The biggest bar night of the year.

Tonight, we went out tonight to have a beer at Higher Gravity

We went to Melt for a delicious dinner. And onto Urban Artifact for another beer…

It was a really fun biggest bar night of the year. 😀🍺🍻🦃❤️

Operation Plowshare.

We stopped by our favorite brewery, Urban Artifact this evening after work…

Yesterday, they tapped their Operation Plowshare, a Blackberry Midwest Fruit Tart. It tastes just like the filling from a jelly doughnut. Remember last fall when they gave you the options of having it with or without a sprinkle-covered rim? There weren’t any sprinkles this year but it was every bit as delicious…

We’re going to have to stop back and pick up a couple of four packs…

Great stuff. We love Urban Artifact and their amazing beers. 😀🍩🎃❤️

Higher Gravity: Meet the Brewery.

It was an overcast and gloomy evening but that didn’t stop us from meeting after work at Higher Gravity for another Meet the Brewery

Tonight’s brewery was Platform Beer Company from Cleveland…

Higher Gravity had three Platform beers on tap to try. We sampled Platform’s IPA called Paranormal Hoptivity, The Peach Project and Yammy Yammy. They were all really good. The Yammy Yammy was my favorite. They have a taproom in Cleveland as well as Columbus. And they were saying that they would like to open a taproom in Cincinnati. So we’ll have to keep an eye out for that. The fourth beer in our flight was Moozie from Brink Brewing Company just up Hamilton Avenue from us. Also, very good. On the way home, we saw these Halloween Elmo’s in a window…

It was another fun evening of sampling some new beers in Northside. 😀🍺🍻⬆️❤️

Rhinegeist Charitable Suds.

Genifer picked me up from work this evening and we went up to Rhinegeist in Over-the-Rhine for Charitable Suds…

Every Wednesday for 5-8pm, Rhinegeist donates $1 from every draft beer sold in their taproom to a different charitable organization. And they call it Charitable Suds. This week’s organization was Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services were Genifer works in Human Resources…

So we thought we would do our part and have a beer… you know, for charity…

Every time I’ve been in Rhinegeist, I’m always so impressed by the space…

Genifer’s co-workers are really nice,and it was a really good time. 😀🍺🍻❤️

Higher Gravity: Meet the Brewery

After work this evening I met Genifer at Higher Gravity for another edition of Meet the Brewery. This weeks brewery was Streetside from Cincinnati’s east side. We really enjoyed visiting Streetside a couple months back so we were really excited to get to try a few more of their beers right in our own backyard…

Higher Gravity had four Streetside beers on tap this evening…

All of the Streetside beers were pretty good. But their Glitter Freeze Sour and Key Lime Gose were outstanding. The key lime had vanilla bean added in the brewing process and it made the beer taste just like a slice of key lime pie complete with whipped cream and graham cracker crust. It was pretty terrific…

The guys were on hand from Streetside to talk about their process and answer questions as we sampled both their Key Lime Pie Goes…? and Glitter Freeze…

It’s pretty great to be able to try a choice selection of beers from a different brewery each and every week…

And that’s just one of the reasons we love Higher Gravity. 😀🍺🍻❤️

Higher Gravity: Meet the Brewery.

This evening we walked over to Urban Artifact to try their Vanilla Chariot Cherry Gose variant and their new Owler Tart Vanilla Brown

Turns out, they had just run out of the Vanilla Chariot the night before. But the Owler was very, very good. On the way home, we stopped by Higher Gravity for another of their Thursday night Meet the Brewery events featuring Covington’s Braxton Brewing Company and Braxton Labs in Newport. Higher Gravity was featuring four Braxton beers on tap…

They had Braxton’s Blown Gasket Porter and three beers from their Braxton Labs: New England IPA #002, Sweet Potato Casserole and Belgian Blonde with Chamomile. After the taster, we had a Braxton Blown Gasket so we could take home the sweet Braxton Pint Glass and some sweet Braxton shades…

Just another fun Thursday evening in Northside. 😀🍺❤️

Northside Wednesday.

After work this evening, we walked through the Northside Farmer’s Market

We stopped at Urban Artifact to try their latest creation called Love Letter Peach Midwest Tart, have another taste of their Anaglyph Banana Midwest Fruit Tart and try their new Spicy Chariot Tart Cherry Gose

Then we stopped a taco at Django Western Taco because it was National Taco Day

And then we headed home…

It was a pretty good Wednesday in Northside! 😀👨‍🌾🍺🌮❤️

Northside Saturday.

At the end of our street, all these cones were having a cone party…

We walked through an open house of a new home for sale around the corner from us…

It was nice. But it was waaaay out of our budget. We like our house just fine, thank you very much. We kept walking over to Boswell’s Alley for lunch…

We shared some Bos Bites…

And we shared a Super Grill…

YUM! The fire trucks were pulling out just after we passed by…

We stopped for a beer at Urban Artifact

We had an Anaglyph Midwest Fruit Tart made with real bananas and a Tricorne Tart Pawpaw New England IPA that they collaborated to make with Sam Adams…

And we got to hang out with our new friends, Tayler and Chris…

It was another fun Saturday in Northside. 😀🍺🍻❤️

Northside Saturday.

This afternoon we went back over to the new Taft’s Brewporium for lunch…

Garlic knots, 10″ pepperoni pizza, loaded tots and some shuffleboard…

More of the Brewporium was opened up this time, their space is huge…

Later, we met some new friends at Higher Gravity and caught the second half of the Michigan game. And then we walked down to Second Place for FC Cincinnati away match to St. Louis. Michigan finally pulled away from Purdue, and the FC|C match ended in a 2-2 draw. It was another really fun Saturday in Northside. 😀⬆️❤️

Taft’s Brewporium.

When we lived downtown, we used to love going to Taft’s Ale House down in OtR, even though we didn’t get there as often as we would like. When we moved to Northside, we noticed that Taft’s had a huge warehouse at the corner of Spring Grove and Mitchell Avenues. We hoped that they had a taproom but no such luck. The warehouse space was just a canning and distribution center. Fast forward a year or so and come to find out that Taft’s is indeed finally opening a tap room in the warehouse. And today was the soft opening of the new Taft’s Brewporium just down the street in Spring Grove Village….

It’s a huge space…

Complete with shuffleboard…

All our Taft’s favorites were on tap…

Taft’s Brewporium also serves food, mainly New Haven-style pizzas. From what I’ve read, New Haven-style pizza is a cross between old-world Neapolitan and New York-style pizza. It uses coal-fired ovens to create a thin, crispy, lightly charred crust. Hey, pizza is pizza. Let’s give it a try…

We couldn’t resist starting with some loaded tots as well…

And we got a 10″ pepperoni pizza. It was delicious!

And with that, we were stuffed. The official Grand Opening for Taft’s Brewporium is next Saturday. It sounds like a pretty fun event

Great beers. Great pizzas and tots. Great place. We’ll definitely be back very soon!

Taft’s Brewporium is a terrific addition to the neighborhood! 😀🍺🍕❤️
