#JJVECincy2021 Sunday.

Our morning started off with knocking around the soccer ball in our backyard…

And we took the dogs on their morning walk…

Violette and Edgerton took turns walking Captain Oskey…

Good morning from Northside…

We walked to Sidewinder to get breakfast and coffees…

And we walked Up Hamilton Avenue to eat our breakfast at Jergen’s Park..

And we got to play at another playground…

After playing in the park, we walked home through Parker Woods…

After a bit, we headed down into Over-the-Rhine…

We parked at Washington Park and walked to Taft’s Ale House for lunch…

Lunch was delicious. We walked back down to Washington Park…

So the kids could play in the fountains…

And they got to play on the playgrounds…

Then we walked over to get rolled ice cream…

The ice cream was delicious! Thanks Simply Rolled!

We had a really great time down in OtR…

On our way back to Northside, we drove by the new soccer stadium in the West End…

When we got home, we took the dogs around the block. Violette and Edgerton took turns walking Captain Oskey again…

Good eveinng from Northside…

Violette wanted to rake the stones in our backyard…

We fired up the grill and made some burgers and hot dogs…

When we were at Taft’s Ale House, Surf’s Up was coming on one of the TVs in the bar. The kids became enamored with the movie. So this evening, we watched it in our backyard…

It was a pretty good movie. The kids really seemed to like it.

It was another really wonderful day with JJVE. We had the most amazing Sunday. It was the best day again. 😀🌄🏡😍🥰❤️

An afternoon in OtR.

It was a beautiful Saturday morning…

There were a bunch of berries on our side yard sidewalk…

I think our sidewalk is going to be purple for a while…

Good morning from Northside…

We drove down into Over-the-Rhine early this afternoon. The June edition of The City Flea was taking place at Washington Park. We found a parking spot on Central parkway across the street from the new home of FC Cincinnnati, TQL Stadium in the historic West End of Cincinnati…

And there’s already a new bar just across the street from the stadium…

But more on that later. It really is a beautiful stadium…

We walked down to Washington Park to check out The City Flea…

And then we walked back to check out The Pitch Cincy…

Pretty neat place. I bet it is just wall-to-wall people on FC match days.

We drove back up into Northside to have a bourbon slushie at Second Place…

Good evening from Northside…

And then we just hung out on our back patio for the rest of the evening…

We had a pretty good Saturday. 😀🌄⚽️🛍️🍻💡❤️

Making the rounds in OtR.

This afternoon, we rode the Metro 17 bus down into Over-the-Rhine. We found a gift card that still had some money on it. So we headed to Taft’s Ale House for lunch. We haven’t been to Taft’s Ale House since our friend Chris’s birthday. Anymore it seems we just always go to Taft’s Brewpourium which is just around the corner from our house over on Spring Grove. We didn’t realize just how long it had been. It’s been so long they’ve built a whole new condo community at Race and Fourteenth Streets…

Hello, beautiful. Taft’s Ale House is so pretty…

When we were crossing the street, we saw another one of those #CincyStreetBots

I’ve really been digging Taft’s Cold Boy

Genifer ordered Taft’s Chicken Avocado Salad

And Saratoga chips with ranch…

I ordered two of Taft’s tri-tip sliders…

With tots and beer cheese…

And Taft’s had bread pudding. I love bread pudding. So I had to order it…

Taft’s is soooo good. Everything was delicious. Especially the bread pudding.

From Taft’s, we walked down to Washington Park to check out the last half hour or so of September’s edition of The City Flea

There were a couple of really dope hats at this Flea…

From Washinton Park, we started walking in the direction of Findlay Market. We walked by a few murals that I hadn’t seen before…

TAG! You’re it…

Findlay Market…

And then we walked over to Sam Adams Cincy Taproom

They were hosting their Oktoberfest…

We hung out for a minute but it was all sort of winding down. So we headed back over to Race Street to check out the new Goose+Elder

I love the restaurant bathroom trend of using wild floral print wallpapers…

Hi. And the other bathroom…

We had a White Russian…

And we ordered just a couple of little small plates to share like their watermelon…

And their mac&cheese…

Terrific stuff. I can’t wait to come back to eat a full meal at Goose+Elder…

Then we hopped in an Uber and headed home. It was a great afternoon in OtR. 😀🏙️❤️

Saturday afternoon in OtR.

We got up this morning, walked the dogs and then hopped on our Metro 17 bus to head down into Over-the-Rhine. Today was the first spring edition of The City Flea in OtR’s beautiful Washington Park

Thornwoods! I used to work with Ben at Deskey. He and his wife started this pop-up and their stuff is really awesome!

I also love all the creatures from Happy Groundhog Studios…

I also used to work with James Billiter at LPK, who does some terrific stuff as well…

It was another great edition of The City Flea. Afterward, we headed over to get a drink from one of Genifer’s favorite OtR spots, Sundry and Vice

And today, S&V had homemade empanadas…

DANG! I love empanadas so much!

