One year ago today…

One year ago today, I asked Genifer to marry me. She said yes. And it’s been a pretty amazing year since then. I love you so much, baby! 💍❤

Thanks for the reminder, #Timehop. 🙂

Habañero Burrito Mondays.

After the success of getting carry-out Taco Tuesday, I got off the bus on the way home today to check out Habañero’s Burrito Mondays. Burritos are just $5 on Mondays. I picked us up two burritos, along with chips and salsa and got back on the bus to head the rest of the way home. Habañero’s burritos are pretty massive…

Genifer got grilled chicken in hers. Of course, I got taco meat…

We got meat, Mexican rice, black beans, cheese, sour cream and medium salsa in them. And it made for some really delicious burritos! Maybe even better than their tacos! For the two burritos and chips and salsa it was almost $12. You can’t beat that. I can see Habañero’s Burrito Mondays becoming a regular staple in our house. It’s going to be hard to decide between Burrito Mondays and Taco Tuesdays. We’ll have to alternate. All I know is, there are definitely worse problems to have. 🙂

ps. I took more photos of Habañero but when I went to look for them, they had up and disappeared from my phone. I’m not sure what happened. But next time we visit we’ll be sure to take some more photos.

#CincyBurgerWeek!

It’s that time of year again! It’s CINCINNATI BURGER WEEK! $5 Burgers at 50+ restaurants all around Cincinnati all week long. Check out this year’s list of participating restaurants! Go get you burger on! 🙂

It’s what’s for breakfast.

We finally used our new waffle maker that Genifer got us all the way back at Christmas to make some Belgian waffles for breakfast this morning…

Taste of Belgium they were not. But they were still pretty dang delicious! 🙂

INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY: FC Cincinnati versus Crystal Palace.

This afternoon we hopped on the Metro 17 bus over to University of Cincinnati for what we fully expected to be the single biggest soccer event the state of Ohio has ever seen. Our beloved FC Cincinnati were playing host to South London’s Crystal Palace of the English Premier League. Palace was founded all the way back in 1905, and just a few months ago played in the 2016 FA Cup Final, finishing as runners-up in competition to Manchester United…

We stopped at the St. Clair for pregame drinks, as usual. But it filled up much quicker than most Saturdays…

The St. Clair got too crowded so we joined the festivities out on U Square where there was quite the pregame party going on just outside the St. Clair…

And then we headed over to Nippert…

Here come the teams…

Such atmosphere…

Crystal Palace manager, Alan Pardew…

The Bailey revealed their tifo for the match…

FC Cincinnati manager, John Harkes on the left and Palace manager Alan Pardew on the right, and behind them it said “Dance Dance Dance Harkes vs. Pardew”

And eight minutes into the match, it was 1-0 Crystal Palace…

Genifer commented that she was surprised it took Palace that long to score.

We were really wondering coming in if the scoreline was going to get ugly…

But despite giving up the early goal, FC Cincinnati were really holding their own…

At the end of the first half, it was 1-0 to Crystal Palace…

SPRINKLES!

For the second half, I actually put my camera down and just enjoyed the match and the incredible atmosphere. You know… For the most part. 2-0 to Crystal Palace…

And then tonight’s attendance was revealed…

35,061! The largest crowd to ever see a soccer match in the state of Ohio. And FC Cincinnati’s first ever sell out! A snippet from FC Cincinnati’s President & General Manager, Jeff Berding’s weekly email stated:

“London’s The Telegraph noted that we posted the highest attendance for a soccer match in America over the weekend. The 35,061 was higher than every other Major League Soccer match with the next best nearly 10,000 shy. Of our major league efforts, they stated, “With each passing week, their credibility goes through the roof.”

Alan Pardew expressed his gratitude by saying, “The atmosphere was phenomenal. Hats off to everybody who turned up.” He even went so far as to call it a championship environment.

