The Rook Board Game Parlor.

This evening we walked up Vine Street into Over-the-Rhine to check out the brand new board game parlor called The Rook

The Rook is Cincinnati’s first Board Game Parlor, and features nearly 1000 board games along with a full service bar and restaurant serving game night classics!

Growing up, we used to play Rack-O a lot…

I remember playing Hi-Ho Cherry-O…

And classics like Chutes and Ladders and Candy Land…

They had all sorts of drinks with nostalgic touchs like adding a candy necklace garnish, or a pop rock or pixie stick cover rim…

Genifer started with a Tequila Sunny D Rise…

We ordered everything from the “Straight from the Game Table” section of the menu. We tried the traditional classic rolls, bacon & sharp cheddar dogs and the cheesy buffalo chicken tots…

Everything was really good. But hands down the winner was the traditional classic rolls…

Then we got into some games. We started Chutes & Ladders and Candy Land…

And then we dove into some Sorry!

Genifer also tried the Capri Against Humanity drink…

How fun is that? We also played a few rounds of Exploding Kittens and multiple hands of Uno! It was a really fun trip down memory lane. And definitely one that we look forward to taking again very soon! Such a few evening! 🙂

Taft’s Ale House.

After Asian Food Fest, we walked up Race Street….

To go to Taft’s Ale House

While we were there, we had to get some smoked wings with tots and beer cheese…

And on the way home, we saw the Streetcar out and about…

🙂

Asian Food Fest.

We walked up to Washington Park to check out the 6th annual Asian Food Fest

We started our Asian Food Fest with a couple of Sapporo’s…

We got tried some very interesting Kimchi Poutine…

And we got some crab rangoons…

I love crab rangoons! Of course, we remembered to take a photo after we had already eaten three or four of them. And the Vietnamese empanadas we ordered were also devoured before we remembered to snap a photo. :/

Asian Food Fest is fun! Even more fun at Washington Park. Remember when it used to be in The Banks? 🙂

Nation Kitchen+The Derby.

We went to Nation Kitchen & Bar in Pendleton for a late lunch this afternoon…

We shared their fried bologna sammich, a grilled cheeses and some loaded tots…

Nation’s fried bologna sammich is just out of this world…

Afterwards, we hung around to watch The Derby and have a mint julep…

It was a fun afternoon. Awful lot of hype and build-up for such a short race. On the way home, we saw this city squirrel…

🙂

It’s a sign.

After the FC Cincinnati match, we met some friends at 16-Bit in Over-the-Rhine…

Always good times at 16-Bit. Taken with Instagram. 🙂

Brunch at Ché.

Early this afternoon, we walked up Walnut Street into Over-the-Rhine to check out Ché, the new Argentinian restaurant/bar that “uses fine ingredients and traditional methods to produce exceptional artisanal empanadas, meats, pizzas charcuteries, soups & stews.” We’ve been wanting to check out Ché for a bit. But we couldn’t manage to fit in a visit before we left for Jamaica. Today, we got to check out Ché’s brunch…

Ché makes their own Bloody Mary mix in house. And they are out of this world…

Genifer ordered the El Huevo Escoces, the Argentinian take on the Scottish Egg served with cheesy homestyle potatoes with salsa…

And it was pretty dang amazing. A hard-boiled egg wrapped in bacon and tucked inside an empanada… WOW!

Absolute delicious genius. I tried the La Trifecta. Because I love me some empanadas. So give me tres!

All of the empanadas were incredible. But it was pretty much a toss-up between the spinach or the ham & cheese empanada for my favorite…

It was an incredible brunch. One of the best we’ve had a while. And it was a great place. I loved their decor.

We’ll definitely be back for brunch! We can’t wait to try Ché’s lunch and dinner menus! 🙂

A superb Sunday.

Today, my parents, Genifer and I walked up into Over-the-Rhine for lunch. Along the way, we stopped in to check out Elm & Iron on Vine Street…

And there’s a dang Swiss gondola in the store…

Which could be yours if the Price is Right…

They have such unique stuff at Elm & Iron. I don’t know who can afford most of it. But unique nonetheless. From there we headed over to Taft’s Ale House for lunch…

The Huntsman Stew my dad ordered was really on point…

And so was the chicken sammich Genifer and I shared…

We had another beer at Taft’s Ale House down in the lower level at Nellie’s Tap Room. And then headed over to have a drink at Nation Kitchen and Bar in Pendleton…

There are some really gorgeous building in Over-the-Rhine. These two are on Main Street…

On the way home, we swung through Horseshoe Casino. Mom walked out the casino with more money than she had when she walked. And that always makes for a good day!

We made it home just in time for the start of the Superb Owl because after all, it is…

Mom brought Polish Mistakes, or Hanky Pankies as Genifer like to call them…

And bacon-wrapped water chestnuts…

And I made these pepperoni balls for the big game…

It was a really great and delicious weekend with my parents! We crammed a lot of stuff in to just a couple of days! We can’t wait to see them again when we get married in Jamaica in just a couple weeks! 🙂

Low Spark.

We were out again taking care of some last minute gift shopping in Over-the-Rhine, and afterwards we stopped in to check out 4EG’s newest bar, Low Spark on Republic Street…

It’s not a very big place at all…

The focal point of Low Spark is the octopus tank behind the bar…

But we didn’t really get to see the octopus. We were told it usually comes out after midnight.  We hung out for a little bit and had a couple of ciders…

Really cool place. It seemed very chill. Next time we’re in the neighborhood, we’ll definitely stop in for a drink. And next time, we’ll have to try a cocktail or two because their cocktail list looks pretty dang amazing. 🙂

Holiday shopping in OtR.

Work gave me a half-day off today to do some holiday shopping. So we ventured up into Over-the-Rhine’s Gateway Quarter to check out the relatively new Elm & Iron

We went over to check out the new Victor Athletics Club on Republic Street…

But they’re closed on Monday. So we wandered back down Vine Street…

To Gateway Quarter staple, Mica 12/v

Soooo much incredible stuff! It would be pretty amazing to be able to run the social media for these places especially their Instagram accounts. 🙂

It’s a sign.

We saw this sign up in Over-the-Rhine today…

This sign would be perfect for the Stick Figures in Peril photo group. And be careful around those streetcar tracks if you’re out riding your bicycle. 🙂
