.

It wasn’t exactly the way I planned on spending my Friday but all things considered, everything went very well. I rested comfortably for the rest of the evening. 😀🏥❤️

Fourth of July fireworks.

Once again this year, our neighbors a few streets over from us shot off a bunch of Fourth of July fireworks which we got to enjoy by just looking out of third-floor bedroom window…

We decided to call this their grand finale even though we could still hear fireworks going off around our house until well after midnight…

I think it’s really neat when you don’t even have to leave your house to watch a pretty impressive display of Fourth of July fireworks. 😀🎆❤️

Fourth of July.

Today was the annual Northside Fourth of July Parade. Last year, we skipped the parade because it was raining. And we were trying to get situated after just moving into our house. The weather this year wasmaybe a little on the warm side but pretty perfect. The parade was scheduled to step off from way up Hamilton Avenue at noon. So we walked down Pullan Avenue to try to stake out a spot streetside about fifteen minutes beforehand…

While we stood there waiting for our first glimpse of the parade, more and more people continued to line the sides of the street…

There was still no sign of the parade coming down the hill as we continued to bake in the hot noon sun…

So we started walking down Hamilton Avenue towards Hoffner Park…

Instead of standing with the masses, we walked down to Chase Avenue and proceeded over Northside Yacht Club. NSYC was having a Fourth of July USA beer & burger party with a Rhinegeist tap takeover

Genifer had the Burrito Mexican Lager. I had the Maracuja Gose with Passionfruit. And we shared in the legendary NSYC Burger awesomeness…

That was a really great burger! Afterwards, we walked over to Urban Artifact

And then we stopped back through Northside Rock n’ Roll Carnival for a little bit…

When we got home, we ordered a delicious NYPD Station House pizza…

When we got upstairs, we could hear fireworks all around us but we couldn’t see any…

But then we started to see some from our bedroom window…

We had a great Fourth of July enjoying all things Northside. Maybe we’ll watch the parade next year. 😀🍔🍺🍻🎸🍕🇺🇸

One year ago today…

We watched a pretty spectacular fireworks display right from our front lawn…

I hope we get to see some more fireworks tonight! 😀🎇🎆❤️🇺🇸

Fourth of July fireworks.

People a couple streets over from us were setting off fireworks most of the evening. Like really legit fireworks. It was pretty much a full blown Rozzi’s Reds Friday Night Fireworks display just spread out over a much longer amount of time. I think they were shooting off fireworks for around two hours. We enjoyed the show right from the comfort of our front porch…

And then they set off their grand finale

Very impressive. Afterwards our street was filled with smoke…

It was a pretty spectacular end to an amazing first weekend in Northside. 🙂

Good evening.

After the FC Cincy match, we watched a few July 2nd fireworks from our front yard…

It was a pretty good evening. 🙂
