Reds baseball game #4.

Tonight, our Reds were taking on the Cleveland Indians in the second game of this year’s Ohio Cup. It was a pretty night so we went to our fourth Reds game of this baseball season…

Amir Garrett was pitching for the Reds…

He took a line drive off his non-pitching hand in the first

Like I said, it was a really pretty evening…

ARIMSMENDY ALCANTARA!

Eugenio Suarez hit a pinch-hit three-run homer to tie the game at seven

BARGE!

The Reds ended losing the game 8-7. :/

But it sure was great to be back at the ball park again. 🙂

Two goals = half-priced pizzas.

When FC Cincy scores two goals, Papa John’s offers half-priced pizzas the next day! So this evening, we got a Papa John’s pizza and some cheese sticks…

YUM! Half-priced pizza sure is delicious! 😀 ❤️ ⚽️ 🍕

FC Cincinnati versus Bethlehem Steel.

IT’S FC CINCINNATI MATCH DAY FIVE! Today, FC Cincinnati was taking on Bethlehem Steel. Somehow, this was the already third time this season the two teams had met. FC Cincy travelled to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in both of the two prior meetings, and they lost both matches. The first 2-0 and the second 1-0. In both matches. And FC|C had a player sent off in both matches. So we were hoping that our boys in blue could exact a little revenge on the team from the Lehigh Valley…

HERE WE GO…

FC|C’s Corben Bone took a nasty knock on the noggin…

I set our Polaroid CUBE on the row in front of us to record some of the atmosphere and actually captured FC Cincinnati’s first goal. And even though you can’t see the goal, the crowd reaction is still pretty great…

1-0 to FC CINCINNATI!

The referee gave Bethlehem Steel a penalty…

Which they converted…

We thought we felt raindrops so we moved over to watch the match from under the protection of an overhang…

And that’s how the first ended 1-1…

SPRINKLES!

2-1 FC CINCINNATI!

FC Cincinnati new boy Danni Konig scored both FC|C goals!

In the 90th minute, the match was suspended due to lightning in the area…

We headed out to try to beat the raindrops. Our friend JJ gave us a ride home and as soon as we got in her car, it started pouring down rain. Eventually, the match was called final. And the match ended 2-1 to FC Cincinnati.

FC Cincinnati returns to Nippert Stadium next Saturday at 5pm to take on Toronto FC II.
We’ll see you there! 😀 ❤️ ⚽️

USOC17: FC Cincinnati versus AFC Cleveland.

Tonight, FC Cincinnati was playing host to the 2016 NPSL National Champions and neighbors to north, AFC Cleveland. Tonight’s match at Nippert Stadium was a second round match up in the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup…

Here comes the march of the supporters groups into The Bailey…

Sprinkles was standing right next to us…

HERE WE GO!

FC Cincinnati had some good chances in the first half but at the half, it was still 0-0…

SPRINKLES!

Here we go. the second half is under way…

At the end of regulation, it was still 0-0…

And finally in the 115th minute, Djiby headed home to give FC|C a 1-0 lead…

After 120 minutes of regulation, there were two additional minutes to be added on…

And it was finally over! 1-0 to FC Cincinnati…

FC Cincinnati advances to the third round of the 2017 US Open Cup. FC|C will play Louisville City FC at Nippert Stadium, and… the winner of that third round match will host Columbus Crew of the MLS

FC Cincinnati’s next match at Nippert Stadium is on Saturday, May 20th at 7pm against Bethlehem Steel. See you there! ❤️ ⚽️ 😀

FC Cincinnati versus Orlando City B.

IT’S FC CINCINNATI MATCH DAY FOUR! Within the area code of 513, May 13 is a day to celebrate all things Cincinnati. What better way to celebrate 513 Day than watching our beloved FC Cincinnati?!

BECAUSE IT’S FC CINCINNATI MATCH DAY! FC|C was taking on Orlando City B

We rode our Metro 17 bus over to Clifton early so we could go to Mac’s Pizza Pub before the game to get a bite to eat…

Great stuff!

Apparently, we didn’t get over to Mac’s early enough. We were walking into Nippert just as the teams were making their way out onto the pitch…

HERE WE GO!