Genifer loves Sundry and Vice’s draft Old Fashioned…

Next, we walked up Vine Street and were drawn in by this sign in front of panino

We’ll have to stop back at panino for sammiches. I’ve heard nothing but good things.

It seems like there is always something “coming soon” in OtR…

And then we walked over to Mecca

And we had one of their Chunkers…

And some popcorn…

And then we hopped in an Uber and headed back home. It was a really fun afternoon wandering around Over-the-Rhine. 😀🛍️🥃🍿❤️

A Saturday in OtR.

This afternoon we rode the Metro 17 bus into Over-the-Rhine…

We walked through beautiful Washington Park

And over to one of very our favorite OtR spots, Queen City Radio

We got a couple delicious of Queen City Radio Whip Burgers and fries…

And we did some St. Patty’s Day celebrating…

QCR had green jello shots. Green jello shots are my favorite…

And then we walked over to Cobblestone OtR. We’d never been there before…

It’s a pretty fun little neighborhood watering hole…

And we stopped by another one of our favorite spots, Sundry and Vice

We walked by 16-bit but it looked crazy in there…

So we got an Uber and headed for home…

It was another really fun evening in OtR. 😀🍺❤️

The City Flea: July edition.

Today was July edition of The City Flea at Washington Park. It’s been a while since we’ve been to our last edition of The City Flea. With FC Cincinnati playing away to those stinkers down in Louisville, we didn’t have very much to do today. At all. So we drove down into Over-the-Rhine and parked the Jetta in the Town Center Garage behind Music Hall on Central Parkway for just $3…

By the way, the surface lot just on the other side of Central Parkway next to Music Hall was charging a whopping $10 to park. So if you think about it, we kinda started our Flea seven dollars ahead!  And speaking of Music Hall, it looked like they’ve been making a lot of progress on Music Hall’s rather extensive and elaborate renovations…

Someday I’m actually going to actually get one of these Ebbet’s Field ball caps

Afterwards, we stopped into Sundry and Vice for a drink…

It was a great to wander around The City Flea again. And the drinks were delicious! 😀

Porkopolis Pig & Whiskey Festival.

It was hard to believe that today was already the first day of October…

We rode the 17 bus downtown to the Porkopolis Pig & Whiskey Festival. Last year, it took place on Horseshoe Casino’s event lawn, and was really a lot of fun. This year’s 2nd annual Pig & Whiskey Festival took place at Washington Park. And I have to say when we walked up, we were a little underwhelmed…

The sizeable event lawn at Washington Park kind of swallowed the event whole…

But we had some time to kill before the start of the Reds game, so we got some tickets and soldiered on for some BBQ and whiskey…

First, we tried whiskey infused with sake. A bold new liquor experience bringing the best of East meets West from Karate Cowboy

They were offering a couple of different cocktails. A pineapple mule…

And a honey cran apple cider…

So we tried one of each. Both were absolutley delightful…

We also tried a root beer flavored bourbon from Rebel Yell

For food, we started with The Pockey from Huit…

Asian style ground pork with Chihuahua Cheese rolled in a flour torilla, deep fried and sauced with Huit’s house made sweet sambai…

Delicious and surprisingly filling. And we shared some really incredible St. Louis style ribs from Just Q’in…

30053754565_2fda02c7eb_b

Amazing ribs. The meat fell right off the bone. I was also going to get some burnt ends from Velvet Smoke BBQ but we couldn’t find the room to put them away…

So we got a Jack Tennessee Fire and Canadian Dry instead, which is a delicious cocktail…

And the Met Life Blimp was hovering over Washington Park the whole time…

Pig & Whiskey was definitely more fun last year. But we got to sample some alcohols we wouldn’t have normally got to try. We definitely want to add both Karate Cowboy flavors, and the Rebel Yell root beer bourbon to our home bar reserves. And whenever you get to hang out at Washington Park and gaze at Music Hall, it’s never a bad afternoon…🙂

The City Flea: June edition.

We missed The City Flea’s first appearance of the season back in May due to the weather being so unpredictable. I don’t think it ever actually rained. But it looked like it was about to starting pouring at any second all day long. Today was a really warm one with nothing sun and blue skies as far as the eye could see. So we headed up to Washington Park for the June edition of The City Flea

I love each and every one of these hand-knit critters from For Lula Girl

And their yarn-bombed bicycle was really pretty cool too…

Our backyard is definitely going to need some garden gnomes once we get moved in…

Totes McGoats…

It’s always for fun to wander through The City Flea. And this one was no exception. 🙂

Click to see all the photos I’ve taken at The City Flea throughout the years.

Asian Food Fest.

We walked up to Washington Park to check out the 6th annual Asian Food Fest

We started our Asian Food Fest with a couple of Sapporo’s…

We got tried some very interesting Kimchi Poutine…

And we got some crab rangoons…

I love crab rangoons! Of course, we remembered to take a photo after we had already eaten three or four of them. And the Vietnamese empanadas we ordered were also devoured before we remembered to snap a photo. :/

Asian Food Fest is fun! Even more fun at Washington Park. Remember when it used to be in The Banks? 🙂
