Deskey+Elementz.

We are working on a visual identity for a client that is all about the community of Cincinnati. We are partnering with Elementz,Ā Cincinnati’s Hip Hop youth center. It’s essentially an urban arts centerĀ where inner city kids can gather and create anything from hip-hop to street dance, spoken word poetry to street art, photography and visual arts. We’re teaming up with four ElementzĀ students for inspirational design to ensure our identity is representative of the community. The students were asked to use their creative platform of choice to develop a concept that represents their community.

This afternoon we got to meet with the students and tour Elementz…

Those are some very super talented kids. And Elementz space is pretty amazing. It’ll be great to work with this group and see what we can come up with together. šŸ˜€

On the way home, I stopped at Urban Artifact to pick up some more Finn, and on my way out spotted this funny guy just around the corner from these guys

Seen and noted.

Walking back down Court Street, I stumbled across one of the most amazing Artworks murals I’ve seen yet. It’s a mural paying homage toĀ Cincinnati’s rich toy history

Cincinnati Toy Heritage celebrates “the legacy of Kenner Toys, a Cincinnati-based toy company founded in 1947, in this work of art which showcases some of the most popular toys that were designed by the company.” Artworks has done some amzing, incredible murals. It’s just really a shame I have to look at this one all day at work. :/

And on my way back to work, I noticed this crude little drawling on the side of one of the buildings on Walnut Street…

It’s nowhere near as elaborate as the Artworks mural but every bit as entertaining. šŸ™‚

Northside nubs.

Every time I see this little white squiggle on the sidewalk at the end of our street, it always reminds me of Oscar.Ā And I know I’m really close to home…

Kobra in Cincy!

World-famous muralist Eduardo Kobra is turning the once bare facade of theĀ Fifth Third Bank parking garage on Walnut Street into a public masterpiece. The mural pays tribute to Ohioan Neil Armstrong – whose ā€œone giant leap for mankindā€ will forever be remembered as a moment of breathtaking awe. From ArtWorks website…

Neil Armstrong was a humble leader who inspired generations of students, explorers and innovators. Tune in over the next two weeks as Eduardo Kobra (fresh off of completing a record breaking mural for the Rio Olympics),Ā works alongside Artworks local artists and youth Apprentices to bring his vision to life.