And that’s how the match would end, 2-0 to Crystal Palace…

It was a very respectable scoreline for FC Cincinnati…

Afterwards, we hopped back on the 17 and headed back to Northside…

We completely forgot about the post match fireworks, which from the photos I’ve seen looked pretty spectacular. Both the FC|C and Palace players stayed on the field to watch the show.

FC Cincinnati are currently in third place in the USL’s Eastern Conference. This week FC|C will host second place New York Red Bulls 2 at Nippert on Wednesday at 7pm. The match is also ESPN3’s USL Stream of the Week. And then on Saturday, they host first place Louisville City at 4pm in a match which will determine the winner of the first annual River Cities Cup.

On Saturday July 30th, FC|C will host fourth placed Charleston Battery at 7pm. These three matches will determine whether FC Cincinnati will get the opportunity to host postseason games at the friendly confines of Nippert Stadium.

FC|C is well on their way to hitting their goal for a crowd of 15,000 for Wednesday’s match and hoping for 25,000 for Saturday’s White Out against Louisville.

We hope to see you there! 🙂

It’s a sign.

Pokemon Go is taking over the world. Taken with Instagram. :/

Fountain Square Eats.

Lunch on the Square with about a half dozen of our favorite Cincinnati food trucks at Fountain Square Eats every Thursday from 11a-2. YUM!

Gearing up for Crystal Palace.

I stopped by the FC Cincinnati store on Fourth Street this afternoon…

To pick us up two of the commemorative FC|C versus Crystal Palace t-shirts…

Last week, I picked each of us up one of the commemorative scarves. I just want all the souvenirs I can get from this match, the single biggest soccer match in the history of Cincinnati. It’s pretty amazing to think we have an English Premier League team training and playing in Cincinnati this week! And apparently I’m not alone in my excitement, there have already been 30,000+ tickets sold for this match!

But FC Cincinnati’s match is just one of nine international club friendlies that USL clubs have scheduled this year.

If you can’t make it to Nippert for THE match, FC|C v. CPFC Friendly is going to be Streamed Live on Facebook!

Northside Farmer’s Market.

The Northside Farmer’s Market takes place everyday Wednesday from 4-7pm at Hoffner Park in Northside. I met Genifer at Hoffner Park, and we got to check it out for the very first time today…

There was so much good looking produce there! We picked up some cucumbers and green beans. They also had vendors selling meats, farm fresh eggs, soups and breads. We were also able to get some information about the new Apple Street Market, a full service grocery store for the people and by the people that will be located on Apple Street in Northside…

We can’t wait to stock up on all the goodness the the Northside Farmers Market has to offer every Wednesday!

Habañero Taco Tuesdays.

Every day on the bus ride home, I pass Habañero in Clifton. I guess I’ve always known it was right around here somewhere. But before we moved, I never really sought it out.  The bus rolled passed and I thought, “Oh, so that’s where that is. We should try that sometime.” Come to find out that every Tuesday is Taco Tuesday at Habañero. So I hopped off the bus on the way home this evening to check Taco Tuesday and grab us some $2 tacos…

And five minutes later, I was holding a big bag of tacos and chips & salsa waiting for catch the bus home…

Genifer and Oscar met me at the bus stop and we walked home to enjoy some tacos…

I got two adobo chicken tacos, one bbq chicken, two ground beef and one pork and of course, chips and salsa…

I got all of this for just over $13. And it was way too much food. Next time, I’m just going to get two, maybe three tacos and chips and salsa. But they were so good! Not much to look at or take photos of, but nonetheless, sooo good. Genifer’s favorite were the Adobo chicken. My favorite was the ground beef. Nothing says taco to me like taco meat tacos. On Taco Tuesdays, you get your choice of meat, choice of beans, Mexican rice and two toppings all for just $2 a taco. I can definitely see many more Habañero Taco Tuesdays in our future! And we can’t wait to check out Burrito Mondays too! 🙂
