Another new really fun place! I love how more and more of the bars and restaurants that are opening here and there are including large outdoor patio spaces. π
We had lunch catered in from Rooted Juicery and Kitchenin Oakley. Rooted aims to provide their customers the most delicious and health-packed plant based foods possible. I ordered the burrito wrap. It was brown rice, Mexican beans, pickled onions, guacamole, pico, romaine, cabbage, walnut “taco” meat, cashew cheese & bbq sauce…
It was surprisingly good for being entirely plant-based. It would have been outstanding with some chicken or real taco meat. But I guess that’s not really their thing. I also had a blissful blend drink…
The drink was outstanding. I could drink a couple of those everyday. It’s good to try different things every now and then. Especially when it’s free. π
And tonight, we finally got to test it out. We mixed up all the ingredients for a simple chocolate ice cream. Only instead of cocoa powder, we used Nestle Quik powder because why not? Hopefully, it’ll be like a glass of frozen chocolate milk…

I lost track of how long it took for the liquid ingredients we poured into the ice cream maker to actually become ice cream. It wasn’t the world’s fastest transformation by any stretch. But eventually, we had our very first batch of homemade ice cream…
And it was delicious stuff! So chocolately and good. Now we just need to work on our ice cream serving skills because our curly cones were kind of sad. I can’t wait to keep trying new flavors. This is going to be so awesome come the summer time. I see some soft serve pina coladas in our future. π
