And we’re back at it.

We’re back at it, working from home after having a long twelve day holiday break. And of course, it would be a grey and overcast, rainy Monday morning. I mean, why wouldn’t it be?

Good morning from Northside…

And good evening from Northside…

We had another one of the Kroger Prep+Pared Home Chef Express meals. This one had a really long name too. This was one Baked Chicken Parmesan with garlic herb butternut squash and Brussels sprouts…

It was another really good meal. The chicken was delicious and the veggies were really good as well. This is another meal that would have gone really well with garlic bread. But somehow, we were all fresh out. Still, we like the Kroger Prep+Pared Home Chef Express meal kits a lot.

I was kinda hoping that today would be gradual easing back into work. Nope. That wasn’t the case at all. I got tossed in the middle of two turn and burn projects. The second involved me creating eight of these three-quarter view renders of designs I created well before holiday break…

I finally got them all done around 11:30pm. Nothing like a 16 hour day on your first day back after the holiday break. So much for a slow and easy first day back to work.
😀🌄🍽️💻❤️

Today was all about treats.

There was still a little bit of snow on the ground this morning…

Good morning from Northside…

Day 17 of my Lego City Advent Calendar…

My work dropped off this holiday care package this afternoon…

It was a pretty great bag stuffed full of all sorts of treats. It was very nice of Grey to do this and hand deliver all these treats.

Good evening from Northside…

For dinner tonight, we made one of our Lou Malnati’s Chicago-style deep-dish pizza that we got in the mail yesterday from JJVE…

What a delicious pizza! It was such a good pie so cheesy and delicious.
Thanks again, JJVE!

For dessert, we had a couple of little mini cheesecakes that Genifer picked up from Taste of Belgium after she was done having lunch with her coworkers…

Those little cheesecakes were really delicious as well.

And this showed up in the mail for us today…

Thanks again, mom & dad! We love us some pizza. Especially delicious Taft’s pizza! We’ll definitely be putting this to good use very soon. Hopefully, we’ll be able to wait until after Christmas.

Tonight, we watched Ava on Netflix. It was like a female Jason Bourne or John Wick or something. And Mack actually came upstairs and crashed out on the bed while we were watched the movie…

Ava was pretty good. Very action packed.

In my Timehop today, the logo I designed for Cincinnati Public Radio popped up from two years ago. After a lengthy design process, the new logo was finally unveiled and then showed up on Cincinnati Public Radio’s website

Next, it started turning up pretty much everywhere around Cincinnati. Like on their Twitters…

And then it was a 2019 GD USA Award winner. And I still think that’s pretty cool. Thank Timehop for letting me relive this treat.

Today was a great day and was all about lotsa of great treats. 😀🌄🛍️🍕🍮📺🦕❤️

Skin in the game.

I’ve been working on this shopper in-store display project for Gillette Venus featuring four-time world surfing champion and US Olympic hopeful, Carissa Moore for almost a year now. And all the hard work is finally paying off because the displays are starting to show up in stores. We found the displays that I designed first in Walgreens and then Meijer. This afternoon the group creative director at Grey Midwest presented all the work we did on this project to the entire creative department. I snagged a few of the photos of the endcap he used is his presentation…

His photos were styled much better than mine. During his presentation, he had a bunch of really nice things to say about me. And after his presentation, he had some really nice things to say about me in a group chat with the creative department as well…

This display was inspired by an outdoor shower at the beach. After his presentation, I posted this end cap display to my design Instagram along with the initial design theme mood board, my concept sketch, the final rendering, and the photos…

Not long after I posted to Instagram, I noticed Carissa Moore liked my post…

And that makes the whole thing pretty dang cool. 😀💻🏄‍♀️❤️

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Independence Day morning from Northside…

Later this afternoon, we headed out to Geri’s house for a Fourth of July BBQ. On the way out to the burbs, we stopped at a Walgreens in West Chester. And inside Walgreens, we found a floor stand I designed for Venus featuring Four-Time World Surfing Champion & US Olympic hopeful, Carissa Moore

The floor stand really looked terrific. And the next wave of my Venus displays featuring Carissa Moore are going to be arriving in stores very soon. Be sure to keep an eye out for them. It’s always neat when you see your designs come to life out in the real world. Pretty neat stuff!

When we got to Geri’s house, we grilled up a whole bunch of goodness…

YUM! Stuff always tastes so good on the grill even though I left the burgers on the grill a little too long. You can’t beat a Fourth of July cookout.

And then we were back home. Good evening from Northside…

As we settled in for the evening, we got ready to watch some fireworks from our third-floor bedroom window WyzeCam. We’ve been hearing fireworks around us every night for the last two weeks. So we were expecting quite the show tonight…

And we weren’t disappointed…

And here are all the little videos I captured combined into one long video…

And then the fireworks we could see out of our windows were done. We could hear all sorts of fireworks going off all around our house until very early in the morning. We just couldn’t see them.

We hope everyone had a happy and safe Fourth of July. 😀🇺🇸❤️

76,000 check-ins!

I just tallied my 76,000th check-in with My Swarm

I still really like my check-ins on Swarm! 😀⭐️❤️

HAPPY OPENING DAY!

HAPPY OPENING DAY! Baseball is finally back! 🤗⚾️😍

Urban Artifact & Wildfire Pizza.

Oscar was watching us leave from our front window this afternoon…

“Hey, hey. Where are you going?” Sorry, buddy. We were heading out to walk over to have a beer at one of our favorite spots, Urban Artifact

And we wanted to finally check out their new wood-fired pizza kitchen located just across the courtyard called Wildfire Pizza Kitchen

We’ve been drooling over their photos on Instagram for a while now. We were really excited to try it. We each ordered a personal-sized pizza and cheese bread…

Cheese bread…

My Dad’s Favorite meat-za…

And Genifer’s Super Hawaiian…

Their pizza is outstanding! We’re always happy to have another great pizza place in the neighborhood. Northside is quickly becoming the best pizza neighborhood in Cincinnati. And we love it! 😀🍺🍕❤️

USL rebrands and it’s wonderful.

We were watching our FC Cincinnati play away to Pittsburgh Riverhounds. The match ended in a very uneventful 0-0 draw. But at halftime, USL unveiled their new future rebranding, and it was pretty slick…

As a designer who loves soccer, this would have been a dream project to work on. And it’s really well done. It’s a very nice rebranding for USL Soccer. The entire effort, everything about it feels very Premier League to me. The animations, the graphics, the fonts, the whole thing is wonderful. Well done, USL! I love how they tiered their leagues. It makes me sad that Cincinnati isn’t going to be a part of it. Because I think it’s great. I think the USL has a lot more vision than MLS. MLS has always just seemed like a huge cash grab to me. Less about the soccer, certainly less about the fans, definitely about snatching every last dollar possible. Sorry, I’m just not a fan of MLS. At all.

Here are the “highlights” from a pretty boring 0-0 draw…

But with this draw, FC Cincinnati tied a USL record by extending their undefeated streak to 22 matches. They can break the record next weekend at Nashville in the game of the regular season. 😀⚽️🏆❤️

Seen and noted.

How cute are these illustrations on the packaging for the Babyganics line of products?

We saw them at Walgreen’s and I thought they were super cute. I’m really a pretty big sucker for packaging that incorporates great illustration. 😀👏❤️