When FC Cincinnati received their first yellow card in the 15th minute, we knew it was going to be a long match…

At halftime the score was still all deadlocked at 0-0. The first half was one of the worst officiated halves of soccer I’ve ever seen in my life at any level…

And we’re back underway…

In the 74th minute, the referee awarded Orlando City B a really questionable penalty kick which they converted to make the score 1-0…

There were 5 additional minutes added to the end of this debacle…

OCB added a second goal in 90th+2 minute that looked pretty offside to me…

And FC Cincinnati ended up losing to OCB 2-0. Without a doubt in my mind, it was the worst officiated game ever. It was as if it was the referee’s first match or like he didn’t completely read all the rules, just skimmed them. It was beyond ridiculous.

Hopefully, FC|C will be able to bounce back this Wednesday when they welcome NPSL 2016 National Champion’s AFC Cleveland to Nippert Stadium for a second round match up in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. See you there! 🙂

FC Cincinnati versus Louisville City FC.

IT’S FC CINCINNATI MATCH DAY THREE! This evening we ventured over to Nippert Stadium to watch FC Cincinnati take on their closest geographical USL rival, Louisville City FC…

We sat in general admission for the very first time so we could all sit together. It’s not a bad view from over there…

The march of the supporters groups into The Bailey…

It was a pretty chilly evening. It wasn’t the coldest match we’ve ever been to but it was nowhere near the warmest either…

33381040524_e315028276_b

SPOILER ALERT: Djiby would get sent off later in the match; a straight red…

HERE WE GO!

LCFC snatched the early lead…

And that’s the way the match would stay for the rest of the first half. Back and forth. Back and forth. But no more goals from either side… SPRINKLES!

I just don’t know what to say. There really aren’t words. I think I’m mostly just really disappointed because I almost wore the same exact thing but I didn’t think I’d be warm enough on such a chilly evening…

😐 🦄  Anyway, there was another good crowd packed into Nippert for tonight’s match…

And the second half is underway…

GOAL FC|C! 1-1!

And that’s the way the match would finish, 1-1. That’s better than a loss. The matches are always a bunch of fun to watch live. The atmosphere is always incredible. And it was a blast to get my parents out to their very first FC|C match. But Djiby got sent off so there’s that, which will be a fun plot twist for the team to try to deal with…

FC Cincinnati’s next home match isn’t until May 13th when they welcome Orlando City B to Nippert Stadium. We’ll see you there! 🙂

UPDATE: Apparently, Djiby bit or tried to bite someone during the match and has been suspended for an additional five matches.

From the USL:

FC Cincinnati’s Djiby Fall has received a six-game suspension and undisclosed fine. It consists of a one-game suspension and fine for the red card for serious foul play, and an additional five-game suspension and fine for major game misconduct during last week’s match against Louisville City FC. Fall’s suspension runs through June 3, pending any schedule changes.

[UPDATE] – The USL has provided further clarification to its disciplinary report for Week 5. Djiby Fall’s five-game suspension and undisclosed fine for Major Game Misconduct is for biting an opponent during the match on April 22, 2017.

FC Cincinnati versus Tampa Bay.

IT’S FC CINCINNATI MATCH DAY TWO! Tonight was FC Cincinnati’s second home match of the season. They were taking on the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Nippert Stadium…

The supporters groups started marching in to fill up The Bailey…

HERE WE GO…

Tampa Bay Rowdies scored first on this rocket from about thirty-five yards

FC|C answered back when Harrison Delbridge headed the ball in from a corner

Oh, and it was University of Cincinnati night at tonight’s match…

There were two minutes of time added on…

At the half, the match was all knotted at one…

There were some great banners in The Bailey tonight…

Two of my favorites were Fiona the baby hippo and the three-way right next to it…

SPRINKLES!

Both teams had some good chances but neither team could manage to find the back of the net in the second half. And the match of ended in a 1-1 draw.

I missed the snapping the photo but tonight’s match was played in front of a crowd of 15,227 – the 12th-largest crowd in FC Cincinnati history. On a Wednesday. And that’s still 3,000+ people more than Columbus Crew drew last weekend. On a Saturday.

FC Cincinnati’s next match is at home on Saturday, April 22nd against Louisville City FC. We’ll see you there! 🙂

FC Cincinnati’s new team shop.

This afternoon I walked down to Fourth Street to check out the brand new FC Cincinnati Team Shop. The old FC Cincy shop located under FC|C Headquarters, and was pretty much a large coat closet stuffed with a few t-shirts, sweatshirts and jerseys…

The new FC Cincinnati Team Shop is located at 43 East Fourth Street, just down the street, kind of kiddie-corner to FC Cincinnati HQ…

It’s a pretty sweet shop. I can’t wait until they get a wider selection of shirts, sweatshirts and accessories. It’ll also be nice when they can actually keep all the sizes in stock. They selection was pretty picked over ahead of tomorrow night’s match with Tampa Bay. And there wasn’t an FC|C blackout t-shirt to be found in the store for Saturday’s blackout versus Louisville City. Still, it’s a pretty cool little team shop. Definitely more professional and legit than it used to be. They even have a jersey customization station where you can add player names and numbers to the back of your FC|C Nike authentic jersey to make it even more authentic…

Next time you’re in the Central Business District, make sure you check out the new FC Cincinnati Team Shop. 🙂

What an amazing night.

In case you missed it, FC Cincinnati President & General Manager Jeff Berding sent out a thank you email after FC|C’s 4-0 home opener win over St. Louis

It was such an amazing night! One of the best nights of FC Cincinnati at Nippert Stadium for sure. I love this team and how our city has embraced them. And how this team reciprocates that love back to the city. It’s something very special. 🙂

Reds baseball game #3.

We got up and moving this morning because we had tickets to this afternoon’s Reds baseball game. Easter Sunday baseball church! And it was our third Red’s game of the season so far. We got down to Great American Ball Park a little early so we could try to find our Reds All-Star Legacy brick again. We looked and looked and looked for it last season but didn’t have any luck finding it. Today, we asked someone in the Reds Hall of Fame if they could help us track it down and they led us right to them. There five trees just to the Ohio River side of the Main Gate at Crosley Terrace. Each tree represents one of the five All-Star games Cincinnati has hosted in its illustrious past. We found our brick in the 1953 All-Star game grouping…

Pretty cool stuff! Thanks again to JJVE for getting us our Reds All-Star Legacy brick!

We were so excited to find our brick that I completely forget to take my usual photo of the outside of GABP before we headed in…

We had tickets up in the Cincinnati Bell Fioptics District again. But the ballpark was really empty so we decided to start the game in a virtually empty section of seats down the third base line…

We were sharing our section with this bird and that was pretty much it…

Sal Romano was making his first MLB start against the Brewers today…

Arismendy Alcantara has one of the greatest names of all times…

Arismendy Alcantara used to play for the Cubs. I loved when the Reds would play the Cubs just so I could say his name. And now he plays for the Reds! Hopefully, he starts getting more playing time soon.

While we were still sitting in the down the third place line, one of the Brewers hit a line drive foul ball that ricocheted off some seats, bounced off the nacho concession stand behind us, landed a few rows behind us and rolled under the seats and Genifer reached over to pick it up in the row behind us. And after 200+ Reds games, we finally have our first foul ball…

The live Sunday Reds mascot race…

And this one belongs to Mr. Redlegs…

I’ll always remember the seats where we got our very first foul ball at GABP. Section 109, row KK seats 19 and 20…

After that, we headed upstairs to the Cincinnati Bell Fioptics District…

On our way upstairs, we tried the new Cheetos popcorn…

It was really good stuff! Cheesy popcorn mixed with Cheetos….

The Reds got 10 strikeouts this afternoon. So close to more free pizza but yet so far…

And the Reds dropped this game to the Brew Crew 4-2…

It was a perfect afternoon for baseball. And about a half hour after we got home from the game, it started pouring and rained for the rest of the day. That’s what I call pretty perfect timing. I’m glad they were able to get the game in before the storm rolled in. 🙂
